Went well, no issues. Great quality work, looks great. My husband went on the roof to check it, we didn't just take their word for it. It was done properly. Company was easy to deal with. Payment was online, very easy.

The crew removed the old roof/shingles,replaced some rotted wood, put new roof on with ridge vent in one day, awesome!! The turbines could not be reused so they bought new ones and added them at no charge. It was refreshing to use a company and have no issues. The crew cleaned up the job site and were very professional. We will definitely use them again.

They were fantastic in terms of how quick they responded. They had no problem going right on the roof or going into my attic. The price was very good and they were very responsive and professional. They got the job done in one day. The cleanup was perfect and they left no mess. They were very flexible with scheduling and came right when I needed them.

PRovider completed the project in one day. I left for work at 6:30 and I came back home to a new roof. I've waited 1 year before giving my review. There have been no issues whatsoever with the roof. When I bought this house in 2012 the old roof had an attic fan and a roof vent. This is a no no. The only reason for adding an attic fan is if the roof vent was not installed correctly. Consolidated got rid of the attic fan and has provided me with a proper roof venting system. I've been in the attic on a hot day and it's not much hotter in the attic than outdoors. This means the venting system is working properly. I'd give CRS an A but there was some misunderstanding at the beginning of the contract on my part. I believe CRS was vague or unclear or I just misunderstood but a bit more clarity up front would have made the difference. All in all I am quite pleased with CRS's work. I have not had to call them (thank God) to come patch something up so I cannot speak to their customer service but if you want a quote they will come out promptly and go over options with you. Their price is not cheap, it's on the high end but they do high quality work.

I got quotes from Baker Roofing, Chief Roofing and Consolidated (aka CBS). They were all in the same general ballpark, but CBS was more willing to work with us when the final insurance quote came back to avoid coming out of pocket more than necessary. But, we experienced no "cut corner" that were apparent with the slightly reduced price. Job took 2.5 days, they predicted 3. We have a transitional house with lots of different roof lines, slopes, etc...not a standard A frame roof. Second choice was Baker because they hand nailed like CBS (as opposed to gun nailed). But, Baker was so big that I felt more comfortable with a smaller company that focused on residential roofing. David Raymer explained everything about the roof, and answered all of my questions, including why CBS was the same/different than the other companies I was considering. There was no pressure to upgrade things, but he did offer them and explain the pros and cons of anything I asked about. We ended up choosing to have a couple of the upgrades/extras, but never felt pressured to choose them. One of those was replacing old skylights, and there was no mess whatsoever with that, even though David warned me that there could be some while they were putting the new ones in. No torn up landscaping or anything. David convinced me that he was honest and that he'd be on the ball if there were any issues. There were no issues, but he was great to work with. His crew was polite and efficient and no trouble at all. There was some debris left over when they were done, mostly nails and staples from the old roof. They came back to pick them up with magnets. We have small kids, so I'd ask them to make sure they magnet the yard real well before they leave the job site on the last day. Only 1 little flower pot was broken, so no problems there, and David even took $20 off to pay for that. Would use them again, but hopefully not for a roof any time soon...

From the beginning, CBS was professional and punctual. We got about 6 bids from roofing companies, ranging from $4500 to around $8000 so CBS' quote seemed to be on the mark for what was offered (and I didn't feel the sleazy used car salesman "price reveal" at the end of the conversation like other companies). David was on-time for our estimate appointment and spent close to an hour walking around the house to take measurements for a quote. He gave me a detailed diagram (done on the computer) of our roof and a detailed estimate. As far as the work, the workers cleaned up after themselves, were quiet and respectful and finished the job in 2.5 days. David responded to all of my questions and concerns promptly. Only issue we had was the materials were dropped off by the distributor (not CBS) and they didn't properly cover them up. I told David and he was unhappy with the company; the next morning they had returned to shrink wrap everything. He clearly was on top of not only his workers but the suppliers of the materials. I would definitely work with CBS again and recommend them to others looking for roofing work.

I almost went with them but the other roofing company that I used gave me a ton of reference and houses to go drive by because we were changing the tile of the house and that's what more what I want and hey spend probably more time on the selling process to get me comfortable. With them the guy that came out just gave me exactly what I asked for. I spoke to them about three or four time and they came to my house twice. I would invite him over for a cocktail party that's how much I like the guy. He's really professional, really good and on time. He said I'd have the quote like within two days and I have it within a day. I didn't have negative experience dealing with them.

The CBS crew arrived on time on Wednesday and went right to work and completed the job on Thursday. The workers were pleasant. David Rayner, the owner, showed up on both days and was available by phone when needed. Two inadvertent errors occurred which David had them corrected before completing the job..
Description of Work: CBS roofing replaced the roof and mansard shingles along with all the other requirements to replace flashing, vent boots, shingles on the rakes and new chimney flashing. Some plywood boards had to be replaced that were soft or delaminated. CBS also replaced wood trim between the garage and wood siding.

Excellent! David is very responsive and easy to reach. He quickly responds to called and especially email and comes out very quickly to provide estimates. He is professional and very friendly. We have used them once before also for a roof leak and they were just excellent. His foreman is also very nice. They have always arrived on time. Their work is excellent and we have had no problems with any job they have done for us. They also usually offer a 1 year workmanship warranty on completed repairs. I highly recommend CBS.

Consolidated Building Systems went very well. I can jump in there and put in a review. They were great. They were here in January of 2012. We had our entire roof done. They were very prompt and they did a really good job with everything. It was over $5,000 I can't remember the exact amount. It was a decent, it was a whole roofing job. They were super nice, the foreman came by multiple times during the install. He was very on top of things. They were courteous and very on time, punctual. Overall it was just an excellent experience. They did a great job. If anybody in this area is looking for someone to go ahead and do any sort of roofing and gutter work, this is an excellent place to start.

Very, very smoothly. Job was done on time and in an excellent manner.
Description of Work: Complete roofing tearoff and replacement. We have quite a large home with significant roofing. The crews were courteous and very conscientious about cleaning up. They repaired portions of the roof which had become damaged and suggested things to remediate the problems in the future. David, the owner, was very helpful and very patient with all the questions we had. We felt that the workers were every bit as helpful and respectful as he was. I would highly suggest that if you are considering a new roof on your home that you obtain a quote from these very conscientious people. We were not looking for the cheapest firm in Raleigh, we wanted someone who we felt was honest and would do what was necessary. CBS Roofing was reasonable in cost and we feel they did an excellent job. I highly recommend them.

We selected Consolidated Roofing Systems after receiving quotes from 8 vendors off of Angie's List. CRS was extremely professional, prompt and thorough. Van took the time to walk us through the roofing process and made us feel comfortable that they go above and beyond the average company in certifying their roofers. CRS has a foreman on-site during the entire process to provide oversight and answer questions. They took pictures throughout the process and also documented where any repairs were made. After the job was complete, they provided us with a CD of images that will be a great resource for a home inspector and for potential home buyers when we put our house on the market. They were not the cheapest bid we received, but we selected them because of their process and expertise and are very pleased with the results.

Consolidated Building Systems (CBS) arrived exactly as scheduled, inspected the evidence of the leak and as a result replaced the flashing at the chimney and re-sealed it to ensure no further leaks. We have had some rain since the work was finished, and I see no evidence of any leak. I would definitely recommend CBS for roof repair and would use them again.

They came when I wasn't at home. It was a roof package to check any problems on the roof and to reseal the vents. I was having some issues and I wanted to discuss it with them. When I walked around the house I noticed that on part of the house it wasn't even addressed. The shingles were still broken that was done by a tree branch. I contacted them back and they did return to repair the shingles. I did have some leaking in my attic. They did fix the problem some what but now its been a year and I have the issues again. So I have contacted someone else to address the problem.

We got a call in the middle of the week from one other company and the thrid company just didn't bother calling us back. I was home every day while the new roof was going on. My roof, which had been installed by another company, began to leak a few days prior to me calling CBS. I tried to fix the leak but failed, so I called CBS at 5 pm and David, the owner, answered the phone. He said he would be at my house at 8 am the next morning and he arrived exactly at 8 am. He told me on the call they have a flat fee to fix the roof of $135 plus the cost of any shingles or wood if it is needed. He and his worker identified the leak as soon as they got on the roof. I was at the vet with my dog and he texted me photos of the problem. He had to buy some shingles and he fixed it. The repair matches my roof perfectly and the leak is fixed. I paid $135 plus $50 for some shingles. He is very friendly and honest. When I need to replace my roof, I will hire him and not even entertain an estimate from anyone else.

I contacted David by email, and he was very prompt in replying (within an hour). We scheduled the appointment for early Friday morning, 12/30. He indicated work would begin between 8 and 9am. He was onsite personally at 8:23 am (having been by the previous afternoon to drop off supplies for the crew). The job was complete by 10am. The crew was efficient and careful, and did not create any damage/debris for me to be concerned with. The job looks to be complete (we have not had rain yet to determine the leakworthiness of the repair).

I was hoping for American craftsmanship when I came to Angie's List, performed by people that I can communicate with to ask a question, and I expect a qualified, licensed professional supervising (someone that has actually worked in their trade. David seemed to rely on his foreman for advice on the roofing details. He did not seem to know the trade very well. He is very professional in his presentation and seems like a nice guy to have over for a bar-b-que but not to trust to replace or install your roof. A roof is a huge expense and not something you want to have a company guessing about how to do the job. What has happened to American craftsmanship? I didn't find it in this company and have decided to try to find a Roofing Owner that supervises their skilled employees and take pride in every piece of the job.
Description of Work: I had a terrible experience with my house being rebuilt after a fire. Eckhardt Constructions Services rebuilt my home but used Mexican day laborers and did not stay to supervise. The roof was one of many items that they installed grossly improper. So I called this company after reading all the reviews here on Angie's List. David Raymer the owner, promptly responded to my phone message and came by the same day to scope out the work. He climbed on the roof and said he saw nails installed with a nail gun (which is not recommended for any roof) that were popping up and taking the shingles with them. There was ridgeline shingles installed which is not needed for a Foam Insulated roof (tight system) and perhaps the bottom shingles needed to be replaced and the fascia board for the gutters was installed improperly lifting the bottom row of shingles. He gave me a bid of 1800.00. The next day he showed up outside my house in his truck and I had to leave for an appointment so I went out to talk to him. He had the call on speaker phone so I could hear his worker whom he was instructing to come to my house to do the do. With my bad experience I asked if he was using all Mexican laborers and if they were legal and certified. He said, "Yeah, who doesn't? They have visas. (Did he mean green cards? Visas are for students and travelers). But don't worry I will be here the whole time to supervise." So I left for my appointment and turned around 3 blocks away because I forgot something. David Raymer and his truck were gone. I thought maybe he went to get a cup of coffee. I returned home 2 hours later and saw 2 laborers crawling on my roof, ripping out fascia aluminum wrapping and tapping in nail pops. I was confused. I asked where David was. The lead laborer could hardly understand me but the gist was David had left and wasn't returning. I called David and asked where he was and reminded him that he promised he would supervise the work and that I was disappointed he left. He admitted he had promised to be here so he'd do the job pro-bono. No, I don't want free work I just want my roof fixed by craftsmen so I can relax. Ok, he said, he'd come by the following morning and look at the work. Ten minutes later the laborers took off saying they would be back Monday to finish the nail pops. Saturday came and went and I didn't hear from David. I set my alarm early for Monday and planned on being here to ask questions and watch the job being completed. At 1PM no workers and no phone call. I called David and asked when they would be here. He said that they were done with the job and he didn't think I wanted to work with him anymore since I was disappointed that he was not here. What??? I insisted that the work was not completed and that I had questions. He came by an hour later with "his foreman", another day laborer (I have nothing against any race or creed) who crawled on the roof and asked David to spot the pops for him. There must have been 20 more of them. I told David that there was no one there on Friday to help them spot the nails. After just being told that someone needed to spot the pops from the ground he tells me, oh, they can see them up there. Which is it? As the laborer tapped and lifted shingles the circumstances of my roof became dire, needing a full replacement and gutters removed and re-wrapped and perhaps some carpentry plus the entire roof. I asked David for a bid and again he says he can't believe I would still want to use him. I was so confused and felt like I was being taken for a long winding drive. He sent me his bid which was 12K, 5K more than the first time I saw him and asked what it would cost to redo the entire roof.

Thank you for your comments. I also felt that we (CBS) didn't live up to the customer's expectations or our own expectations for this specific repair job so we completed the repairs for free before the customer even wrote a report on Angie's List. With that being said I am sorry that we disappointed a customer and we thank you again for your response.
