Cary Plumbing had to come twice to do two different things. Both men did a good job, came on time, and completed the work in a timely and professional way.
Description of Work: we had a flood due to a bad drain for the washing machine. Cary Plumbing had to replace the faucets to the machine, then put a whole new drain under the house. It was done very professionally, and we will use them again.

Called and set up an appointment to have someone come out and give me an estimate on replacing the old crappy PBC pipes that were installed in my home in 1986. Mike came out on (I think) a Tuesday evening, looked around, asked some questions, answered some of my questions, and gave me an estimate of $4200 for the full job, including repairing the drywall afterwards. This estimate was almost exactly halfway between the other two estimates, one of which didn't include drywall repair, so we agreed on the price and scheduled the work for Thursday a week later. Thursday morning, Mike (a different Mike than the first Mike) and his 2-man crew showed up right on time at 8AM. We reconfirmed the work that needed to be done, and they started setting up dropcloths and got to work, while I worked from home upstairs. About 11AM, Mike #2 told me that another of his plumbers had become available, and was coming out to help. The entire plumbing job was completed by 2:45 that afternoon, and I was amazed to find that the only "damage" done were two holes in the dining room cieling (a 1'x2' rectangle and another 1'x1' square). Mike #2 explained that he would contact the drywall repairman, who was currently working on another job, and that he would come early the next week. The think I was most happy about was that the drywall repairs were contracted to the plumbers, so he didn't get paid until the work was completed, and the plumbers didn't get paid until the drywall was completed. This took a great load off my mind that I would not be eternally pursuing drywall people. Mike called on Monday and said the drywall guy would be there in the morning to fix the holes. The next morning, right on time at 8AM, Mike (yes, the drywall guy was also named Mike) knocked on the door. He got right to work, while I again went upstairs to work from home. Just before 10AM I got up to go downstairs to ask for privacy for a conference call, and he was coming up the stairs to say the work was completed! The drywall texture was an exact match with the existing popcorn cieling. The color was a bit off, which was irrelevant since the cieling is being painted next month. Mike managed to work around the clutter in the dining room without disturbing it. The only work that remained undone was reattaching the dining room chandelier, which had to wait for the drywall to set. Mike said that they would reattach it later that day when Mike #2 came to settle the bill. About 1:45, Mike #2 came by, reattached the dining room light, and we settled up. The entire process was remarkably painless, and reasonably priced. I would wholeheartedly recommend their work to anyone who won't be confused by working with a bunch of people who all have the same name.

They are working on a project that I started in August. It is still too soon to tell how they are overall because I am still closing out the project; I have the final inspection on Friday. Their price was definitely the best. I would definitely use them again in the future.

They were on-time, came when I called about the leak in my attic to cut off the water going to the hot water for me that morning before the service call that afternoon. The only thing I would have changed was the company asking me prior to bringing the tank water heater if I wanted to consider the tankless as the warranty was so much better and would have been worth the extra money to get it out of my attic. I didn't realize the price had come down so much on the tankless. Other than that I have no complaints

Hot water quit and we called Cary Plumbing. Even though it was the afternoon when I called, they said they would send someone within 2 hours. Within half an hour, their guy came and checked the water heater and determined it needed to be replaced. They laid out options, prices, and expected life of units. We chose to go with a Rinnai tankless water heater. They provided the unit and installed it (all- day effort by 2 guys), did the electrical, plumbing and abandoned gas connection in attic. Subsequently, their electrician come to hardwire the unit into our electrical and then Town of Cary followed up with inspection of abandoned system, new wiring and plumbing. The Town inspector said the work exceeded the town's standards and they were well acquainted with the work that Cary Plumbing does. We have used Cary Plumbing in the past to install a water heater, and 3 low-flow toilets, all with good results. They are really quick to respond and have made a few return trips at no charge if we had questions.
Description of Work: Cary Plumbing provided and installed a tankless water heater. They removed an existing indoor attic unit, capped off gas connection, plumbed and did electricity to new water heater.

Cary Plumbing came out to look at the system and were unfortunately not equipped to deal with the custom system we have set up. While they were not able to provide the work or supplies themselves, they went above and beyond to locate a contractor known personally to the technician who visited us. That contractor has proven to be a real find. We were sorry not to work with Cary Plumbing, but we would hire them again without hesitation for any further work. We did not expect them to find us someone better suited to the job, but that's just what they did. The technician said "If I can't do this job, I'll find you someone who can do it right."
Description of Work: We called Cary Plumbing to come out to evaluate our water system. We have two separate water heaters servicing different systems: one heater heats our domestic water, and another heater heats water for our hydronic floor heater system. Both heaters are well outside of their warranties, and have begun acting erratically so we wanted to evaluate the options for replacing them.

The repair was fine and the repairman (Tim) was very nice. The cost seemed excessive. $50 in parts that cost no more than $10, and labor $129 for less than an hours worth of work.

I called yesterday morning to have a technician inspect my hot water heater due to no hot water. I was able to have an appointment for the same day, actually they were there in about 3 hours. The technician informed me that I would need a new water heater and that someone would bring it out to him while he took out the current tank. The job was done in about 2-3 hours. The techinicain was very courtious. The only problem was that he lock the front door and my sitter could not get in.

They came out, called on the way to verify time, checked out whole house and cleared an area of concern. timely, professional, and cost effective. I also had them replace the main water supply from the meter to the house a year or so before. They gave me a great price did the job exactly as they said and they can boar under a driveway or side walk which is a huge plus. I would recommend these guys to every body. SJM

Partway into a DIY toilet repair job I realized it was out of my comfort zone. I had a hospital guest arriving that afternoon who would need the toilet. Cary Plumbing sent Tim out who not only met my deadline but performed in a thoroughly professional manner and cleaned up all of the messes, mine and his. Kudos to a great small company!
Description of Work: I had tried to tighten the bolts that held a toilet to its base, and broke one of these off. I tried to fix it myself, but it looked too bad for my skills. Tim, the plumber sent by Cary Plumbing, cleaned up the old gloop, replaced both bolts, resettled the toilet onto them and fastened it down. He then replaced all of the 25 year-old innards.

Plumber called and was on time. He installed customer supplied faucet but said he did not like that kind of faucet. Customer had garbage disposal on hand and plumber said one purchased was overkill in price (Insinkerator 1/3 HP) and he had one for ~$100 (Insinkerator 1/2 HP). Customer trusted plumber and went with his recommendation. We paid $20 less for the one on hand! We assume the garbage disposal was the problem and not the switch; we'll never know because the plumber took the old disposal. Price score was based on replacing garbage disposal with more expensive plumber supplied unit. Overall it was a negative experience and my husband and I generally allow a lot of slack.
Description of Work: Plumber installed kitchen faucet that we supplied and a garbage disposal that he supplied. After replacing the garbage disposal the plumber told us the switch was bad and we need to replace the switch.

Quick and easy, did just what I needed, and did it at a reasonable price. I called the company Monday morning and asked if they could come Tuesday morning. An appointment was made for 7:30 Tuesday. Plumber arrived 20 minutes early (he called first) and was done in half an hour. He explained what had caused the pipe to break and how I could prevent a reoccurrence. (I had left the hose connected over the cold winter, which allowed water to remain in the line, freeze, and crack the pipe.) He also gave me some free advice and an estimate for another job I'm considering in the future. Plumber was prompt, courteous, and professional. I wlll definitely use Cary Plumbing again.

This was our second bad experience with Cary Plumbing! We only called them again, after getting crazy-rip-off pricing from Roto-Rooter of Raleigh. The last time they came out, they charged a full, two-hours labor for being on site for 1 hour and 10 minutes. That was to fix leaking pipe on a Water Heater that they had installed the year before! So, this time: After having Roto-Rooter from Raleigh come out and tell us it's going to cost $700 (just labor), to install a new tap in the water line for our New Refrigerator, and install two new toilets that we had already purchased... we sent them packing and called Cary Plumbing to do the water line tap and a quick repair (20 minutes on one of the toilets my Father-in-Law installed in 45 minutes. The Cary Plumbing dispatcher had quoted my Wife $97 hour labor. They arrived at about 4:15, finished at 5:35. The lead plumber had a Hispanic helper with him, which we found out after the fact, brought the labor rate up to $129 per hour! And the lead plumber spent half the time chatting it up. The final bill for a 20 -25 minute toilet repair and the water line tap...$311 - IT TAKES ME 2-1/2 DAYS TO EARN $311...Seriously folks! Is there a Plumbing Company in the area that does NOT Rip People Off? Oh yea, that price included about $50 in parts, one of which was a Spud Gasket for which they charged us $10, and I just found the same Gasket at Lowes for $1.95! BTW: I just joined Angie's List, and I'm really confused to find Companies such as Cary Plumbing and Roto-Rooter of Raleigh listed here with "A" Ratings!New

Overall, the work finally got done, but I shouldn't have had to call them back out two additional times to fix what they didn't get right the first time they were out. Had my son not learned of our leaking problem the second time, countless gallons of water would have been leaked into the crawl space and this could have gone on for weeks or months before someone discovered the problem.
Description of Work: We had a leaking pvc pipe under the crawl space which had gone unnoticed until a pest inspector discovered it during his inspection. Called Cary Plumbing and they got a guy out reasonably quickly and supposedly fixed the problem. A week or so later, my son learned that the same pipe location was still leaking, so they had to be called out again to fix the same problem. When this plumber was out the first time, I also had him replace the stopper inside the back of the toilet because it had a slow leak. He did that, but I had to call him back out days later to fix that too because the toilet was dripping water onto the floor. I guess these guys could be competent plumbers if they simply thoroughly checked their work before they left the customer's home (and did things right the first time so there is no need to come back out).

I called Cary Plumbing on Friday, July 22. Rich came by on Tuesday, 7/26, to give me an estimate. He explained that it would be $23, but would be credited against the job if I chose them. After determining what I needed done, he gave me the option to have them do a complete turnkey solution (install company supplied toilets, cleanup and removal) or I could supply my own toilets. He gave me direction on what to buy. I appreciated the option to save over $500. I purchased the toilets and Rich installed them, including cleanup and removal, on Thursday. He was on time, trustworthy and professional. Cary Plumbing will be my first for all future jobs.
Description of Work: The toilets in my home were not flushing efficiently. I decided to replace the toilets in 4 bathrooms.

Today we had a plumbing issue. The shower in the lowest level in our house backed up with sewage while someone was about to take a shower, which is not only gross, but unsafe. We called Cary Plumbing because they were rated highly on here, and now we know why! They gave us a two hour window and though the plumber was about 20 minutes late, he called to let us know. When he showed up the first thing he checked was if the problem was in our system or in the town's water system. Lo and behold, it was the towns problem! The plumber not only did not charge us for coming out and checking it, but he also called the town for us! We will definitely be calling them in the future.

The search and diagnosis seemed to be thorough. In order to fully diagnose the problem, there will have to be excavations into the walls. The service man thinks that it may be a dead animal rather than a valve problem and sewer gas. The reason we may not use this company again is that apparently there is a service charge for service calls out of Wake County . The plumber did not charge me the service charge, but said in the future I would have to pay an extra $89. I think it's important to write about the service charge somewhere on the site. Perhaps it is written, and I just missed it.
Description of Work: The service man searched the entire house, attic, roof, and crawl space to find a bathroom vent and make repairs if needed for persistent odor.

When I called Cary Plumbing, the dispatcher requested a two hour window to come and fix the main valve. I thought that two hours were too much to replace a main valve. I did ask how much they charge per hour, and the dispatcher said $89. Okay, one hour of labor and a valve, it shouldn't be too much. After the work was completed in less than 1/2 hour, I was given a bill of $248 which included a suggested Pressure regulator for $93, valve for $16, 6" pipe and two rings for $6 and something else I couldn't read for $4. And a one hour labor of $119. What? I thought it was only $89, oh no, the crew were two men (normally a helper) and that is the charge for both. Okay, I felt that was over priced since the hourly charge was quoted as $89 and parts were marked up pretty good in addition to dime and nickel and markup of each part they used. Just be careful when you call them. Have the parts ready and ask exactly how much the charge per hour (whoever come)
Description of Work: It started by a drip from the shower head once a minute. I thought of fixing it myself, but when I tried to shut the main valve off, I couldn't. so I had to call the plumber. Please read the report below

I've used Cary Plumbing in the past for plumbing issues, including replacing an electric hot water heater. This business has always been professional and responsive. From the people who take the service calls to the plumbers that come out to do the work, everyone I've encountered with Cary Plumbing has been great. For this particular call, I had a garbage disposal that was broken which I wanted to remove rather than replace, and also a few minor leaks in pipes located in the basement. The plumber who came out has been here before, and he was excellent, as had been my previous experience.

I was very pleased with the work. I believe that it was Donnie who did the job, but I am not 100% sure. He did everything possible to check for alternate methods of repair before cutting the ceiling. Once he finally had to make a cut, he worked quickly and took care to not make more of a mess than necessary with the drywall removal. I would use Cary Plumbing again and I would recommend them also. I felt that the pricing was extremely competitive for the amount of time spent. He also broke out the pricing between parts and labor which I appreciated!

I had previously called the company indicating that I wanted my 13-year old hot water heater replaced because it was starting to leak at the base. The plumbers (2) showed up on time with the replacement heater, sized up the situations, and headed for a nearby Home Depot to get some fittings. They returned in about half an hour, and had the job finished in an hour and a half. As a bonus they fixed at no charge a leak in the hot water line to a work sink that was next to the hot water heater. The lead plumber also was willing to look at a poorIy functioning toilet and told me how I could fix it myself for $5, which I subsequently did. The men from Cary Plumbing were on schedule, completed the work for a previously agreed upon price, and were both professional and helpful. I will use them again next time I have a plumbing issue.
