The reason we selected Home Depot for new kitchen cabinets is that they have evening hours when both my wife and I could meet and select the cabinets, finish, sizes, etc of the cabinets and their location was convenient to our home. As we were selecting custom cabinets from a manufacturer that sells across multiple retailers, we felt the quality would be the same, regardless who we ordered it from. What we discovered is while the product may be the same, the quality and training of the people who order, install, and follow up is more important. What a mess. Our Kitchen Designer seemed to be sincere and interested in helping us, however I am not sure that the were fully trained on the designing software or the product offerings. It took several attempts to get the initial design laid out. We had to revise several times as he didn't seem to be listening to our requests. The recirculating fan in the cabinet above the range was especially troublesome (first attempt was quoted at $5,000+) , as were the glass cabinet doors along the ceiling tier of cabinets. Once we settled on an initial design they sent a measurer out to make sure the design would work in the kitchen. At which point we were required to pay the full $14,175 cost of cabinets and installation before HD would order it. I put this on a CC rather than writing a check, as a way to address any disputes and it appears that it may come to that. The real problems became evident after the cabinets were delivered. The designer told us that an installer would be there within a couple of days to check the "cabinets in." and that they would start installation about a week after that. So we scheduled all our other contractors around that schedule. I contacted HD to let them know the cabinets arrived on October 21. I expected a call to schedule the "Check in", however after several days, over a dozen un-returned calls, numerous emails copied to no less than 3 people, they were finally able to get an installer to check in the cabinets and start installation on November 4th...Pushing back the other contractors. The installer lived 90 minutes away and arrived late on November 4th. During the check in and installation it was evident there were several problems with the order. 1) The crown moulding was ordered wrong and the installer had to re-configure pieces to make it work.. 2) A valance was shipped that was deleted from the design, 3) Cabinets came in with a mix of extended face frames and flush face frames which didn't line up 4) All 6 of the furniture style end panels all came with a rabbeted edge that should have matched up with the cabinets that were supposed to have the extended face frames. This wasn't discovered until the cabinets were installed. The installer suggested that end panels that were full (Not rabbetted), to be re-ordered to make it work. However, this will leave the panels appearing to be "glued on" rather than look like they are integral to the cabinets. As it is,the will have to add 1/4" spacer to all the extended face frame cabinets to make it line up. Unfortunately it's a defect that we will have to live with as it's too late to rip out the cabinets and start over. The installer left us with the 6 panels and one door cabinet that had a defect, and said that they'd have to reorder and finish the installation once new panels were delivered. He sent photos of the problems. That was on November 5th. After several more emails, voice mail messages left, I finally contacted the Home Depot installation on November 13th and actually got a live person only to discover that no orders or actions to replace the panels had been started....More than a week had gone by since the installer sent the photos to them/ As this was a Friday, the new orders would not go in until Monday.. I am writing this review on Saturday the 14th. It will be at least 2 more weeks before a RUSH order for the panels will be delivered. Then, HD will have to schedule the installer. (Last time that took two weeks). It will be lucky to have any resolution on this until Christmas. I gave Home Depot a "C" on price, however that currently should also be an "F" as the delays and problems have cost us time and money in dealing with other contractors in the timeline and project. We elected to go to a higher priced supplier for the countertop, but they got it measured, ordered, and installed in exactly 7 days...while HD quoted 3 weeks..

First, it took a couple of weeks just to get the measurements taken, then they had to be taken again about a week after that. It's unclear why the same person came out to measure twice for a kitchen and bath remodel, but that's how it's done at Home Depot. My remodel included new cabinets, granite countertop, tile flooring etc. Home Depot promised a turnkey operation for my convenience. What followed, in fact, were numerous unreturned email messages and phone calls, missed deadlines and broken promises of good and timely service. At one point I was told my design had to be pushed behind that of another customer who was getting cabinets in five rooms (in other words, a really important job compared with mine). Six weeks -- and many excuses -- after my first contact with the kitchen designer, she finally provided a complete design and estimate. Meantime I went to the store on the other side of Walnut Street and had a great experience, so today I just ordered from them. Needless to say, Home Depot lost the chance to do business with me, except for the estimate, which I paid for before knowing any better.
Description of Work: I paid $50 for Home Depot to come to my home and measure to provide an estimate for kitchen and bath remodeling.

The sale went well. The salesperson in the store was very knowledgeable and informed. The price was excellent. The delivery company arrived 4 days later with the washer and dryer. Their delivery truck left huge oil stains in the driveway. They failed to connect the drain hose properly, which we didn't notice until it came loose a week later while washing clothing. It flooded our laundry room and home office. We settled with them for damages.
