We have gotten a couple of quotes and we didn't take the lowest quote, and we didn't take the highest quote and we decided to go with Cary Plumbing. They did a good job. They cleaned up their mess, which is not always the case with construction people. They did it in the least inconvenient way for us. They did a good job.

I'm very happy with the work Cary Plumbing did. They did just what they said they would, and their drywall contractor, Mike Dixon, did a great job repairing the walls and ceiling, so you can't tell there were ever holes. We now have lots of clean, hot water and we no longer worry about polybutylene pipes. Kudos to Cary Plumbing.

The job started on time and the repipe was completed in two days. The two days included removing the gas hot water heater from the attic and installing a tankless water heater in the crawl space as well as installing the new PEX piping and new water valves throughout the house. Part of the job required some access to the piping through the living room ceiling. To accomplish that, holes were cut in the ceiling and when the job was done a plaster contractor as part of the job came over and closed up all the openings and then matched the paint color and painted. The plaster and painting work is perfect. There is absolutely no evidence of any plastering or painting. This project worked out perfectly. Everyone was on time. The job was worked each day until completion. Everyone was competent and very courteous. Throughout the job all carpets were covered and all walls were covered with hanging plastic when needed. When the job was done, the carpets were also vacuumed and the floors were mopped. This project went so smoothly that I wish would have had done it years ago. Now, we have a safe piping system, a great water heater and we even made some new friends. Our sincere thanks goes to Cary Plumbing for their professionalism! And, also very very important... we were referred to a new restaurant that makes the best Italian meatball sandwiches my wife and I have ever had! Thanks to all the crew members on this job! It was the greatest!

I bought this house in April. Quickly found out (the hard way, with backup in basement bath) that there was a sewer blockage issue. Called on insurance provided by house seller. Their referred plumber came out and said he had fixed the problem. A few days later we found out that he had not. Called them again, they came out again, and said that they had finally fixed it, again. A few days later, again, we found out the hard way that they had not. This plumber (very reputable and recommended by many on Angie's list) did not have a clue about what the problem was; they were speculating on all sorts of exotic causes. A friend recommended that we forget about trying to use the insurance and call Cary Plumbing. They were sure that they knew what the problem was, but it was difficult to confirm that because the sewer line was 50 years old and not very accommodating to the TV cameras that plumbers use for this diagnostic work. (The first plumber had an inferior system that indicated that the problem was fixed. He was wrong.) Cary's plumber was a godsend. He was absolutely determined that this problem was not going to defeat him, and he worked tirelessly to find the problem and to fix it. The first thing he had to do was to find the "cleanout" so that he could get his TV camera beyond some twists and turns that the first plumber could not navigate. (The cleanout was buried about 4 feet below the surface of the yard, so it was a huge problem to find.) Cary Plumbing made an extraordinary effort to get this done, to give me a temporary solution so that the house was habitable. Cary worked with determination and with an understanding that until the temporary fix was in place, I was essentially in the position of having spent a lot of money to purchase a house that was not habitable. They took a personal interest in getting that temporary fix in place and to get me back to peace of mind. Turns out that the connection to the City's sewer line had broken, and roots had grown into the sewer line. Cary Plumbing helped me work through the process to get the City to admit that they problem was theirs and to fix it, at their expense. (Finding the cleanouts and providing the temporary fix was at my expense.) Basically, without their sense of commitment to fix my plumbing problem, I was stuck with a useless house. The other plumbers had no clue, and certainly no determination to fix my problem. Cary Plumbing's service was invaluable. Their fee was totally reasonable. I was so satisfied that I hired them to do 3 other pieces of unrelated work that I needed to do on this old house. A different employee did each of the jobs, so it is almost like I have met a large portion of the employees at Cary. All of them have been professional, competent, friendly, and totally the kind of people whom one likes to have perform work on one's house. One even suggested an alternative way of doing a job that saved me a couple thousand dollars. I am thrilled to have found Cary Plumbing. I will call them again if I ever need plumbing work.
Description of Work: Cleared roots from sewer, added cleanouts, fixed tankless hot water heater, added presser controller to old system, helped get city to take responsibility to fix broken connection to city system (guided me through process and met city's requirements), added water line for outside use.

When the two plumbers arrived, we asked them to include the toilets and they said that was fine. The main plumber worked downstairs and his helper worked upstairs. Everything seemed to be going along just fine until they turned the water back on after completing their work. The upstairs plumber went into the main bathroom for a minute and then left to the master bathroom for about 10 minutes. When he came back to the main bathroom he saw that the toilet tank was overflowing on to the bathroom floor and out to the hallway carpet. So much water had leaked out that it was coming out of the light fixtures in the garage. The main plumber went outside near his truck and called his office. After about 10-15 minutes he came back into the garage and started poking holes in the ceiling to drain the water. A lot of water came out of the ceiling onto the floor and out to the driveway. The supervisor showed up after a while. He said the problem had been caused because the float in the tank became stuck when the water was turned back on. This caused water to keep flowing into the tank. He said that it is very common for floats to get stuck due to the silt that comes in through the lines when water is turned back on after being shut off outside at the street connection. He said the water leaked out through the hole in the tank lever. He further explained the water leaked out through the tank lever hole because the tank overflow pipe was slightly higher than the tank lever and that is not according to plumbing code. He pointed to the overflow pipe as the cause for why water was coming out the tank lever instead of going into the overflow pipe back into the toilet bowl. I asked why the plumber had to shut the water off outside the house instead of just shutting off the main valve inside the house. The plumber then said he noticed a rag on the floor in the closet near the main valve and assumed the valve was leaking; so he replaced it. We asked why he did that without asking us about it and he didn?t answer. We were very concerned he did this without discussing it with us and getting our approval beforehand. The supervisor jumped in and said that irregardless, the water overflowed because the pipe in the tank was not installed correctly. Since they didn?t install the tank, they said this was not their fault. We told him we never had a problem with that toilet tank before (and never had problem since either!). We said that so much water spilled onto the floor and down into the garage in that ten minutes that there was no way it only came through the lever. It had to overflow the tank! We asked them if they know all about the silt in the lines and the potential for this type of problem, then why did the plumber leave after turning the water back on? Why didn?t he stay and watch the situation to insure there were no problems? The supervisor said that the plumber?s responsibility is only to check their work. Since they did not install anything inside the tank, they assume the tank will work according to code. He said it is not their practice to stay in the bathroom and wait for the water to fill up in the tank. He then told us they were not responsible for the damages and that they would not pay for any restoration costs. We were totally shocked! The supervisor said he would discuss it with the owner and see what they could do. He called back later to say they would not pay for any damages. We spoke with the owner who repeated everything the supervisor told said and was very agitated with us about being responsible for the restoration. He would recommend a restoration company who they have worked with in the past and felt confident they would give us a break on the restoration costs. We were very upset and felt we were being taken advantage of. After calming down, we contacted a few restoration companies and selected one to repair the damages. When we received the bill from Cary Plumbing, we sent them a letter asking for the payment for the restoration services. We offered an option of paying their bill after receiving payment for the restoration or they could deduct their bill from the restoration services and send us the difference. They sent a letter back stating they would not pay for any damages and asked us to pay the money we owe them. They further said that if we didn?t feel it was fair to pay them for the work, we did not have to and they would not pursue legal action. After all of this we decided to take them to small claims court. The supervisor and owner showed up without the plumber. I?m not sure if we can post what transpired, but we are very grateful that the judge ruled in our favor and ordered them to pay for the difference between the restoration costs and their bill. We did receive the check after about 10 days. This was such a horrible ordeal for us. We held back on sharing our story until now because we did not want to jeopardize our chances for recovering the money for the damages. We were treated so horribly by Cary Plumbing that want to share our story so others are aware of what they are like when accidents/mistakes happen. Although we were not happy that an accident happened, you can imagine the feeling we had in the pit of our stomach after they left us with a damaged home. No respectable company would ever leave a customer like that! We felt so bad about our decision to hire Cary Plumbing. We blamed ourselves for not doing more to find a better company. In the end, we feel we did the best we could by researching with friends and Angie?s List to find a reputable company. We all rely on information to support our decisions and we will continue to use Angie?s list. Not just for the A+ ratings, but MOST IMPORTANTLY for the negative reviews people like us provide. We hope others will learn from our ordeal and take a few extra steps before they make their decision to hire someone.

What I really liked about Cary Plumbing was right from the start when I realized I needed a professional plumber. I was in the process of a DIY of my 4 bathrooms which started with the wish of getting rid of wallpaper and just painting. Getting the wallpaper of required taking off toilet tanks to have access to the wall, no problem but that led me to replace fixtures which led to replacing the 1993 dated marble poured countertops for granite ones, which led to tearing out the entire dated tile work, walls and floors. I had no problems until I got to the Roman Tub fixtures and shower fixtures which could not be replace without a special crimping tool. This is where the need for a professional comes in. I called Schwartz Plumbing which I have been getting advertisements in the mail and a few other plumbers locally for estimates. The reason I ended with Cary Plumbing was the way they treat the assignment, the other plumbers quoted over $1,000 based on a fixed rate per job for the Tub fixtures and the two showers. Cary Plumbing pointed out they do not quote a fixed rate by work type like other plumbing companies but charge an hourly rate and based on what I described to them they told me approximately the cost. It is important to note I had prepared the work sites, access to piping by removing tile and walls where needed for access, each plumber was informed the same. After I decided on Cary Plumbing I added the Whole house shutoff and the outside faucet replacement. Another note when Cary Plumbing came for the first trip I only told him to do the tub and the shower in the master bathroom forgetting the shower fixtures in the guest bathroom. After I realized my mistake he was long gone. When I called for a return trip for the second shower I added items to my wish list. After the two visits the total cost for all the work done was substantially cheaper than I was quoted by the other plumbers which did not include the added work done by Cary Plumbing. In short, was I pleased with the service I got from Cary Plumbing??? .... you betcha. I would positively recommend Cary Plumbing and it is not based on one professional impressing me. It was two different plumbers that showed up on each of the two visits and each represented their company very well. Please let Cary Plumbing know of my comments. Richard Altans I will try to add three pictures - 1 Master bath shower before plumber arrived. 2 - Tub fixture removed no inside picture where the work was required. 3 - Guest bathroom shower fixture after replacement, waiting for my DIY completion.
Description of Work: trip 1 - 7/15/2014 - Replace Delta fixtures with Phister - Install new roman tub fixtures and shower fixtures in Master bathroom Trip 2 - 7/23/2014 - Replace Delta fixtures with Phister - Install shower fixtures in guest bathroom, new whole house water shut off located in downstairs closet, replace outside water valve (for outside watering use).

An hour later, the kitchen faucet starts leaking more. Worse than before. It became a steady stream of water. My wife calls Cary Plumbing to set an appointment for them to come back out. Then they call me (since I had left home) and the person I talked to reminded me of what the plumber told me and that it was fixed when he left. He couldn't guarantee the repair. I said that I understood what he had told me, but he didn't tell me that those repairs needed to be done today. Now it's worse than it was before. Why didn't the guy just tell me instead of wasting an hour and acting like it was fixed, at least for the short term? The guy said that it really should be fixed today and the guy was just trying to do what he could to do the repair. I asked them if they would refund me that hour of laber if the plumber came back out and did the other repairs since what he did did not work. I think this was a reasonable request The guy said, "That's someone else's decision above me." I told him he could tell the owner that I was very dissapointed and would review them negatively on Angie's List (which is where I found them) if they didn't do as I requested. Once I stopped talking, no one was on the line. I don't think they hung up. But no one was said anything, so I hung up. They never called me back either. During that phone call, they never offered to even come out and look at the problem. They seemed more concerned with cancelling the appointment. I called another plumber since I couldn't leave it running all weekend. I had the other plumber replace a faucet that I bought, but he told that that my water pressure was fine. This experience looks to be a bait and switch tactic to me from Cary Plumbing. Either that, or they are incompetent. They were unethical and unprofessional. I don't how they have such a high rating on Angie's List. I will never use them again. They can also be sure that I will warn anybody who ever asks me about a plumber referral to not call Cary Plumbing.
Description of Work: I had Cary Plumbing install a new bathroom faucet and fix a slowly dripping one in the kitchen. The bathroom faucet replacement went fine. With the kitchen faucet, he replaced the sink cartridge, but mentioned that the entire sink was old and said the water pressure in my house was too high because I needed a new pressure water valve. He said these were things would need to get fixed in the near future.

Jeff did an excellent job. When I scheduled the appointment they said he would be here between 9 & 11. At 8:45 he called and said he would be here in 15 mins. Showed up right at 9. Replaced the faucet in no time, checked the front faucet to make sure it was ok and checked the water pressure. Was very friendly and professional. Gave me advice on how to prevent the problem from occurring in the future. Was not the first time I have called Cary Plumbing and had the same experience on the previous calls as well. Efficient and professional.

Mike Tingen was the foreman and was very knowledgable and professional. He came on time and ready to work each day. The team of 3 replaced the water pipes and handed the project off to Mike Dixon(subcontractor for drywall and painting). After a short delay due to illness he finished the job with excellent results. These people are hard-working and did a great job. I would hire them again in the future and recommend them to others.
