Van came out and gave us a very detailed estimate for our new roof. He showed us samples of all the options for shingles and gutter guards. The crew came to install our new roof 4 days later. They finished the work in just one day. They cleaned up absolutely everything and our new roof looks fantastic. One thing that totally impressed me with Consolidated Roofing is that they made an error when measuring our roof that came out in our favor - our roof should have cost over $1000 more than it did due to extra shingles needed, but Van stuck by his estimate and did not charge us a dime extra. I don't think many companies would do that! We will be using them in the future for installing new windows.

The job was delay by weather but workers were on site and began working as soon as weather had cleared and it was safe to begin. Job progressed exactly as promised. Damaged plywood was documented and replaced as necessary. Discovered that two rafters were damaged by water leakage. Damage repaired by Consolidated at minimal cost. Impact to yard and area surrounding the house was minimal. Work was secured before the crew each afternoon. Very pleased with the overall job.

It turned out well. They came out and explained everything they were going to do. They were a bit pricey, but offer good quality. I would recommend this company.

I was dreading having to redo the roof on every level. I had major problems as a result of an earlier add on, and was very worried about finding a reputable contractor. I was amazed that the experience was excellent on all levels. Consolidated responded immediately when I called them to report that my roof was seriously leaking. They came out the same day to check out the damage, and provided a complete quote by the end of the same day. Consolidated had a repair crew out to my house within a few days, making sure that the job was completed before the next rain came. A big part of the problem was the roof of a small sun porch added 4 years ago, which was quite difficult to repair, including re-caulking all the original work. Consolidated worked to find a solution that saved me over $1000. The crew arrived on time, and the area around my house was left spotless. I was completely delighted with the job and with the entire experience.

1 of 5 estimates requested. 2 never responded. All were provided with information about past & on going problem spots. CRS was the only one to propose a proactive solution. They were the most expensive, but their proposal seemed to provide the best value. The roofers came on time, were very careful of shrubbery, decks, etc & finished on time. So far, 2 months, I've found 4 nails from about 5000 sq ft of roofing. I highly recommend CRS.

The individual was more knowledgeable than any other that I talked to. He brought out many samples so that I could see them. They were all very high quality samples. He did a great job for a great price. They explained everything to me very well.

They first came to look at everything and give an estimate. They have been in this business for a long time and they seemed very knowledgeable and professional. He provided me references to call who were also very satisfied. They took only a couple of days to do the job and made sure everything was cleaned up properly. A week later when it rained, there was some leakage in the attic, so I called them and they came shortly after to fix it.

The service was professional from the estimate through the management and completion of the work. Our roof was completed in a day. We were satisfied. The final cost was slightly higher than the estimate due to plywood needing to be replaced.

Very responsive. Came to the site and furnished detailed proposal. Best of all the work was performed on timely basis and charges were in line with the proposal. The expertise in finding flaws in original construction practice of roofers was above and beyond the call of duty. Without this expertise, I don't think the problem would have been remedied.

Disclaimer: Let me just say that I know very little about roofing, so there's very little in terms of a professional opinion of how good of a job they did that I can accurately evaluate. The roof that was being replaced was just over 10 years old (with 30 year shingles), and was installed incorrectly causing it to fail prematurely, so it was important to me to interview a number of companies and try to learn about the process and listen how they were planning to complete the task. This is obviously a large investment but even if it's installed completely wrong, it may still last 10+ years (read: buyer beware on some very low cost fly-by-night roofing operations; do your homework!). Van's presentation seemed to make the most sense to me and the process was well documented with pictures and references. Other vendors seemed to want to replace sky lights and everything else, which was not necessary. I also researched with the a business rating company and also looked at the shingle vendor's preferred installer list. For this there were actually some installers were rated higher, which means some of the installations can include a higher wind rating and such (note that this is basically insurance and costs extra). But Van's price was competitive and most most importantly the pricing structure very clear; and the description of the whole operation was logical and well backed up by his reputation and documentation that he had brought. The entire process went very well, especially considering any roofing job is a big, messy project. Van's crew were extremely efficient. They arrived on time, worked hard and finished on time. They did a great job keeping the mess to a minimum and finished exactly as anticipated. I can't really add any more drama to this. It simply was done exactly as described. One very minor issue of not having properly cleaned the skylights was addressed immediately, not just in terms of getting the things cleaned, but followed up with an apology letter confirming that it had been done. So it speaks well to Van's commitment to customer service.

Let me just start by saying that, hands down, this was the best contractor experience I've ever had. Hopefully my previous statement holds a bit of weight, as I have had many, many contractor experiences personally with my properties and professionally as a real estate agent. I contacted Consolidated Roofing based on their reputation and all the glowing reports on Angie's List. My experience mirrors the wonderful reviews I read. Van Starling was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I very much appreciate the detail with which he explained their company's business approach, how their crews are set up, their accreditations, and his knowledge about my specific roofing situation. Meeting with him was informative, helpful, and a pleasure. During the installation, he explained to me roofing issues that they found and pointed out areas of interest to me. For example, I had roof rot along my old improperly installed gutters, my stove incorrectly vented into my attic, and my old chimney flashing was not properly bent into a chimney groove. Steve, the project manager for my particular job, was also very courteous, prompt, and professional. His crew was exceptional. They arrived on time, were careful of my property, and they worked from 8:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. (only breaking for a 1 hour lunch) to finish the job. My property was spotless after they left, and they even washed down my front walk areas. I cannot accolade this contractor enough. I only wish I had another roof that needed fixing so that I could hire them again!

It went very well. There was one small thing that was not done, which wasn't actually part of the roofing per se, but when I called and asked about it, they came the next day.

The project went very quickly and very smoothly. Everyone seemed to know their jobs and did them in a very smoothly choreographed process. Everyone was polite and friendly; they did a good job of cleaning up and tidying up loose ends.

I was completely satisfied with the work done, and the demeanor of the on-site crew and the supervisor, Steve. The crew was polite, efficient and respectful of my home and plantings, and other than a few small conversations was SO Quiet! They did not even play music! They removed the dumpster at night, cleaned up daily, and even caught the nails with a magnet to ensure nothing was left in the grass or flower beds. The roof looks great, and I was completely satisfied with the quality and cost of the job. Van Starling and Steve made sure I was completely informed of all that would occur, and the job went perfectly from start to finish. They would normally have washed both the roof and house/grounds to make sure that the property looked optimal, but the city of Durham drought status prohibited that. I was very impressed that they explained and apologized for skipping that step.

The estimate was provided very quickly and the work was started very soon after the "go ahead" was given. The crew did a good job, cleaned up carefully and avoided any damage to the house & plantings. Some follow-up work was required and this was done in a reasonable time. Cost was higher than initial estimate, but that was due to the extensive plywood replacement required which was not in the original estimate. The photo shows the house draped with tarps during removal of the old roof and the dumpster for the old material.

Quick response to original call. A project manager came by that day to check out the roof and measure. Salesman took the time to explain every part of what they would do, no hard sell. Ultimately we went with a 25 year shingle, and they were able to start quickly. They did planning around a storm expected the afternoon of the first day, and had everything sealed up before the rains started. The new work held up even through a very windy thunderstorm that night, and they were able to finish the next day. Work included removing existing shingles, replacing 11 pieces of plywood, adding a rain diverter over our chimney, replacing all vent boots, and reshingling. They nail by hand, prep/cover the areas of your house below where they are working with tarps, and sweep the area afterwards with magnets to make sure there are no nails. Great work, friendly people with a project manager on site, and clean and efficient. Maybe not the lowest price, but definitely the best value for your $$$.

I'm very pleased with the work done on my home. Everything was explained in detail prior to the work commencing & any problem areas were brought to my attention before repairs were made. Steve, the supervisor was here each day to oversee the work to the completion of the job. Due to my schedule Van was able to bring his crew in & complete my house in short time. They arrived when I was told they would be here and completed the work within the time frame initially given to me. The crews were friendly, courteous & very professional. I would highly recommend Consolidated Roofing Systems if you want quality work.

It went well. They were here when they said they would be. They worked well as a team. The foreman advised me of their progress whenever I went outside to see how they were doing. He pointed out any problem areas or potential problem areas and what the plan was to minimize trouble. Taking the copper out of the equation, they were more expensive than the others we nominated. However, the team that did the work has been together for about 10 years. I hope (but do not know) that the roofing team has been paid well enough to keep them together this long.

I did have some problems with them. They were not very helpful. They were actually kind of aggressively unhelpful. They installed the roof incorrectly. They did take care of it eventually though. While trying to sell the roof, their personalities were great. After that, they were just rude and argumentative. The charge seemed really fair. I got others and they were in the middle, so the price was not bad.

The last company that did my roof did a poor job and there were numerous leaks. Consolidated was able to find the problem, fix the boards and do a great job on the new roof. I have a beautifully landscaped rose garden and they were very careful not to damage it when they did the work.

The response time was excellent. The representative called us back the same day we contacted them, and scheduled a meeting for the next day. The sales presentation didn't feel at all like a sales pitch; there was no pressure. Their product and their company sold itself. The crew arrived within the week and all employees were very respectful, courteous, and professional. Our yard and bushes remained clean and we have found zero nails or debris outside. There was some debris inside our back porch from the flat roof replacement but we expected that and it could not be helped. The total cost was expensive, yes, but we now have a 30-year roof and that works out to be just $0.87 per day over a 30 year period of time. Not bad when we know we and our belongings can stay dry and safe! Plus, we didn't have the headache of doing the work ourselves!

I gave Consolidated the go-ahead on a Thursday or Friday and they were working on Monday. They did an excellent job. Made sure I knew what was going on as the extent of the damage to the rear flat roof became apparent. They worked two long hard days to finish the job before July 4th holiday. They were friendly and provided a good clean-up afterwards. Job was very expensive, but Consolidated did good work for a fair price. The roof was in bad shape.

Van responded promptly to my request for an estimate and was able to schedule the work within a few days. The crew showed up as scheduled and completed the entire job in one day, and cleaned up well.

Van visited our home within a few days of our phone call, and the work was scheduled for the next week. The job went well, and the roof looks great. The team arrived on time, and they finished the work quickly in one day, even though it was a windy day. They cleaned up the area really well. The only negative "marks" they left after the work was completed were a few trampled hastas. I felt good about the company's stability. They've been in business for over 30 years. I know they'll be able to honor the 10-year warranty on their work, if needed.
