Well, all of the great reviews about Healthy Home Restoration are true! Right from the start, we had a great experience with Amy who helped us set up our appointment. She was very reassuring and really went the extra mile to ensure we could get the earliest appointment that would work with our schedule. On the morning of our appointment, Dennis arrived right on time (if not a couple of minutes early). He introduced himself and respectfully removed his shoes in order to keep our home clean. He was wonderful!! He was polite, professional, courteous and very personable (which is only the beginning). He spent an entire hour with us inspecting our garage and crawl space. During this inspection, he provided us with a wealth of information and he never once cut corners to speed the inspection process along. He was so thorough and detailed as he discussed the current status of our dwelling as well as possible solutions to several issues that we were concerned about. He even alerted us to an issue with our air conditioning that we were unaware of. Dennis has a vast amount of knowledge not only about his trade but about many others which is so fantastic since a home is not just a segmented structure, rather, a series of units that are connected and work in concert with one another. We also found Dennis to be very honest with a great deal of integrity. He never once pressured us into doing anything...even though he could have made more money from the visit or from subsequent visits. His pricing is also extremely fair. Dennis and his company are really fantastic. They are the whole package. You will be so happy that you chose Healthy Home Restoration. We are so happy that we did and we will not only use Dennis for any future needs but we will be enthusiastically recommending him to other people. Healthy Home Restoration offers you intelligent solutions to meet your needs and you will be so pleased to see how delightful Dennis is to work with. He clearly cares about what he does and about his customers!
Description of Work: The services that were performed were a complete inspection of our crawl space and our garage for mold.

I had Dennis come out after seeing high ratings on Angie's list for mold issues in my basement/crawlspace. I already had another vendor come in to give me an estimate on some water damage in the main house. Dennis came in and schooled me on the demolition needs on the water damage, much more detailed and through than the flooring company. He gave me a very fair price to rip out the floor and assure no mold would appear down the road. I also had gotten a estimate to have the mold problem in the basement eliminated and sealed from future issues. He even went one step further and we discussed putting in a deck over a dirt portion of the basement, instead of concrete, at a significant savings. I hired him for both jobs. The work crew took a little longer than expected, but the quality of the job was worth the wait. Can't say enough. Great Job!

They will definitely be the first people I call whenever I need this kind of service. Even the receptionist, Amy, was a pleasure over the phone. Overall a great experience.
Description of Work: I am renovating my kitchen and noticed patches of mold on the exterior wall when I pulled away the insulation. Worried, I called around to see if anyone could take a look at it the next day. Mike from Healthy Home Restoration was able to come out that afternoon and assess the issue. He tested the moisture levels in the area surrounding the mold, went through the crawlspace with me, and then explained possible causes of the problem. We did not notice any issues and agreed the probably cause was some water in the crawlspace that had leaked during the renovation process. Mike was very knowledgeable and professional. At the end of it all, he provided me with two different antimicrobial to spray on the affected locations and gave me instructions on their use free of charge. He really made my day.

Overall, the job was performed to expectations which were very high and very professionally. It was done on time and a little below the price quoted which is highly unusual.
Description of Work: For years, I have had problems with water sitting under my house after heavy rains. I suspected some mold under the house as a result so I called this company originally for that reason. I was trying to just get rid of the mold. I did not expect to fix the problems with water under my house. I had many plumbers look at this issue and they basically told me that my house was on some low land so I had no real solutions. I found this company on Angie's List and they had good ratings so I decided to call them to see how bad the mold was. I set an appointment. To my surprise, Dennis C*** showed up on time and ready to do his job. After crawling under our house, he came back out and confirmed that we had mold. He didn't just tell us that we had mold - he had actually taken pictures to show us what he saw. He even pointed out a couple of more issues that he thought needed to be fixed but he was not pushy. He was straight to the point kind of guy. Dennis priced the mold restoration at around $650 dollars. We asked if he could offer a solution to the water problem and he suggested a french drain system around the perimeter of the house which was about a $1800 job and possibly sealing the crawlspace. We opted for the french drain system and mold removal. We set an appointment to do both jobs simultaneously. On the appointed day, the work crew showed up on time and started the work. The job took about 2 days and the work looked great. Putting in the french drain was not easy because we have a very low crawlspace. All that digging and hauling in rock took time. No problems from the workers. They did not disappear 2 or 3 hours for lunch. They worked steady. When they connected the french drain to a ditch drain that I had, they took great care to not destroy the grass sods. Before the job was done, Dennis came back out, inspected the work, took more pictures to show us the work, and got our approval. I was all done very professionally. My wife and I were tremendously pleased. Now, a month later, my house is dry underneath and I see no problems with that. Good job!

First Dennis crawled in the crawl space to get an estimate and truly understand what was wrong. Side note: he was the only one out of 7 companies who went into the crawlspace and told us about a leaky drainage pipe we had (disaster waiting to happen). We decided to hire HHR since they had the cheapest estimate and were the most thorough in the estimation process. Dennis sent a complete report with pictures that helped us understand what we truly were getting. They spent about 3 days under our crawlspace cleaning it up, and sealing it. I've been under since then and it looks amazing! After that Dennis came back to take a look at the work, made a punch list for his team to finish and the work was done. To sum up HHR - if the work would be acceptable on their house, it's not acceptable on your house. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: We had some what high humidity levels and mold in our crawl space. Dennis came and told us what a seal crawlspace would do for us and how it would help us.

Brad came and gave me the estimate. He spent about 45 minutes under the house taking pictures. When he crawled out. He showed me all the things that needed to be done. He explained my options and gave me an estimate that was lower by anywhere from $200.00 to $1,500.00 from the other estimates I had received. Brad was way more professional than any of the other companies estimators. That is why they got the job. The only problem during the whole job was a broken water pipe. This happened while they were installing the floor plastic. I called the front office and they stated they would pay half of the plumber cost. Since the pipes were 50 years old, I thought that was very fair.
Description of Work: Crawlspace Doctor totally transformed the crawlspace from a wet dirt floor with discarded building material from the original house construction in the late 60's. The fiberglass insulation was damp and falling off the floor joist. And the floor joist were moldy. The brick foundation had 2 open air vents front and back. These allowed dampness in. They removed all the material from the floor, removed all the fiberglass insulation, cleaned the floor joist. Then they added thick plastic to the complete floor space, up the brick veneer, and up the floor piers. They then filled the vents with brick and concrete and then blew about a 6 inch insulation foam on all 4 sides up about 3 foot. This completely closed in the crawlspace and made it part of the house. Instead of a damp and musty dirt pit under the house. They also added an new insulated crawlspace door.

Very well. Individual arrived on time and checked in with us and kept us informed as work progressed. He even found 2 mall plumbing leads that he recommended that we have repaired. When I had questions prior to the work being done, the company was very responsive.

The estimate was about $2000. There were 2 different options and they were obviously priced differently. I had one other provider give me a quote and one of their options was pretty comparable and the other guy was a little more expensive. I've only had 2 of them and one is going to be higher than the other, but you are going to get 2 to compare. They were reasonably priced in the same ballpark, but one was more than the other. The guy was pretty responsive, between my schedule and his schedule we picked the time frame that I could get off work and he had the time to get here which was acceptable. He was on time. He's still in the running. If I decide to go that direction, I would consider using him.
Description of Work: I've got a quote from Crawlspace Doctor. I was looking at a moisture problem in the house and they were giving me 2 options. One was trying to put an interior drain to collect the water and the second was to do a crawlspace encapsulation.

It was obvious during the initial meeting that these guys knew what they were talking about. The pictures they took and presented in a slide show were a great selling point for me. (I had received a 2nd much higher estimate from a guy in Italian loafers that never even climbed into the crawl space!) They kept the job site super clean and hauled away all debris. I was very satisfied with the results and noticed the hardwood floors downstairs did not seem as cold on the few cold nights we had during the winter. My only complaint would be better communication. It took 5 weeks after 'putting down a deposit' to get on the schedule to get the work done. I put that in ' ' because although I provided my card number to someone in the office to secure the deposit my card was never charged. Since I was given a start date 5 wks out I expected to receive a call and confirmation of exactly what time they would show up that day and what they planned to do and when. I did not heard from anyone from the time I put down the deposit until my scheduled start date. I waited until the afternoon of my scheduled start date to call and find out if / when they would actually be starting that day. I was told someone would call back and when I hadn't heard from anyone by 6pm I called again. I was finally told they be by 'sometime' the next day. My only complaint about the ad on Angie's List is the presentation of the coupons which did not indicate they couldn't be combined. This particular provider had three coupons. Each for $150 and each for a different service. One for insulation removal, one for crawl space waterproofing, and one for mold treatment. I was having all three services performed but was only allowed to use one coupon.
Description of Work: Remove insulation, treat mold, encapsulate crawl space.

This was a bad year for damage. They came and they did an outstanding job. They did an excellent job. We would recommend them. We spent a lot, at least $3000.00 if not more. Even though they did a great job, this was one of the situations where they were really great in the beginning but at the very end they had a hard time finishing out a few things. Outside of that, the work they did was excellent. They were real good to work with. It took quite a while. They really worked hard to get this done. It was a difficult job. They had to do the whole drying out process. It took a lot of attention on their part and they were very good to work with. Their punctuality was good. There were a few difficulties, but overall they did a great job. We would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Rainbow International came out in July and did an inspection and sealed the crawlspace. We had a pipe break under the house. They do water mitigation and all kinds of stuff like that.

As a Realtor, I helped my seller clients get estimates to satisfy a repair request by the buyers following their inspection. I had gotten two other estimates that I thought was very high and involved more than what was needed. In searching Angie's List for other contractors, I came across the Crawlspace Doctor who I had used before. I wasn't aware that he did this type of work and was pleasantly surprised to find out that his other company, Rainbow Int'l did this work. Dennis met me out at the house and was able to provide an estimate right away. Once my clients agree, the work was completed within a week.

Everything was done as quoted in the time quoted. The same guys came every day and they were very polite and professional. They discovered a leak in our hot water heater that was there for a while and shared the space for a day or so and re-organized their schedule to be able to work with the plumber while he replaced the hot water heater. They also discovered a leak in another pipe and again worked with the plumber when he came to fix that. We received another quote from another crawlspace person who ended up trying to oversell us and quoted twice as much. This work was a big hit to our budget and we appreciated the honesty of not trying to oversell us as the other (highly recommended) crawlspace quote seemed to do.

Had some excellent consultation prior to the work and we agreed on the entire crawlspace sealing process with a new perimeter drain system. I was hoping for homeowners insurance to cover this cost but the incident was 4 years old and I had switched insurance carriers so the old company would not honor due to a three year statute of limitations clause in NC. Crawlspace Dr. called every day prior to sending someone out to perform the work which was greatly appreciated due to keeping the dogs inside while they entered back yard for access to crawlspace. The initial estimate was honored so I was not shocked with a sudden increase in the bill due to unexpected increased labor - which did happen. There were several "punch list" items that needed additional attention after the work was initially completed and reviewed which did require a great deal of additional labor but the cost remained the same as the estimate. All in all a very good experience and I am totally satisfied with the results.
Description of Work: Had a bad problem with mold and moisture in the crawlspace. Hot water heater exploded several years ago and mold had continued to grow on the floor joists despite replacing the water heater with an external tankless system. Mold was removed and joists treated with anti-microbial solvent. Crawlspace was then sealed with thick overlapping plastic sheeting and heavy insulation in vent areas and support columns. Sealing the crawlspace also eliminates the moisture issues from poor grading around an old house and also saves us on energy loss since the old ductwork has been leaking ac/heat for many years in a very leaky crawlspace. Crawlspace Dr. sealed the crawlspace and installed a perimeter drain around the house foundation which never existed due to age of house - built in 1968. Now the crawlspace is sealed and we have no remaining moisture issues due to perimeter drain, thick plastic sheeting and re-route of the condensate pump from HVAC directly into the new perimeter drain. Excellent work and follow up. Highly recommend Crawlspace Dr. for your crawlspace needs.

I realized how serious and extensive water damage can be and the need to have an evaluation quickly. i also suggest you ask questions and direct them in their removal of cabinet drawers etc. They will put your things carefully in boxes but I needed to have some sense of organization for the boxes. I would go ahead and ask for any contractor recommendaitons for companies they have soon into the process so you can begin to check out references, look around etc. The restoration company does NOT do anything to do with your repair needs. When your floors and walls completely dry out, they will leave your property. This was an experience that I had little knowledge of before july 4. I also realize the need for a water cut-off to be convenient in my house and not under the house in the crawl space!!!!
Description of Work: I had a water leak on july 4th. in spite of the holiday, they came that night. I was somewhat overhwelmed with the magnitude of what the techinician was telling had to occur to detect the water damage. He was patient with me. it would be helpful if they had a 'information' document that explains the techincal issues. They pull up laminate flooring quickly to test for moisture. i would keep the a panel they pull up before all if thrown away-for future comparisons. They also will test any old vinyl flooring, based on age of your house, for asbestos. this is required and adds another two days to your restoration process. you have to get a seperate estimate for the abatement. Everything in your kitchen has to be pulled out for the abatement to occur. Be prepared for very loud fans and dehumidifers to dry out your floor. I found it very unsettling for my pets. overall, i was pleased but this process must occur quickly and you need to get your questions asked as soon as you realize you must use these services. My insurance claims adjuster was pleased that Ihad called them in the night of the leak.

They responded extremely quickly and did an excellent job to dry things, tear out things as needed, and get things dried and disinfected. There was a lot of damage, but their quick and effective response prevented further damage. They did everything in a professional manner.
Description of Work: A plumber checking a leak discovered a sewer backup that turned out to be due to a broken sewer pipe. He recommended calling Rainbow International. They came immediately, pumped out the "black water" from a bathtub, dried things out with huge fans, disinfected, and tore out flooring and some wallboard affected by the black water. No cost information is available because the insurance company paid them directly.

The leak was discovered about 9:00 at night. After the insurance company called Rainbow, Rainbow called back within 20 minutes. Their employee on call lived out of town. He had to drive to Cary, load a truck with fans and de-humidifiers and drive to our house. He arrived within 2 hours after Rainbow talked to us. He worked very quickly unloading equipment, pulled up carpet and setting up the equipment. We were very pleased with his speed and knowledge. The next day he returned with a crew and additional equipment. They discovered additional water in the crawl space and added additional drying equipment throughout he house. They had moisture meters and checked moisture levels twice a day. As areas dried out they removed equipment until it was all gone. We were very pleased with their promptness and professionalism. They kept us informed as what they were doing and what to expect. We would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: After a water heater pipe leak, Rainbow pulled up carpet, ran fans and de-humifdifiers, removed sheet rock and pulled doorframes so moisture could escape from walls. The water wet the insulation in our attic, carpet and walls in the second floor, the ceiling and walls on our first floor and our crawl space. Insurance paid for their services.

Rainbow visited the same day the leak was found and started to work right away after giving estimate. Pumped out water, removed damaged insulation and all of vapor barrier. Placed fans and dehumidifier. Visited about weekly until water was gone and humidity was reduced to acceptable levels. Dehumidification took a couple of weeks. After that was donw, they replaced under floor insulation that was removed and replaced entire vapor barrier. All representatives were professional in demeanor and final result was very good. I said that I would use them again but really hope that it is not necessary.

Basically, the job started with an inspection of our crawl space then different options were presented for the results we were looking for. (We wanted to insulate our crawl space to remedy our cold floors) After the inspection and a decision was reached by my wife and myself the job was started; about a week after inspection. The overall job took a day longer than what was originally expected, but it was no major burden to us, and all measures were taken by Crawl Space Doctor to insure they did not disturb our household (we have a six month old). At every step of the job they were great at educating us on their process and requirements. After they finished the job they gave me an opportunity to inspect and sign off on their work. My crawl space looks great and we have noticed a considerable difference in the warmth of our home. I would honestly use Crawl Space Doctor again if we ever move to a home with another drafty crawl space or if they broaden their services beyond crawl spaces. They meet all my expectations for a professional contractor.
Description of Work: removed insulation from crawl space subfloor and transferred to box header, cleaned/treated mold, installed a output vent from HVAC, installed 60ml plastic insulation on ground and up the side of concrete block foundation, sealed an air intake vent for HVAC, modified the crawlspace door with insulation and sealed all vents.

They were very personable. They weren’t just here to sell me their product. They told me and showed me. I didn't go in the crawlspace but he took pictures and I have seen it from the doorway. Now I go in the crawlspace, which is a biggie. They really wanted to make sure that I understood and they answered any of my questions. They took a lot of time because it wasn't a rush thing. It was quite a bit of money and they were not pushing us to make a decision right away. We would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Crawlspace Doctor just finished a job for us. They sealed the crawlspace because we had a lot of moisture and mold and the insulation was all falling out. We just had a lot of mess down there so they came and cleaned it up and sealed it so it we wouldn’t get any more mold.

I requested crawl space insulation. They first queried about the state of the crawl space and how it should be before insulation is installed. Because of some recent work we've done, the crawl space met their conditions. They graciously provided me the name of their insulation installer to contact directly. If we had any problems, call them back. Also, they will check back in late spring to see if we have any problems.
Description of Work: They ended up providing the name of their insulation installer.

It went great. Everyone who worked on the space was punctual and polite. When the moisture was still not where we wanted it at one point, Brad brought in a super industrial dehumidifier and installed it for about a week. We really felt like they were working with us to give us the best experience possible, rather than trying to wrap up the work we had contracted them to do quickly. I highly recommend Crawlspace Doctor!
Description of Work: Crawlspace Doctor sealed our home's crawlspace. We had had a leak in a water pipe in the space a few months earlier, and the moisture in the space had not returned to acceptable levels. Dennis, the owner, and our contact Brad were incredibly patient and informative, helping us sort out what needed to be done to improve the air quality of our crawlspace and our home. They did terrific work, and Brad returned a month later to check our moisture levels and to make sure we were satisfied. He in particular was wonderful to work with. Since their work was done, our air quality seems much better -- and the crickets which used to live down there are all gone!
