Roman was one of the three quotations I received and he was chosen to do the work because of his obvious knowledge, suggestions on how to accomplish the work and fair price. He replaced two gas water heaters with a tankless Rinnai unit. He dealt with the permit, came and met with the county inspector on a second day, adjusting his schedule to meet mine as I was traveling quite a bit. He provided paywork for the tax credits and rebates from Progress Energy. On the day of the installation, he and his son showed up at the agreed time, removed and disposed of the old water heaters almost before I finished my cup of coffee. They then installed the new unit, tested for hot water at all faucets in the house to be sure the tank was sized appropriately. They took great care to protect the floor and carpeting in the area that they had to transit to reach my mechanical room using pads to cover the walkway. Roman also had to drill through a block and stone wall to vent the unit. This was done so that it is practically unnoticeable from the outside. I am very satisfied with the unit and would recommend Roman to anyone.

It went great. Roman was very prompt, courteous, efficient and no-nonsense. As stated in another area, Roman was the only plumber to give me an accurate estimate, because he took the trouble to go under the house to see why my drain was leaking. Roman cleaned up the mess after finishing the repairs and answered all questions I had. I am very impressed with Roman's work ethic.
Description of Work: !. Replace master bath shower control. 2. Replaced leaking shower drains. Roman gave me an estimate mid-August and told me what to buy to replace the master bath shower control. He came back to install that new shower control (which controls for water pressure and temperature separately, something the old control did not do). He also replaced the bad shower drain. Of the plumbers who gave me an estimate ONLY Roman looked at the leaking drain to realize the leak was not due to a lose drain, but a bad drain. Consequently, all other plumbers gave me an inaccurate estimate since they assumed what the leak was due to. Thanks, Roman. I will be calling you for all my plumbing needs.

Putting text here to satisfy the required "how did it go overall" requirement of this rather lame review form. :-(
Description of Work: To date, Roman has performed a couple of different jobs for us. The first time he came out it was to install a new garbage disposal; the second time to install an outside hose bib. In my opinion, Roman epitomizes everything you could possibly want in a plumber (or any other professional for that matter). He's punctual, reliable, his work is of high quality, and his prices are reasonable. We have a bathroom remodel coming up that will require moving some fixtures and we won't be considering any plumber besides Roman for the job.

Roman was responsive to answer my first call and came out the next day. The work under the kitchen sink was done quickly and performs appropriately.. When it came to moving the ice maker water line. He questioned my location. Then he started adding his opinions about it and other conditions in my home, including the hot water heater. I was firm in my decision and the work progressed quickly and it continues to perform as required. As we were settling the bill he says "By the way, you'll have to hire an electrician to replace your ground. I had to cut it to put in the water pipe." I was shocked! Since I had recently moved into this house, I had the house regrounded to code, not two weeks prior - to the tune of $200. His manner turned from opinionated to what other reviewers have described as "brusque" He said I wasn't being "fair to him", "did nothing wrong" "all plumbers do what they have to do to get the job done." Since i was in tears, my boyfriend had to explain that having to call in another professional to fix his actions was uncalled for, should have been mentioned prior to the job - and included in the estimate. Roman argued back and said several times "everybody knows you have to cut the ground wire..." Well, Roman, like we said, "if we knew how to do the job, we wouldn't have hired you!" Our perspective t finally sunk in to him, and he called his electrician friend. He told him to come out and reconnect the ground for free. He gave us his number and he was to come the next day...Unfortunately, that night was the BIGGEST lightening storm in Raleigh in months - not the best time to be ungrounded! Unfortunately again, it took two more days for him to fix the ground. I hired another plumber the next week to complete an unrelated job. They said they always reconnect ground wires that they have to move. And it has always been my personal/professional ethic, to leave things they way I found them. In closing: even great response time, work quality/speed can't erase a bad attitude.

Response from R&S Plumbing & Home Repair LLC
I rec’d a service request and installed an icemaker line and new garbage disposal. . The customer wanted to change the location of her refrigerator; therefore, I needed to access the water line to make the location change. The installation of a new icemaker line requires me to install the icemaker box into the wall and cut into the existing copper water lines to get water to the refrigerator (ie icemaker box). In order to have a functional refrigerator with ice and water, you need to have water running to the box. In order to access the water, I cut the existing copper water lines in the crawl space. In the older homes, the copper water lines serve as a secondary electrical ground. (They still have a primary ground.) This means that anytime the water line is accessed, the secondary ground needs to be restored by putting in a jumper wire. This jumper wire needs to be done by a licensed electrician only. I did not at any time cut the ground wire as the customer stated. I informed the homeowner of the need to restore the ground per code and provided the name and number of the electrician to do the work. At that moment, she started crying and told her boyfriend that I cut the ground. He then came and confronted me -- he asked me why I would cut the ground as they just had it installed and why I hadn’t informed him. I told him I had to access the copper water line to get water to the refrigerator as they requested. The copper water lines again serve as the secondary ground. AT NO TIME, DID I EVER CUT A GROUND WIRE AS CUSTOMER STATED. I did the job as requested and provided an electrician to restore the secondary ground to install a jumper wire. At no time was her house ‘ungrounded’ or was she ever in any danger. She is a nice lady who was upset with her house purchase due to an inadequate inspection resulting in many problems. I did pay for the electrician since I didn’t want to add to her upset from her house problems. Hopefully, she’s had all her problems fixed and can enjoy her home.

It was not a terrible experience but I would not recommend him. He asks us to pay him before the inspection was done which I was not comfortable with. He said he had never failed an inspection and he ended up failing because the gas line was leaking. He did come back and fix the issue later that day. It has worked great since then.

Around lunchtime on Saturday, I discovered our water heater was leaking. I left messages for 2 plumbers. Roman called back within 5 minutes. In fact, he called from his daughter's dance competition. We settled on a time for him to replace the unit that evening. As luck would have it, he returned home to learn that he didn't have the correct replacement unit in stock. He apologized for not knowing this earlier and promised to be here first thing on Monday--which he did. He even called ahead to confirm his arrival time. Roman was clean-cut, professional, and efficient. The whole job took him only 2 hours. I recommend him without any hesitation, and I plan to call him again for future plumbing needs.

Exceptional service! AS stated in serviuce performed section. the repair was to a dislodged connection between street sewer pipe and house pipe. This entailed working from within a cramped crawl space to realign the two pipes by replacing a section with a new piece and replacing the cleanout and coupling. The pipes are huge from my perspective and not easily dealt with. All in all, the work was completed in about an hour and a half or less, including picking up parts. All removed porions were removed from crawl space and trashed.
Description of Work: Connection of street sewer pipe to in-crawl-space home ppe leaked. The connector had slipped or shifted and the angle of the 2 pipes was off. This was noticed by a termite inspector. I immediatley called R&S Plumbing (Roman) with whom I have previously dealt . Prior to his visit I entered the crawl space and saw that the corner area near the wall exit of the in house pipe was wet. R&S Plumbing came out within a few days and tackled this very difficult job. He managed to correct the problem with additional pipe and couplings from within the crawl space (as opposed to having dig up outside and try readjusting the outer pipe etc.) He mentioned that it appeared the original coupling had not been sufficiently glued (the house is 25 yuears old). I suspect the recent earthquake, which I felt through the floor, may have been enough to dislodge the not secure connection. This gentleman is the best. He is thorough, very clear in explaining the problem. and providing an estimate of approximate cost. I would hire him again in a jiff if I have another plumbing problem. I also will and have recommended him to any one who asks. It is not easy to find a professional that one can trust to give you the straight scoop and then perform an excellent job.

I had a leak in my kitchen from the washer above on the second floor. Roman corrected the leaky valve and has recommended a carpenter to replace the sheet rock in the kitchen which was damaged. So far I have been very pleased with the carpenter. I will let Angie's List know the results upon completion of the project. Roman was very friendly and very professional. He explained everything he was doing, how much it would cost, and what to do next.
Description of Work: Roman replaced the hot and cold shutoff valves in the washer box with 1/2 turn shutoff valves. He installed a 6x6 access panel below the washer box in lieu of sheet rock repair.

He was great. He came in and got right to work. He had the old disposer out in under 10 minutes and then hooked up the new one. He was quick, friendly and professional. My only complaint is that he was 5 minutes late, but he came over after hours during rush hour traffic, so I really can't fault him for that! We've been looking for a good plumber for a while and we think we've found him.

Late Friday evening our water heater broke down. I left R&S plumbing a VM after reading comments on AngiesList, not knowing whether I would get back the same day or not. Roman called me within 15 mins and set up an appointment early the next morning. He was great in describing the options available based on the size of house and cost to setup. We installed the Eternal Tankless water heater. In a perfect world, everything would have gone smoothly and done but the very next day, I wasn't happy with the system at all. I was getting cold water in about 3-4 mins. Disappointed, I called up Roman again (of course a little p*****). It takes a cool headed person to really handle a dissatisfied client but he did a great job in explaining me the process and went ahead and tuned the system to its max efficiency. This unit is working great now ! Roman is a thorough professional and can get the job done!

Roman was an angel. Our garbage disposal just dropped-off the ring and had some external leaks. We tried ourselves but could not stop the external leaks. We called the original company that installed it and since it was more than 3mths old, they would have charged a house-call fees + material cost if any. It was getting late in the evening, just around when we called Roman. Luckily for us, he was on his way home and he was kind enough to make a stop to fix the garbage disposal unit for us. He was punctual, charged us very very reasonable (there were others who were charging 3 times more) and professional. Can't thank him enough!!

We contacted Roman about a water leak my husband discovered under our house. Since we were able to get the water shut off, we didn't need him to come out immediately (it was a Sunday), but he did come out first thing Monday morning. He had to install a 3/4 shut off valve in the mainline because our meter shut off was not completely shutting off the water. He then replaced an RP Valve under the house. He let us know we should contact the water company about our broken meter shut off and about the wasted gallons of water that would appear on our next bill. We were very pleased with his work and would (and actually already have) hire him again.

Called R&S Plumbing on a holiday weekend when my hot water tank was not heating. Roman called me back within 15 minutes and said he could come out at 3pm. He had the tank in his warehouse and could install. He did excellent work, installed the tank in a very hot attic within 2 hours. He is very considerate of your property! Coming out of the attic he put a small mark in the wall, told us about it and said he would have someone out to repair. The person he sent was out on Tuesday was very nice and had it repaired. I would highly recommend R&S for any plumbing work.

I found Roman the proprietor who is also the installer/plumber and appears to be a one person operation from Angies List. Made an appointment and Roman was prompt in responding and made an appointment to come over to my place in Chapel Hill to take a look and give his estimate. Roman came on time and gave me a couple of options; direct vent heater and a gas tankless heater. I chose the direct vent type mainly because of the lower cost involved. We made an appointment for him to do the installation and he was again on time that day. He took about three hours and the job was completed successfully with running hot water within the house. The installation was later inspected by the town of Chapel Hill and the inspector commented that the work had been executed flawlessly! Roman is very professional but can be brusque at times but that is more than compensated by his excellent quality work .
Description of Work: The job required replacing an existing gas water heater to a direct vent gas water heater since the existing installation was not correctly installed and was in violation of city codes( discovered when I had my AC unit replaced earlier).

I called Roman at 9am on a Saturday after I discovered my old tank was leaking. He was at my house at 11:30, and completed at 2pm. He was very prompt and I couldn't have expected more from him. He had everything he needed (including the new tank!) when he showed up, listened to my concerns, answered my questions, gave good advice, and hauled away all the old material. I would highly recommend Roman to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to use him for plumbing in the future.
Description of Work: I needed my water heater replaced (14 years old - the hot water was much hotter than usual and the tank had started to leak) and called Roman based on other reviews from customers on AngiesList. I liked that he had a lot of excellent reviews, was close by, and offered emergency service.

I own multiple properties and have dealt with many plumbers over the years; Roman was better than all of them. He was knowledgeable, polite and efficient and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. His price was better than any of the others as well. I would recommend him and intend to use his services again.
Description of Work: We had a plumbing leak in the ceiling, it appeared to be a drain as it wasn't leaking continually. I called Roman and set up an appointment for the following day. He showed up on time (early actually, which was good), and did a thorough diagnosis of our leak. He spent approximately 90 minutes on this. It turned out that the problem was more complicated than we had originally believed and through a methodical process of elimination Roman was able to determine the leak was caused by water leaking through cracks in the grout. This means that I'll need to hire a tile professional to re-do the tile in the shower, but I was happy to know what the problem was and not have to waste time and money fixing other things that would not have worked.

We had a water heater that needed replacement fairly quickly. Roman took my call and offered to come look at it within a couple hours. Once onsite we agreed to replace it and he moved like lightning to prep the old one before going out to get a replacement. Later he brought his son back with him to share in some of the load, and they made a fun team! The replacement was a 6-year as opposed to the 9-year warranty type we were looking at but it doesn't seem like an issue. FYI, Lowes and Home Depot were consulted first but they were either unresponsive or way too expensive.
Description of Work: Replacement of faulty water heater with a new one, plus a new drain pan since ours was corroded. Included installation of an expansion tank which the code now requires.

Roman made a weekend house call to complete our cabinet installation. Due to our new sink being deeper, he had to make a modification to our new cabinet. He tried to rework the plumbing; however, the depth and width of the new sink made it impossible. I was very concerned about the new plumbing and the new routing affecting my storage space under the cabinet. Roman rerouted the plumbing to the corner and the lines do seem less noticeable. Roman had to reconnect all lines and reinstall the disposal. I appreciate his taking this time from his weekend to get this done. His fee was very reasonable considering the time it took to reroute the lines and this was on a Saturday.
Description of Work: Roman came out on the weekend and hooked up our kitchen faucet. Which was not as simple of a task as it sounds. We had installed a much deeper sink and this posed problems with the existing plumbing lines.
