Dan at Blue Hill was response and helpful during scheduling. But once the job started, things went down hill. reviews 5 ★ 4 ★ 3 ★ 2 ★ 1 ★ 4.5 20 reviews Ian Storrs in the last week The work was very sloppy. They got paint on everything, even on plants near the street, far away from the house. They cleaned their paint brushes in my garden. They dripped paint on my stone porch. They spray painted the dry creek bed rocks the color of the deck. They spray painted the glass on multiple windows. They got siding drips on the trim and trim drips on the siding, all over the house. I pointed out numerous issues and Daniel always promised to resolve everything. In truth, he did resolve a lot of it. But this is the second time I have painted this house, and I have never had so many issues with the two previous contractors. This paint crew just did not seem to care about the quality of their work. The final walk through was a bit rushed, but I signed off because nothing obvious was visible. But over the next weeks I found that the back door painting was terrible, the front door was clearly only one coat that did not cover the previous color and they had sprayed siding color on one of the large architectural windows. It is always difficult to find all issues on one walk through because so much of exterior painting appearance depends on time of day and lighting conditions. I contacted Daniel about these issue and he said they would be resolved on October 19th. That did not happen. There was no explanation of why Daniel did not show up as promised. Since then, Daniel has not responded to any of my emails or my voice mails. I have been very patient with Blue Hill. What's left to finish could be done in 2 hours or less. I am surprised than Dan has just stopped responding completely. Overall, I feel that the paint crew was careless and sloppy and Daniel addressed that by promising that everything would be cleaned up. But two months later, everything has not been cleaned up and I cannot in good consciousness recommend them to anyone else. Photos below show the extent of sloppy work on the back door, the very poorly painted front door and the trim paint on one of the architectural windows of my house
Description of Work: They repainted the exterior of my house, siding and trim. They repaired rotten wood. They restrained my deck.

We tried to look them up on Angie's List and they only had one entry. We were moving and needed repairs and stuff done on the outside of our house. We would not recommend them because they totally cut corners, cheated and thought we would not catch them. The stuff they did right was good, but then the stuff they did bad was bad. What happened was they ran out of supplies -- the right boards -- so they used the wrong boards and they tried to splice two together . We had to make them take it apart and get the right stuff. They did some of the outside trim and did not have enough for the vertical trim so they just ended it there. They painted where they did not have enough white and thought we wouldn't notice. So they did not go out and buy more stuff or the right stuff. That was a bit crazy. They did come out and fix it all. The workers weren't as professional.
Description of Work: We had Blue Hill Painting come out and do something. They did stuff for us outside.

Blue Hill came out provided the quote and we accepted it. In the spring due to high demand it was going to be a few weeks before they could come out. That was fine with us. However, they continued to give us dates for when they would come they didn't show up on multiple occasions. This was frustrating. I understand there was a lot of rain and projects get delayed but just say that don't say I am going to come out next week and then you don't. Finally, they show up and the carpentry guys come over about 3 pm one day and said they were looking at the job and they be back the next morning. Well the next morning just one poor guy showed up without the right tools or without the carpentry team. He really tried to do the work by himself but it was clear that this job was over his head. I am not sure what happened or why the carpentry team didn't come back, but they walked off the job and didn't complete the work. He left my house with rotten fascia boards showing and debris in my yard which i had to pay a company to come remove. I had to go back to the drawing board and hire a new team of people. I really think that Dan is a good guy that could do a good job for you. I have seen his work on others houses and its nice. I think that he got himself in a situation where he underbid on a project and couldn't find a carpenter to do the work he had quoted us for. I wish he would have just be more upfront about it and we would have understood. If he said its going to be XX of dollars more to do this work we would have still used him. We just ended up paying someone else. I just hate it went down the way it did and I wish him the best with his business, but I would be cautious when getting quotes. If it seems too low it probably is.
Description of Work: We hired Blue Hill Painting to replace wood rot and to also paint the exterior of our home.

I had a tight timeline due to upcoming scheduled travel. Communications was excellent and my timeline demands were met. There was a price increase above original estimate when additional damaged boards and siding was discovered during power washing. This was communicated immediately and the price increase was reasonable. Power washing took 1-day. Repairs took 2-3 days. Painting took 2 days.
Description of Work: Removed down spouts and shutters. Power washed entire house. Repaired and replaced defective boards, window sills and eves. Sanded bare spots. Caulked and sealed joints and cracks. Protected deck, walkways, shrubs and fixtures. Painted exterior of house ... Spray applied. Painted trim and shutters. Re-installed shutters and removed masking on locks and knobs.
