Initially, we hired Dream Home Design (DHD) to remodel our master bathroom. We kept the same floorplan, but a complete teardown of everything. We loved the outcome so much that we decided to make our home our forever home and update the kitchen to something more aesthetically pleasing. The entire experience was great. A bit overwhelming, but Luisa is such a professional. She really knows how to treat her clients.

We were very satisfied with the master bath remodel done on our home this past December. Luisa is a talented designer and was cognizant to our needs and specifications. Jesus and Jose are meticulous with their details. The project was completed in a timely fashion. All our concerns were met professionally. This is a well run team.

We were very excited, Luisa had great ideas and was told the project would take 3-4 weeks. We had others bid on the job but decided to go with Dream Home. Everything started out fine - demolition took place on Sept. 23rd. electrician came, plumber came then nothing waited for inspector. Apparently some mix up because we live in Apex but Fuquay for inspector. So we waited then finally inspector came then no one showed up for a week to continue the work. Then every week after that they only worked 1 day. Drywall guy came did his work, waited a day for it to dry next day sanded then realized he did a bad job so he had to come back a fix walls. They overlooked some electrical work so we had to have the electrician back. When the painters finally came they arrived late 11:30 (which happened a lot with their sub-contractors) by 1:30 they had only painted a small area on the ceiling. My husband lost it and called the office to ask why it takes 2 guys 2 hours to paint a small area when there were lots of other walls that needed to be painted as well. They then sent over 2 more guys to finish the painting. At this point we are 7 weeks in to a 3-4 week project. Finally plumber came back to install toilet and faucet, at the end of that day we were told they were done with project - Enjoy. The next morning we woke to water on the floor, a $98 toilet they charged us $500 for that didn't even flush 1 square of paper. Also noticed that on a turn-key bathroom project they never thought to ask or install a toilet paper & towel holder, apparently that is extra. Plumber came back and told us he had mentioned to Jesus that the toilet was not working quite right but Jesus said it was fine. We had to call them again and request a new toilet of higher quality. The project also required them to close up a wall and replace molding which we specifically asked that they replace with a solid piece and they said yes but when we reviewed it upon completion we noticed that they pieced 2 sections together uneven - which looked awful. We had to point it out to them and ask they replace it. We were told through out this very long process that they only do very 'high quality work'. Why then did the dry wall, plumber and electrician all have to come back?? I would never use them again and although they are very nice people they sub out everything!! You are better off going to Home Depot picking out what you like and getting a 'handy man' to do the work. BTW they are expensive!!
Description of Work: We had a butler's pantry turned into a Powder room.

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your review because I believe there is something to be learned from every experience. Unfortunately, we are not in control of inspections and how fast or slow a town's office processes an inspection request. I would like to clarify that you were not charged $500 for a toilet, you had an allowance for plumbing fixtures and any remainder of that allowance not used, was deducted on your final bill. Despite your husband's rudeness and lack of respect, we were all able to keep our composure and finish your project through. Your project was finished within the time that was set on your contract and done within a budget you agreed to and all changes or fixes requested were done so. We do not subcontract all of our work, and each person on our team takes the time necessary to finish any portion of the work and it is always most difficult when dealing with a home-owner who does not understand timing and wants to rush the work being done. Good luck!

One of the main selling points of Dream Home Design was that they were a one stop shop for everything for our kitchen and bathroom redesign. We had looked at other contractors, however, they only provided the labor. Dream Home Design provided guided us to choose what we liked from all the options in their showroom. We gave them our budget and they showed us how immaculate they could make our bathroom while staying within our budget. We obviously had to have some wiggle room for the unexpected behind our walls. One of the unexpected things was our plumbing had to be replaced. Thankfully it didn't hurt too much, however, I prefer to have good plumbing for a new bathroom. They were very trustworthy and we left them our key so they could come and go as they needed. They let us know when to expect someone at the house usually via email or text message. In the end we have a two beautiful new bathrooms and an beautiful modern kitchen.
Description of Work: Kitchen - installed all new wood cabinets, granite counter tops, installed over the range microwave, tile on floors. Bathroom # 1 - gutted bathroom, replaced plumbing, then rebuilt the bathroom with new cabinets, granite counter tops, tile floor, shower, new toilet, new everything! Bathroom #2: same as bathroom #1

I really wish that the other reviewer from March 7 had not waited so long to review as it would have saved me a lot of heartache and money because I would not have hired DHD and I would likely have a nicely redone bath right now. I too found Luisa?s design skills to be very good but the back end of the job?actually doing the work-- was where it all fell apart. Their contractors do not deliver a quality ?dream home? product. Like the other reviewer, I also signed a contract and felt bound by it to continue the work with them?however, they walked off the job leaving me with a badly tiled floor that is not flat?it has lippage all over the place, and untiled tub front, and a bathtub surround unfinished that was not done correctly in the first place. The grout is cracked and coming apart because it was used where caulk should have been used?although that was the least of it! They had to install the cabinets 3 times before they got it right. They even had the gall to send the same guy out a third time who had done it incorrectly the first two times, after promising me that Jesus, the co-owner, would come and do it himself. They tried to alleviate the issues with the floor and the splash but were unable to do so and flat out refused to send another tile guy. I asked repeatedly for someone who could do the job right and they refused! The one who did the job did not have the skills necessary to deliver a quality job let alone fix the mistakes he made. Btw, the price of $3665 does not include the cabinetry?only the badly laid floor, the tub splash and the cabinet install. After they did the cabinet install, I thought we were going to move on and get the countertops templated and deal with the floor and splash issues later but they walked off the job! I probably would have done better just hiring someone blindly off of Craigslist. For sure, it would not have cost as dearly. That is the short version. There were many other smaller issues. I was also billed $150 for builnose tile that never appeared. My only advice to anyone considering hiring them is to save yourself a lot of time and money and don?t. They are very nice people, but, they do not hire contractors who know what they are doing. And when you point out deficiencies they respond with excuses instead of making it right.
Description of Work: The provider was hired to install approx 100 sf of 12x24 inch porcelain tile, tile the side of the tub and tub splash, install cabinets, countertops, electrical, etc for a master bath update. The overall cost of the job was originally going to be around $5-6K

Luisa Gomez (owner) is professional, friendly, efficient and a very talented designer. She presented a variety of options for the look and feel of our new kitchen and bathrooms and gave many welcomed suggestions in each aspect of the remodel. With SO many different styles and options out there, she helped me figure out how to make the difficult choices (materials, fixtures, paint colors, etc.), mostly staying within our budget. Her husband, Jesus, participates in and oversees most of the physical aspects of the projects. He is a hands-on perfectionist, working every day with others in every phase--from demolition to installations to clean up to the final touch-ups. Both Luisa and Jesus (and their staff) are committed to quality, professional work and they changed/fixed things that either did not meet expectation or, in my case, when I simply changed my mind. The kitchen, 1 bathroom and wet bar remodel began the first week in January 2014, with the understanding that it must be complete by March 1, in time for a big party I was hosting. They worked tirelessly to meet the deadline, overcoming many obstacles (uneven floor, granite countertop breaking during install) and working into the night and on weekends when necessary. It took every bit of time we had but the projects were completed in time for the party. The other 2 bathrooms and entertainment center were spread out over the next several months as time allowed and were completed by mid-summer 2014. We are extremely pleased with the results of our remodel and really enjoyed working with Dream Home Designs. I definitely plan to use them again for future projects and have already recommended them to others.

Luisa is an excellent designer with great ideas. She was able to help this novice select tile work, cabinetry, design and colors. When I doubted the outcome, I was wrong to have doubted. Delivering on this design was fraught with problems which is why I took a few months off before I wrote this review. I signed the contract the first week in May for a full and master bath renovation. I needed to keep one functional bathroom so we were going to do the job in phases. Demo was May 28th and the job was finished in mid July for the one sink, one bath small but full sized bathroom. Initially there was a calendar scheduled provided regarding when they'd be working on the bath but they got off schedule earlier. I had to repeatedly request the next month's schedule and it was eventually provided but never followed. Access to the house was not an issue as I provided a key but they were busy with other projects and mine seemed not to be a priority. The cast iron porcelin covered tub and the 5 gallon toilet was the only thing I kept to reuse for phase 1 of the project. The tub was not protected during demolition or other work. It was nicked up in places. Because debris was allowed in the tub drain, it did present a problem when the tub was first used. The toilet was fine...but left sitting outside on my front porch for the duration. Workers didn't clean up after themselves with dust and debris in that I'd come home and pickup or vacuum with my shop vac. The carpet outside the bath was partially protected for at least a while but paints set on the carpet were apparently dirty. I have cleaned the area with my hand held shampooer but it'll require steam cleaning. I believe it was just after the tiling was done that I found they had used my outdoor hose to rinse their buckets and dump the white clumps of residue down my side embankment where the neighbors could see. Fortunately, the substance was water soluble and the rain washed it away. Following the initial demo, I noticed what I thought was water damage or mold on the floor board to which the tiles would be attached. With insistance that replacement was not necessary but they'd do the replacement for a fee, they agreed to replace the ~3x3 section of floor board before beginning tile work. Finally, after the project was complete and we could use the bathroom, 2 months later September 7th the glued-on large wall mirror fell off the wall and crashed to the floor in the middle of the night. The glue had not held to the paint and there were no fasteners to hold it in place and I'm told by a friend who has done this work that the wall was not properly prep'd. My alarm went off and I called 911 fearing a breakin at 3am. The officer found the broken mirror. The mirror was reordered and replaced with fasteners a month later. Had anyone been on the toilet when the mirror fell, it would have resulted in a serious or fatal injury. The master bath (phase 2) was part of the contract or I would not have continued. Demolition occurred July 16th and there was never a calendar. If I was told when the workers were coming, it was the same day or the night before or after they came. Again, they had a key. I asked that my bedroom be sealed off and protected from the dust that would likely be created with the demo. They did and I was able to avoid that problem. Despite my attempt to protect the tub drain from collection of debris, my rag was removed during demo and the drain again was filled with debris. We were replacing tile inside the tub and taking it up the ceiling. They did not put backer board behind the height of the original tile but this was caught by a friend monitoring the progress of the project while I was out of town. My house seemed to be the usual place for a potty break. I say this as my half bath had tracked in dust and dirty finger marks on the door and counter despite the duration of the visit or work performed. It was the end of August when we learned that the cabinetry ordered for me was for another job. My cabinetry had to be ordered. It was the second week in October that it was installed. Then the granite counter top was the fourth week in October. Then the cabinet tower was installed on the counter top. It did not reach the ceiling as was planned but in the end, it looks fine. They were not planning to caulk around the bottom of the cabinet where it meets the granite countertop however I insisted knowing there would be water damage if it wasn?t. Finally the project was to have been completed in November. This tub had also been nicked during the renovation. When it came to using the bath, there was a problem with the shower not being hot enough. Although the plumber came out to ?adjust? the valve, there was no improvement so I looked into it and found the faucet wasn?t even properly installed. I called back Luisa who directed me to the plumber. He called and canceled the morning of the appointment due to an emergency. I again involved Luisa and he finally came out. With the help of my friend, the plumber properly installed the faucet and the temp mix valve was adjusted so I could have a something better than a tepid shower. This week I noticed that the drywall seam tape is peeling at the interection of the ceiling and the top of the tile in the full bath (phase 1). I'll just get this addressed myself. The whole project took more time than expected (completion date planned before end of Auguts) and involved much miscommunication. It was really too bad I couldn't give Luisa and Jose better reviews. They are good people. Had things gone differently, I would have asked her to do my kitchen. Now I'll be looking for someone else.

The bathrooms turned out beautiful and we couldn't be happier with the final product. Dream Home Design is a husband and wife team (Luisa and Jesus) with two full time employees (Jomy and Jose). They have carefully vetted their contractors, all of which were true professionals. We did a major remodel of three bathrooms that spanned over a 4 month period from early May to late August. While the project wasn't without some glitches, it flowed reasonably well and turned out great. They were good to tell you when they were coming and for the most part showed up on time. If there was going to be a delay, then they would call and alert you. They did an excellent job of cleaning up each day and were careful to cover the floors to the bathrooms to avoid workmen tracking dirt through the house. Jesus and Jose would come by after each contractor and would inspect the quality of the work. Jose wouldn't leave until everything was wiped down and clean. I am not a decorator so it was extremely helpful to have Jomy and Luisa to help me pick out tile, granite, paint, fixtures and faucets. On the master bathroom, Jomy did a computer diagram using the tile I had selected so that I was able to visualize how the project would look once completed. That was extremely helpful. The only delays were with materials not arriving when promised. On the first bathroom there was a delay in getting the shower glass. Luisa quickly researched companies and worked with another company for the second two bathrooms, which was much more responsive. In the master bathroom, there was a delay in getting the cabinets. If you are doing a total remodel, I would recommend ordering the cabinets and waiting for them to arrive prior to starting the project. Luisa does an excellent job of scheduling contractors and ensuring the project is moving. Overall, the quality of the work was outstanding and each bathroom turned out beautiful They were great to work with, conscientious and true professionals. With regards to cost, I got three bids prior to starting...all from recommended sources. They were in the middle of the three bids but, offered so much in selection assistance and hand holding that I will definitely be using them for my kitchen remodel down the road. I can not say enough about the professionalism of everyone but, especially, Luisa, Jesus. Jomy and Jose.

They did a superb job. Luisa and Olivia were total professionals while at the same time providing the personal touch necessary to let me know that they understood how important this project was to me. I was always able to contact them when I needed to. Granted, this was a small and simple job, but the technician that came to measure the space was only at my house for about 15 minutes. The staff at the warehouse where I picked out my countertop was very patient. They helped me match the color scheme to a series of appropriate choices and then gave me all the time that I needed to make the selection. My wife was out-of-town when the selection was made but she was completely happy with the countertop that was chosen. The crew that installed the countertop was clearly experienced at what they were doing. They came in, checked all of the measurements and immediately got to work. The large mirror above the space had to be raised. They removed the mirror from the wall, completed the countertop installation, and reattached the mirror. They were only at the house for a short time and they did a great job all around!!!
