Dale is fantastic to work with. He has great ideas, and can solve difficult situations very creatively. His workers are real craftsmen. The project came in under budget and ahead of time. Can't ask for more than that! I would definitely hire him again.

I picked up a postcard posted locally on a local bulletin board from the contractor which states "Carolina Remodeling and Home Repair". I called the phone number but didn't leave a message because the outgoing message was generic and did not mention anything about a business. So I hung up. Later that day, I got a phone call from Mr. Dale Giera who stated that he was the phone number I had called and asked me what business I was interested in. I stated that I needed some home repairs and I had his post card which mentioned the phone number and business. He stated that he would call me back and that he was a carpenter and capable of doing the work. He never called me back. There is no business mentioned on the outgoing message yet he promised that he is a "Master Carpenter and Builder in Chapel Hill for 30 years" on the post card but does not even return phone calls. I assume that he just says he will call people back and then not follow through if he just doesn't want the job.

When I showed Dale pictures of my old screened in porch and built in bookcases, he took the ideas and made them fit the new space. While my old bookcases were completely custom, he used stock bottoms to save some money on the new ones. They look fantastic. Doing the remodel of the kitchen he also came up with several ingenious solutions to problems. For example, I took out one of those odd little desk areas and put in a second oven but there was this left over space. He managed to cut up some of the old cabinets and with some new wood and stain, make them look just like the rest of the kitchen.

Dale is extremely professional. He responds right away in email or on the phone. Nick did most of the manual labor but Dale was around every day to check up on everything and talk to us. When Nick redid the first upstairs closet, I realized that the two rods were a little lower than I'd wanted. I hadn't been clear when I explained everything to Dale. I was so frustrated that I hadn't been more clear, but didn't want to spend a lot of money to redo it, so was planning on just living with it. Dale understood that I was upset and offered to redo that closet for only the cost of the new materials. I was thrilled. Overall, Dale was a joy to work with. He is extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with. We plan on calling him when we decide to redo our attic. You will not regret calling him.
