I called this person/company prior to purchasing the coupon, to determine if he could do the required work under the coupon; he informed me that he could so I purchased the coupon on January 13, 2012. Since purchasing the coupon, I've called and left several voicemails (can't remember how many) and I've even sent an e-mail - so that I can schedule a time for him to come and do the work - as of yet, I have not gotten any type of response from him. Even though I have some time before the coupon expires (May 12th), I think it is very unprofessional to not return calls or respond to e-mails.

Shawn arrived on time. He was easy to work with and moved quickly from one job to another. He did a good job on each task and cleaned up an area before moving to the next. I would call Shawn for future handyman needs.

Shawn was professional, very responsive with the quote and details, on time and did a great job! My husband asked for additional quotes for adding piping for drainage and insulation. Shawn got the quotes back to us the same day!

Two weeks I called for an appointment. I never received a call back. I finally got my money back

He did some basic handyman work. Everything looked good.

He did an outstanding job and did all work within the time allotted.

They were very good; I worked with the gentleman by using an Angie's List coupon. They had a pretty high Angie's List rating and the job was done on time, within budget and everything went as expected. They were very busy so it took them a while to return my inquiry call and took over a week to come out to do the work. They do general handyman services and I will use them again in the future.

We had a coupon for $99 for 3 hours of service and then we had to pay for the materials. The price was excellent. The work was great. He was very professional. He was late because of a problem with his truck but he did apologize. He took everything to the dump. We had to pay a small fee for that, but it wasn't very much and he told us ahead of time. We had to email him a couple of times before he responded.

I was pleased he thought outisde the box and did not turn it into a big complicated project. I was able to go through with the fence. He worked an additional hour without charging me, which I appreciated. He is very knowledgeable as a handyman. He is honest and pleasant, and I felt safe with him at my home.

No Call back...with the special I was hoping to hear from him.

Shawn gave us a detailed written estimate listing every step he was going to take. He did the work on time and cleaned up completely after he was done. He also explained why the old posts failed. We are very pleased with Shawn and his work and plan on using him for many more jobs.

Shawn Von Allmen is the guy I dealt with and I have used him in the past. I know he does excellent work. I signed up again to use him in my own personal home when I saw that he had the Angie’s List deal. I was very pleased with his work. He is an experienced carpenter. He is very versatile and he knows how to do a lot of things. He even does tile work and everything. His work is very good. He hasn’t been to my house yet. We have talked to him, but we haven’t been able to arrange our schedule with him yet. He did an excellent job for me 3 years ago. I don’t remember the price charged by him for the last service since it was a big job. He is very meticulous in the work that he does. He is very knowledgeable about all types of home remodeling. His price was very fair. The quality of his work was very good and I had no problems with him. However, I did have some issues with him being there when he said he would show up. That was the only issue I had. Occasionally, he would not show up on time. I would definitely use his services again.

It was a Big Deal for $99 for 3 hours of work and it was excellent. I did have them estimate some other things but I haven't had anything else done. He did quality work. The microwave had come with a different mount and he worked with the tile and mounting to retrofit it; he shouldn't have had to do that extra work. He was quick, clean and good. It was very good quality. I would use them again.

He was very good. He was on Angie’s List Big Deal. So, he did work for three hours for $100. It was a good deal. The job went very well. He was very time conscientious while doing every task that I had for him; there was no time lag. I would like the others to know that he does very good work and gives very good value for the quality of work that he does. I would use his services again in the future.

Shawn was very adept at his work and provided frank and honest advice about the projects. We had one other item on the "to do" list that he discussed with us and we realized it wouldn't actually work the way we thought - one exterior door had two thin cracks in the lower panels and we hoped to get them filled. Since the cracks were so thin, however, it would have been impossible to get any kind of wood filler or glue into them to hold it into place. He discussed what may have caused the cracks, what options we have for repair and replacement, and how to avoid them in the future. His openness was refreshing and demonstrated that he really wanted us to have the best solution rather than anything that would in particular benefit him. He was also very honest about what types of work would be outside his realm of expertise and what he could perform well. The tasks we did need to have done were performed thoroughly and professionally. We were particularly impressed with the quality of the drywall patching. After we painted it, the areas were flush and level with the wall so invisible to the eye. The only place we saw any room for improvement was that he sometimes took several days to reply to an e-mail as we were planning the tasks. Since his responses were always thorough, however, this is only a minor concern. We would certainly use his services again in the future.

Shawn was very thorough and professional, and since it took him two hours to complete the work, he credited me for an hour to use in the future. Very pleased with his workmanship and creativity in fixing some of the problems, including grinding down a vent cover. Will definitely contact in the future for handyman work!

There were a couple of minor scheduling issues but Shawn performed the work as agreed and to our satisfaction. We asked for an estimate to rescreen 1 section of our screened in porch. Shawn provided the estimate in a timely fashion and performed that work to our satisfaction as well.

I picked this company for two reasons, one was geographical closeness to my home and the other was that Shawn had an Angie's list Big Deal that I purchased. I think Shawn is a good Handyman, but he works alone and I think he was getting too much work via the BigDeal and couldn't keep up with it. I only needed some small work done, and was getting pushed off due to larger contracts he was working on. He ultimately did a fine job with the install, I just had to wait several weeks for him to perform the work, and he expressed a bit of attitude when he showed up to do the work. I could not use my pantry until this work was done which was very hard for me. I had paid the $70 for the work and he purchased the pantry door, and he ended up giving it to me because of the delay (it was about a $30 door). I did not have him do any of the other work I originally asked him to do. If anyone knows of a handyman that truly wants to do small jobs and can give the attention to them, please let me know. I think if I hired Shawn for something larger, he would do a fine job.

Once he arrived, he was the best person for what I needed. He knows his stuff and knows it well, and he noticed even the small things. I was very pleased with his work. His reports came to me in an extremely timely manner, and they helped me with the people I was dealing with by pointing things out to them. I was drawn to him by the reviews I read about him on Angie's List, and my experience matched those I had read about. I would definitely have him back.

We had purchased a special coupon offer that was posted on Angie's List for 3 hours of handyman work for $99.00. We purchased two coupons, so 6 hours of work in total. We had some ceiling sheet rock that we needed replaced, plus taping and mudding that we wanted done. It took some time (almost a week) to get the contractor to respond back to my initial calls to schedule the work (because he works days and doesn't get home till late in the evening), but once he did return my call he explained that he could perform the work. He explained that he had been overwhelmed with the response to the coupon offer and wouldn't be available to do the work until about a month out (September). Since the mudding of the joints requires drying time, we discussed him performing the initial 3 hours of work on September 13th, when my husband was back from his business trip and had downtime to provide assistance with the work, and have him (the contractor) return the next day for the last 3 hours to complete the job. On September 13th he didn't show. When we called him, he explained that he had us scheduled for September 15th at 9 AM, and he showed up at 9:30 AM. He worked with my husband for the initial 3 hours replacing the sheet rock and mudding the joints, and then explained that would not be able to return until the following Monday 9/19/11 to complete the job because he had scheduled other clients over the next couple of days. On Monday, he did not show or contact us to explain. We have made repeated attempts to contact him to arrange for the final 3 hours of work that we have already PREPAID for, but have not received a call back from him yet. Although the quality of the work of this contractor was acceptable (he never finished the job to obtain a true rating on the quality of work), he is not reliable and does not follow through on his commitments. He appears to oversell his service and under deliver. We are seeking a refund for the final 3 hours of labor that we pre-paid for since we have had to finish the work already ourselves. This is NOT the quality of work that I would expect for an Angies List grade "A" contractor. 9/29/11 UPDATE ------ Mr. von Allmen, I have checked my email every night and have yet to receive a message from you with the information/explanation you provided below. In addition, one would think that repeated phone calls and requests by a customer for information about why they haven't heard back from you might indicate that we never received your message. As simple call back to explain would have helped resolve the situation easily. Instead I find it odd that a business person that professes to value his customers and repeated business would leave them hanging with a half done job and an explanation that "I emailed you" with no confirmation of receipt of message. Additionally, I find it even more disturbing, and I might say irresponsible, that even with the conditions you say you are trying to manage right now with your equipment and inability to meet the current demand of the coupons you sold, you are still selling more through Angies List! When we spoke on the phone and made arrangements for the work, at no time did you mention the distance as a factor. It's frustrating that you are using that as a factor. Other vendors that we have contracted with have considered that distance was a problem, communicated that it was not in their best interest or ours and simply refunded the money. This is a more reasonable, and customer friendly solution, since it doesn't put the customer in the position of feeling taken advantage of and forced to chase after the contractor for service they have already paid for in good faith. Finally, you indicated that you can get some time mid next week do perform the work, but it seems you fail to acknowledge that it would require one of us taking time off from our jobs to be here for you to perform the work, something that we had already done to accommodate YOUR schedule before. We have subsequently lost that time and are not willing to take the risk of losing more precious paid leave. I can appreciate your situation and the problems you are experiencing, but please try to understand it from the perspective of someone who has already acted in good faith and paid for your services. At this point we have already completed the work ourselves and no longer need, nor seek your services and would like a prompt refund for the final amount $99 for 3 hours.

I did speak with him once, but after that no response. Never contacted me back to honor my big deal. Called him numerous times. Shawn did not return any my calls.

Shawn came out 3 times to ficomplete the work and did a very good job. On the first trip, he removed the window seat, mudded the wall and laid hardwood flooring to match the rest of the floor and to cover the newly exposed area. He also taped and muidded the sheetrock in another room to repair where the tape pulled away from the wall. He came back 2 more times to get the sheetrock sanded and ready for primer and paint. There was a problem with the floor vent not fitting quite right, but I felt like he worked with me and fixed it to my satisfaction.

Shawn arrived when scheduled and completed the work in about 2 hours. He was very professional, attentive and showed his knowledge in what was causing the problems. Be advised, he is very busy and you may have to wait a few weeks for him to get to you.
