This was not a turnkey operation; we dealt with other vendors for hardware, glass, mirrors, and a countertop, and Bob's team handled coordination and installation. This required more constant involvement on our part but seemed likely to yield the best results. We're happy with the updated master bathroom, and glad that they also switched out all our doorknobs for us. The only problem area was plumbing; we had to get their subcontractor back a couple of times after the work was completed, and several months later we found another installation problem that they had to come back and resolve. The updated shower, countertop, mirrors, and other fixtures went very well. Bob provided us with useful information about options and didn't pressure us to follow his preferences. We'll certainly consult with him again if we do more work of this type.
Description of Work: We engaged Bob's team to redo our master bathroom shower, install new fixtures in all the bathrooms, and perform a few other tasks as we switch from brass to nickel throughout the house. We decided to use them after being underwhelmed by proposals from other vendors.

Bob was very helpful and transparent. We were thinking about remodeling our bathrooms before we sold our house. For our purposes it wasn't worth, though it would have been if we were staying in the house. Bob clearly does excellent quality work and is very nice. He was quickly able to put all the information into a comprehensive spreadsheet of costs.
Description of Work: N/A He would have completely remodeled two old bathrooms.

[Removed Member Name] was great to meet with. After reviewing the budget cost with [Removed Member Name] we both felt that it would not help sale the house.

We contacted Bob Winstead of Perfect Spaces in December of 2011 along with a few other contractors. Bob came the same day we contacted him to look at our kitchen and discuss ideas for a remodel. My wife and I instantly liked his ideas, artistic attention to details, and down-to-earth personality. His abundant experience with kitchen remodels and his explanation of the process helped us feel confident in his ability to oversee and coordinate our project from end to end. After consideration, we felt that he would be the right person for our remodeling job and agreed to hire him to start in late January. Bob worked with us through selection of the granite and tile considering our tastes while sharing his expertise. We had those items picked out in February. He gave us advice and contact information to guide our selections for lighting, sinks, faucets, and appliance upgrades (new slide-in range, vent hood, microwave, and wet bar refrigerator). We also met with Bob a few times to discuss scheduling and the overall design. Each time we worked with Bob he brought a creative energy and expertise to the project. He was adept at guiding us through the planning process by sharing his knowledge and listening carefully to our vision for the kitchen. Bob was very attentive to our desires and demands, accommodating them when reasonable and gently nudging us away from things that did not make sense. Before demolition began, Bob met the cabinet contractor at our house and we all planned together. We were extremely impressed by the professional rapport and communication Bob had established with his subcontractor. In Mid-March, Bob's contractors for drywall came in to do the demolition, which included removal of the existing cabinets, countertops, and island. The ineffectual coat closet and miniscule pantry was removed to make room for a wet bar. During this process we ran into one challenge; the wall between the closet and pantry was discovered to be load-bearing. Immediately, Bob and his contractor knew just the proper solution (install an engineered beam to spread the load from the stairs to a steel girder on the other side of our ceiling). We were impressed by how this "setback" was handled with the right solution in a manner that did not cause us any anxiety. Once the demolition work was completed cabinets, sinks, island, and countertops were installed in quick order. In fact, much of the "big" work was done so quickly that we were only "locked out" of our kitchen for about one week. Bob worked with us on the most challenging aspect of the remodel--designing proper ventilation. We spent time researching what could be done based on our kitchen's challenging layout, and in the end, he helped bring our vision to life by coming up with a good way to hide the ductwork (by having the cabinetmaker "extend" the cabinets to the 9' ceiling). He also skillfully assisted in the execution of my wife?s vision for a custom treatment to the kitchen island. After this work, things slowed a bit as one scheduling conflict with the tile installation delayed and had a cascading effect on some of the finishing work. We also had a major unrelated plumbing issue arise. Bob skillfully rearranged the work schedule to minimize the impact and even worked to assist the plumbing repair. One minor oversight with electrical (had to have the new microwave put on its own circuit) and a couple of dings in the cabinets meant that the finishing touches carried on until mid-May. Bob handled both of these situations in a professional and satisfactory manner. Bottom line: we were back into a fully-functional and gorgeous kitchen by the end of April, which was only five weeks total. This exceeded our expectations. We entered this process believing that dealing with contractors would be a headache and instead found it to be a wonderfully creative process. Bob was absolutely the perfect person for our job. His attention to detail, his relationships with top-notch contractors, and his ability to work with clients makes him a standout in the industry. Our kitchen is the embodiment of our personalities and perfectly accommodates our lifestyle, making it our Perfect Space. We look forward to calling on Bob in the future to help with other remodeling projects and recommend him without reservation to others.
Description of Work: [Note: I am reposting this review under Bob's new business; the work here was done when he was working as "Perfect Spaces". I've recently rehired Bob to do two of our bathrooms, so I'll post a separate review when that work is completed.] We had all of our builder-grade kitchen cabinets removed and replaced with custom cherry cabinets, including a built-in pantry cabinet. Our island was removed and replaced with a newer custom-built island which was extended to add counter space and to enclose our kitchen trash can. We also had our way-too-small pantry and coat closet removed to make room for a wet bar. Our laminate countertops were replaced with granite. A glass tile backsplash was installed behind all new countertops. We had our doorway to our dining room enclosed and converted to a pass-through, which gave us room to extend our countertop and cabinets. Pendant lights were installed above the island, and new recessed spots were installed between the island and our cabinets. Finally, we added true ventilation by installing a wall-mounted hood vent over our stove. Our existing hardwood floors were repaired where the closet and pantry walls used to be. The adjoining foyer and dining room were painted to match the new color scheme used in our kitchen.

Bob has done a wonderful job for us. Our kitchen was 20 years old, and when it was built the builder used the cheapest design/ materials available. Also, we had white floors, white countertops/ cabinets, and white walls. We wanted something stylish and amazing and bring color into the space. We were looking for an update to the kitchen, but we also had learned exactly how our kitchen was inefficient and annoying. For example, I always hated how I felt like I was walking ALL the way around the counter to get to the living room. I often go from the living room to the kitchen (snacks and drinks for my daughter, and while I clean up each evening) and while it wasn't a HUGE problem, it was annoying. We were looking for solutions for these problems. Also, I LOVE islands. I was hoping to have an island in my kitchen. [No real workflow reason, but just a "dream".] Lastly, our kitchen felt cramped and small. The house is very nice, but the kitchen was poorly designed and seemed to have a lot of unused space. So in our first few meetings we discussed workflow, and pros and cons of different solutions. Our kitchen area was small, but Bob came up with a great idea of removing the pantry and expanding our counter space. Which gave us two prep areas, which was awesome. We were gaining in cabinets, and we even added a small pantry space to the side which allowed us to have enough storage in our kitchen. I ended up deciding against the island (just too little space). But due to the gain in room in the kitchen in general, there is enough room for me to place a small table with wheels (a portable island) in our breakfast nook so I can just roll it in when I am cooking anything major. We also decided to shift the walkway over about 3 feet which made the kitchen much more accessible from the living room. These were all awesome changes that made me love my kitchen. Throughout the project, I had a chance to talk to the various contractors, and they were all amazing. They were very knowledgeable and did very good work. It was a relief to see their work unfold and see how high in quality the work was and how quickly the project came together. [A month is a long time not to have a kitchen, but it was SO worth it.] And the final kitchen...one word...Gorgeous... The whole project did cost more than we anticipated, but we knew from the beginning how much it would cost. Any changes to the price were related to design changes we made and we had ample opportunity to consider if it was worth it to us. To be honest, I think the whole thing was well worth the money, especially considering the quality of our finished product. Also, we compared the initial estimate to estimates provided by other remodeling firms, and it was very much in line with what we would've paid any other firm. To be honest, I have a feeling we got off cheap considering the solid wood cabinets, and the beautiful work that was done. I am so glad we chose Bob for this project. I think the "worst" parts of the project was the cost, and feeling like our design decisions were made at the last minute. I don't know that I had in my head what the finished product would actually look like. When I was making decisions, they were decisions driven by functional desires, not by how the kitchen would "look". I kind of wish I would've sat down and printed out some pictures from the internet showing the overall feel I wanted my finished kitchen to have. But the finished product is like nothing I saw online and it is exactly what I wanted, so the system definitely worked. I look back and wonder if I would've done that...would I have not gotten the awesome kitchen I have? So, I can say I wish I would've done that, but I hate to think that I might've disrupted the process. I can't say enough for the great design, and awesome finished product. He has been very dedicated and responsive throughout the project and has put our mind at ease about various concerns/ decisions. He always stops to consider any concerns I have (even if it is last minute and about something I really know nothing about...like lighting...) and that is something that means a great deal to me. I would recommend him to anyone doing a kitchen remodel.

We hired Bob Winstead originally in 2012 to renovate the kitchen in our early 1960's split-level home. Bob was a great listener as he took in what we envisioned for the renovation. We instantly connected with Bob and the work began soon thereafter. Bob gave us several options ranging from budget to luxury which helped us to get the changes we needed within a cost scheme we could afford. He was always willing to modify the plans if budget concerns arose and had some excellent suggestions for cost saving options. Bob's ability to design, and eye for detail were evident throughout the process. He had a great team of skilled contractors and they obviously enjoyed working for Bob. They did their work quickly, but with high quality. They cleaned up at the end of each day, and did everything they could to minimize the impact of the renovation on our household. Communication with Bob was terrific. He was always available and returned our calls without exception. after the initial kitchen renovation, we were so happy with Bob and his tradesmen we had them renovate our master bath and completely renovate our downstairs family room. We couldn't have been happier with the work Bob Winstead did on our home renovations, and we certainly would not hesitate to go to Bob with any future projects.
