About us

At Order in the House, we strive to help create order out of chaos in the clients home. Whether it is organizing the home, helping with a move, or designing systems to help maintain order. As a Certified Organizer Coach, Deborah also specializes in working with adults who have ADHD. Her passion is to help them discover what works best for them so that they can be more organized and productive. Coaching is available to enhance the organizing process through better communication with the client and can be done in the home or over the phone.

Services we offer

Deborah provides hands-on organizing in any area of the home and home office. She take into consideration how the client thinks and functions best and then designs systems and routines to simplify the clients home. Other services provided are: moving/unpacking, decluttering, paper filing, time management, downsizing, decorating for the holidays, closet organizing.

Services we don't offer

I do not install shelving or provide cleaning services; however, I do help assemble shelves and do light cleaning as I organize. I will be happy to recommend another Angie's Service Provider that does offer closet installation services.

Deb is a pleasure to work with. She knows how to de-cluttter your mess efficiently and stress-free in no time. A disaster area that seems insurmountable is tackled by Deb with ease. You feel a sense of relief after she is finished. Deb is a very trustworthy person to have in your home. I have had her come and help me for the past three years now.

Extremely well! I'm not sure how we would manage without Deborah (we are about 2/3 of the way through our 25-hour package). She is efficient, tireless, kind, firm and a great thought partner throughout the purge process. The stuff we don't want leaves with her - to be donated to the perfect group or taken to the trash. She is an organizing guru, whipping remaining items into sensible order in drawers, on shelves, in cabinets - wherever you have space. She makes thoughtful suggestions based on her extensive body of knowledge and experience in the industry. She is a great at using what you have on hand, but will offer suggestions of products she's found useful.
Description of Work: My partner and I contacted Deborah to help us merge two households into one - which included large amounts of sorting, purging for donation or discard and finding "permanent homes" for the things we chose to keep

Filing system is still incomplete! I am adding a P.S. to my initial review. I now understand how sorting & filing can be an overwhelming task. Sometimes it takes more than one visit to get the job done. Initially I thought the pricing was too high, but in the end you get what you pay for. Debra was worth it, with her knowledge & experience of how to get the job done. She is coming back, to help me make sense of it all! An apology to Order In The House, for initially writing a hasty review!
Description of Work: Pricing was exorbitant for setting up a filing system @ $70.00 an hour to include a trip charge of $70.00! At the end of the day, there was filing & folders to be completed!

This client was a wonderful lady whose husband had passed away and there were four years of papers and taxes to organize. We did manage to set up files for 2015 and still need to file some papers for this year. We also found numerous tax documents that the CPA needed that were missing. We sorted through 3 black garbage bags of papers, one banker box full of papers, two filing cabinet drawers, and a stack of papers from the dining room table. Unfortunately papers take a long time to sort and the end result is not as rewarding as cleaning out a closet. We sorted the papers by year and separated out any tax documents that she may need for the CPA. In the end everything is ready to tally up the totals by year for the CPA. I'm happy to return to complete the filing system and not charge for the travel fee. I would also be happy to bring some of my own files to complete the system.

Description of Work: Deb, was extremely professional from the beginning!! I started out discussing with her my Garage and how I wanted it to be more organized. She arrived on time and was extremely knowledgeable about organization and she didn't only rearrange my garage she also took the time to explain why she was doing it a specific way. Once I understood it item flow much more consistently now and are much easier to find. I would def. recommend.

IT WENT SUPER GREAT. Debbi is personable and gentle, not bossy (you know -family). She was and will continue to be a pleasure to work with. We have more projects in the future, but the OFFICE, TAXES & PAPER are done. When we started she asked me where I would like to start. I said I could not work IN the OFFICE, so we hauled everything, bit by bit, into the dining room. I'm sure she was biting her tongue as we filled maybe 30 or more tripled paper bags with unnecessary paper. She shredded what was required. Debbi set up an IMMEDIATE FILE which stays on my desk for daily perusal. I'm still trying to get my personal paper habits to be more predictable, but it will come. Debbi and I would have brief personal chats during our work, which is really nice for me. We had hot tea occasionally. Debbi hung a large painting in the dining room for me. When I cancelled an appointment, Debbi was gracious and positive. This has to be said: She is small, but extremely strong - hauling boxes to the attic, up & down, over and over. Also Debbi can work very fast or slow down and re-explain if I look confused or ask a question. Over the last 30 years I have always prepared and organized the tax papers for the accountant. In the last 10 years, my record has been very spotty. NOW, Debbi set up a simple way to keep up with medical appointments, payments by two insurance companies, and what my out of pocket expenses total. Debbi devised a system in one spiral notebook which records all medical claims, including Provider, Date of Visit, Payments by each insurance company, my out of pocket expenses, AND the travel distance in miles to and from the visit. This same spiral notebook has medical premiums, donations, interest paid on mortgage, IRA contributions or withdrawals, and federal and state refunds from previous years. Plus she included my income. So it is all there. I have the supporting documentation which is filed with the notebook in Taxes. I have had very difficult time with taxes in the past. What a relief. Plus I have a delightful office for work. It will be so much easier when tax time comes again.
Description of Work: Order In The House, Deborah Zechini: I have multiple goals working with Debbi. The first one and most important to me –— THE OFFICE, COMPLETING 2012 & 2013 taxes for submission to accountant. There were so many boxes full of mail and papers — I did not count them, but 40 would be in the ballpark. Debbi and I working together went through all of that paper, filed it or tossed it. We used 5 folding tables plus the dining room table & buffet in order to function effectively in the beginning. Gradually all those tables disappeared. Debbi set up a filing system for each year; 2012, 2013, 2014 and managed to get the necessary papers filed appropriately. IT IS SO SIMPLE, compared to my system which had become overwhelming. Now each year is concise. Debbi questioned why I didn't use my office and I explained that I had never worked IN my office in 10 years because it was so crowded, messy and depressing. Deb suggested we remove a couple pieces of furniture from the office and rearrange the office. SUPER idea for me. Now I willingly go in there every day to do paperwork and computer work. Debbi has been a lifesaver for me. My taxes are filed for 2012 and 2013. Preparing the 2014 taxes will be a snap, because of the systems she has set in place. And, did I mention how easily we worked together.

Bobbi is a complete joy to work with and has a great sense of humor. Our sessions together have been very productive as she is willing to let go of papers. After coaching her to find what system works best for her, we were able to set it up and start filing! Yep, there were probably about 40 boxes of mail as Bobbi already stated and we got through them all! We're now practicing routines to stay on top of the incoming mail so it doesn't get backed up again. Thanks Bobbi for allowing me to continue to work with you until we get it right.

She did a wonderful job. We came up with a plan on which room to start on first and we went from there. The professionalism and quality was excellent. She is qualified for the work that she is doing and she does not waste any time at all. She does this in a very relaxed and organized way. She was not pushy and she did point out during the service things that she saw me doing that created the issue. We will be using her in the future.

Deb was wonderful. She took the time to listen to my concerns about organization and to talk through them with me, offering suggestions along the way. She was kind, non-judgmental and low-key. She proceeded to work with me after finding out exactly what I wanted help with. She proceeded based on my preferences, and was prepared to be as hands-on or hands-off as I wished. For example, after presenting some approaches to closet organization, it was up to me if she hung garments, if I did so myself, or if we did so together. I recommend her highly.
Description of Work: Deb first helped me prioritize areas in need of organization and then helped me organize my clothes closet. She also provided helpful tips for organization in general. In addition, Deb provided support re my organizational progress, via email, between appointments. I chose not to include a cost of service, because I'm not sure if her fee varies based on the size and complexity of each project.

Deb was fantastic in helping me create a paperwork filing system for my office. She also helped me to organize my closets and declutter. I have mostly been able to maintain the system, but could probably stand to have a "refresher" at some point. It was great having her here to keep me on task to declutter and get better organized. I would definitely hire her again.

I hired Deb for 3 hours to pack and 3 hours to unpack. One week later I hired her for 4 hours to unpack the kitchen. She works quickly and efficiently. You will get tired just watching her.
Description of Work: I have used Order in the House three times for my move. Deb helped me pack and unpack. She is faster than the movers for packing and she is cheaper. She unpacked and organized my kitchen. She also unpacked and organized my last kitchen 7 years ago. Everything was so conveniently placed that it stayed like that for the entire 7 years.

Debbie arrived promptly at 9 am and came on Memorial Day since I had the day off - which I truly appreciated! She started out by just going over some "hot spots" in my home to help her see how I process things, and she gave me some helpful advice along the way. Then we started on my bedroom closet and I don't know how she did it, but I was using all three walls with items everywhere and by the time we finished, all the clothes where arranged in color/item order (tailored to me) and only took up two of the three walls!! This left me a wall to place a cabinet with doors for additional items. It looks awesome and she really did an amazing job. I have never before used a service such as this, but Debbie is wonderful, extremely non judgmental, and I would highly recommend her and will definitely use her again!

Debbie started with a coaching session where we explored how I process information, and then tailored her organization advice to what would most likely work for me. She guided me through some interesting (and occasionally difficult) insights, all without being judgmental. We then tackled a large walk-in closet that was piled over my head with debris that I had been dreading trying to clean for years. Debbie jumped right in and we had it cleaned in less than 3 hours. She then took everything to be donated with her, and put all the trash outside where I specified. Afterward, she looked at some other messy closets and gave me concrete steps on how to organize them. She is amazing - hire her!

Description of Work: I contacted Debbie about helping me with my office space. I've had to cancel my appointment with her several times (sadly), so I haven't experienced her work yet.
