Kelly Window & Door Inc

The Sale: Mike showed up at our home with his kit. Included were door samples, lock samples, color swabs, catalogs, different gauge steel plates, etc. We were looking for an upgraded front door that would resist kick-ins due to some problems in our neighborhood recently. Mike identified a solid steel door that is much thicker than what you would find a the big box stores. He showed us the difference as well as the included steel reinforcement plate that is installed inside the frame next to the dead bolt. Exactly what we wanted. We met with other vendors, who quite frankly came across as unprofessional, disorganized, and unfriendly. Mike runs his business like a business, not a cheap fly by night shop. Mike went above and beyond to answer questions and explain the details of his quote. I would have lost patience with myself after all the questions I kept asking him. He responded to email promptly and never lost his cool (unlike another vendor who told me I wanted too much information and to get lost). We signed on the line that was dotted and Mike said the door would be ordered and in about 6 to 8 weeks we'd be notified to schedule installation. Six weeks later, the project manager called and scheduled the installation. The Installation: The guys arrived on time first thing in the morning. They discussed what they were going to do and answered some last minute questions I had. They even agreed to set aside my old deadbolt kit so I could reuse it later on another door. The guys worked quickly and thoroughly. I stopped by at lunch time to check the progress and they were almost done. The new door was in pristine condition and exactly how we wanted, right down to where the peep hole was installed. When I got home after work the new door was in place and the guys were gone. Other than having a new door, I could not tell they had been there. There was no trash lying around and everything was completely finished down to the last detail. New trim was installed around the door both inside and out. They had caulked the trim, puttied the nail holes, sanded the putty, painted the trim, and even put clear sealant on the exterior nails to prevent rusting! The weatherstripping around the door and underneath were solid, with no holes or areas for leakage. There was literally nothing for me to do except admire the new door. The Follow Thru: I received a call from the project manager the following day to see if everything was done to my satisfaction. Of course I told him they did a great job and I was very happy. He let me know that if any issues developed, to give him a call directly and he'd handle it. I feel comfortable knowing he means what he says. They even provided the information I needed to deduct a portion of the cost on my tax return. Why Kelly Window & Door is Awesome: We previously worked with another door installation vendor on another project. That vendor got good reviews on Angie's List but we should have trusted our instinct. His responses to negative reviews were riddled with typos and excuses. He arrived for the sales interview and was disheveled and unprofessional. Whereas Mike spent a solid 45 minutes reviewing options and answering questions, this guy was in and out in about 5 minutes. He made us go to a third party shop and look at doors instead of bringing a catalog with him. He did not answer questions and lost his patience very easily. It took him months to get the door in stock and he rushed through the installation. Any issue that come up during the install he blamed on the door manufacturer. I guess it is the manufacturer's fault he put things in backwards. He had to come back out and fix some problems because he did not test that the door actually opened and closed before he left! Worst of all, when he finally did leave, you could tell he was there. Trash was strewn all over the place inside and outside the house, trampled flowers in the yard, dust and dirt inside the house, and a laundry list of things he told me I had to do. As he put it, he is not a painter (well, neither am I). These are the items he left for me to do after the "install": caulk around the trim of the door, putty the nail holes, sand the putty, paint the trim, rehang the fixtures, apply sealant to the outside, and clean up his mess. It took all weekend to finally get the project finished and several hours of my time. With Kelly Window & Door, we did not have to worry about any of that. When they said they would install the door, they did just that. There was not one task for me to do to follow up or clean up after them. This alone would be worth a premium in price paid, but the price was very competitive to the other vendors, even the dead beat vendor I mentioned above. Bottom Line: Hire Kelly Window & Door. Get competitive quotes if you must, but compare their professionalism with the other guys and trust your instinct. Even if the other guys undercut Mike's price, is it worth it for you to have to do their job to finally get the installation finished? Who wants to caulk, putty, sand, paint, and pick up trash when you expect the folks you hired to do the job to completion?

Kelly Window & Door were great. Mike met with us for the estimate, and then two men came and did the entire job when the windows came in (about a month later. I liked the fact that it was the same two guys who came everyday until the job was done, not a random series of people showing up over several weeks. Very professional and cleaned up everything afterwords. My only suggestion to the company is that we would have appreciated Mike coming by to see the finished job and talk with us.

The window was special ordered and as soon as it arrived Kelly's called to schedule in installation. Window looks/functions great. Everything about the experience was positive. They even went the extra mile when we needed a "safety lock" for the window after an inspection. They drove all the way from Cary with the safety locks, installed them and didn't charge us anything....not even gas money for the trip. I would highly recommend them for being professional it was very positive experience.

Kelly Window and Door did an excellent job replacing almost every window in our 3 story home. The windows look great and we can feel the difference in heat retention already. The estimate was exactly what we paid and the project finished on time. The windows, which come with an excellent warranty, were expertIy measured and installed. The installers were here on time each day, working with challenging weather conditions, and were knowledgable and courteous. We plan to use them again for door replacement.

Fulfilled commitments as communicated in original meeting. Wanted to assure that we were happy every step of the way.

The interactions with their admin have been smooth and clear, the 3 appointments I have had with them have all been as planned,on time, clear and very straightforward. I liked their non-nonsense clear approach and that is why I choose them as well as the great window products they offer.

I was supposed to have an appointment in there showroom but they canceled my appointment and I am yet to hear back from them. I have emailed and called and no one has got back with me. I am very interested in working with this company but cannot get a response back.

The whole process went extremely well from start to finish. Mike Kelly came out to provide a quote and took a very generous amount of time with me. I was certainly well educated on windows and window installation when he was finished. While I thought that the initial quote was reasonable for the quality of windows and work to be done, it was simply more than what I was comfortable budgeting for this job considering that I have some other large home expenditures that I anticipate in the near future. I asked Mike to look into how I could compromise to have windows that were still of high quality but bring the price down to within my budget. This was done very quickly (within a couple of days at most) and was just what I had asked Mike to do. I was comfortable with the new quote and product and proceeded ahead. I was told that from the time of downpayment and ordering the windows to expect everything to take 6 to 8 weeks. It was done just ahead of the 6 week mark. Kelly Window and company was very easy to work with and very gracious in scheduling due to the fact that I am expecting and toward the end of that process. Bruce was in charge of scheduling the installation and was great to work with. He arrived on time the morning of installation with Gary and his crew following closely behind. All of the men who arrived were professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. They finished ahead of schedule and did outstanding work. After they were finished they even moved a rather large piece of furniture back so that I wouldn't have to. Then Gary went through everything they did, made sure that I understood how the new windows and screens work, and cleaned up everything. My floors looked better after they finished than before they arrived! I was extremely happy with the whole process and would absolutely recommend this company for window installation. They will certainly be who I use when I get to the point of replacing the other windows in my house.

The experience was great. The workers were fast and efficient. I trusted them 100%. I did not have a problem at all with leaving them alone while I ran an errand. They are very personable. .They went above and beyond our expectation. We can tell a big difference with the temperature in my home.

These guys are great. They did a top notch job installing the door and we love it! Sadly, we put it in our house just prior to moving out to help with resale, we miss it already! It was pricey, but, you get what you pay for. We had considered going with a lowe's or home depot door and while it definitely would have been cheaper, it would not have been as nice of a door or as professionally installed. The installers actually work FOR Kelly which is something you won't find with other places. Also, be prepared to wait a while (like 6+ weeks) for whatever you are ordering to come in, but that's b/c they make everything to order. Trust me, it's worth the wait.

It went very well. Six weeks earlier, a representative came to the house, examined the old window and recommended that it be replaced with a custom window. He gave me the price, said that the window would be ready in 5-6 weeks, and we struck a deal. Right on schedule, the window was ready. Two employees installed it in an hour and a half. It fit perfectly, and it looks terrific.

Services were not performed but our conversation was very informative.

Everyone we dealt with from this company was courteous, professional and forthright. Matthew provided us with initial product selection and went out of his way to help us get the best product while keeping the job cost within our budget. Next, Bruce came to our home and made all necessary measurements and overall job assessment. He then coordinated product ordering and scheduling of installation. He kept us informed of the manufacturing timeline, and when the windows arrived earlier than anticipated, worked with us to schedule the most convenient time for the install. Scott and Brad installed the windows and were cordial and very efficient. They arrived promptly as scheduled, completed the job in the time estimated and left us with perfect new windows and not a speck of trash or debris. The entire job took about a day and a half. Having experienced the way this company does business, I am not at all surprised that they have received such consistently high ratings by other Angie's List members. In my view, they set the standard for service companies.

The woodgrain matched great! We had no problems at all with the installation. Two men put 11 windows in our home in 90 minutes. They saved the plate glass in the bay window for the next day because they also had to replace the wood underneath due to water damage. They trimmed out everything with vinyl in one & a half days. Everything was neat and clean. There was no tracking in dirt or grass. They took their shoes off each time they entered our home. Our 20 y/o daughter never knew they were here. She slept right through most of it! They were wonderful! Our home is now warm and inviting. Our electric bill is much lower, thanks to Kelly's. My husband researched many replacement window companies online before choosing Kelly's windows. We highly recommend them!

It was very easy to set up an appointment. I was going to be delayed about 10min for the appointment so I notified them ahead of time and they were very kind about it. Matt arrived on time and was polite and professional. They seem to carry a good quality window but at this time replacement windows are just more than I want to spend on this project this year so I will be seeking sill repair/replacement instead but will certainly consider using this company when I am ready to do replacement in a year or two.

They did a great job. We dealt with a salesperson, and then an operations person came out to re-measure to double-check what the salesperson did, which was then conveyed to the installers. I think that’s a good business practice, very professional. They don’t sub-contract the labor, so their own employees do the work. The gentleman that did most of the installation had been with this company for 15 years, and he knew what he was doing. The technicians were always on time and let me know what was going on for the next day. I’m pretty picky, and very few home projects have I been satisfied with. These guys really did a good job and I’ve referred them to others. It was a good experience.

It was great. They got the job done quickly and neatly. I’m happy with their services.

Customer satisfaction was the number one concern from Kelly Window and Door personnel. I was concerned about matching the exterior and interior color schemes of our house, the outside is a two-tone beige color scheme and the interior is a medium colored stain. We selected beige for the exterior window color with a trim-coil that perfectly blends the windows into our exterior color scheme. For the interior we selected a medium wood grain that nicely blends with the stained wood trim we have throughout the house. From the curb you would not know the windows had been replaced they matched so well, down to the number of lites in each window. It took a little over a day to have the old windows removed and new ones installed. After the windows were installed we immediately noticed the house was much quieter. The windows are a easy to operate and clean. We haven't had enough time to see the effect on our energy bills, but I'm sure there will be a positive impact. Overall we were exceptionally pleased with the quality of the windows and the service from Kelly Window and Door.

It was wonderful. I was really happy with them. I compared them with two other companies, and they were in line. They did a quick job. I’m happy with their services.

Kelly Window & Door was 1 of 4 estimates I received during the week of July 9, 2011. I liked the product and the presentation was friendly with no pressure. They pretty much beat out all the others in price as well. After the agreement was signed, they told me to expect at least 6 to 8 weeks for installation. They were right on target with the estimated time of installation and kept me updated along the way. On the day the installation began, the workers showed up ready for business. They didn't waste any time and it was very hot that week. I was so impressed with their work ethics and that means a lot to me and my husband as we are both hard working Police Officers. The work was completed in just 3 days with only 1 little hick-up - which they jumped on like ninjas!! We are very impressed with this company and would recommend them to everyone. I'm so glad Angies List has this service because we might not have found Kelly Window & Door otherwise. Since the installation we have received nothing but complements from neighbors and friends. Oh, and one of the best things is that we no longer hear people/cars going by or neighbors mowing grass or standing in their own yards talking. Peace at last!

They were very prompt and very good about coming out. The job was okay. At first, they said they could give me a bay window in the front. After I put my money in, they called and said that they could not actually build it. The bait and switch put me off. The guys that came out to do the work were nice and seemed to know what they were doing, but they were overweight. I think the weight gets in the way of doing good work. The job turned out fine, but when they washed the windows at the end they didn't do a very good job. That's also because they were heavy and overweight and they sweated a lot. I am still struggling with the bait and switch. That was pretty painful to deal with. I was able to haggle with them on the price and they were able to work with me on that. I never went and complained to them, but they had me fill out some sort of a survey which I filled out and mentioned the bait and switch thing. I don't think I would use them again.

We were very pleased. It is still in very good shape. They are very knowlegeable of the product and how to properly install it. The installation is very important with windows and doors. You can have a good window or door, but if it isn't installed properly than you don't have good insulation.

Salesman James Trantham come out and gave us about a 2 hour presentation. Very nice, easy to get along with, and not overly pushy. He was confident in the product and the company he was selling. We informed him at the end we were looking at a few window company's. This turned out to be a test after we told the 1st company who came out, that person got indignant with us. James did not, he took it in stride and stood behind his product. We had a total of 6 window company's come and give quotes. What made Kelly Window and Door stand out was the product, warranty, the look and they worked with us on the pricing/financing. We got a very good 24 month 0% financing deal. The men installing the windows worked very well together and went right at taking out and installing the new windows. The very large picture window was a treat to watch go up to the second floor. We have a open foyer with a 25 foot ceiling. This to the average person would seem dauting. But Gary and his gang took it in stride and got the window in with a lot of sweat and muscle. I was filming the this process from 2 different points in case anything dramatic did occur. But everything went fine and the huge window is in! Everyone has always been very helpful and courteous when calling. Bruce was very flexiable with the install date and replacing one screen window that is not working 100%. I called the next morning after finding one of the screens would not come out and one of the locking mechanisms wouldn't work. Not a problem! Excellent customer service Bruce! That was a test they passed very well.
