Aldridge Plumbing

Unfortunately, this is my first negative review on Angie's List. I have used Aldridge Plumbing 3-4 times over the past 2-3 years and given them favorable reviews in the past. In Dec. 2014 they came over and fixed a relief valve/pipe on my water heater in garage that was leaking water. At that time I asked them to turn down the temperature on the water heater because I thought the water was too hot - and they did this. After a couple of months I decided it was not hot enough since you could hold your hand under the fully hot running water without any discomfort, so I needed it turned back up. I kept forgetting to call them to come out and just turn up temp again, but one of the plumbers stopped by a yard sale at my house and I asked him if he could do that for me while he was there but he said he didn't have his tools with him and I could just call the office and they would stop by and do it. Again I did not remember to do this until a few months later when I was having company and wanted to make sure I had plenty of hot water. I left a message on their answering machine telling them what I needed and they called me back and scheduled it for late that afternoon. They arrived on time, spent two minutes showing me how to adjust the water heater temperature, adjusted it and charged me $98. My neighbor, who was over visiting, and I were shocked and asked them why they were charging so much for a 2 minute call? I HAD failed to ask them on the phone IF there would be a charge and how much it would be, and they also did not tell me over the phone when scheduling the visit there would be a charge. The plumbing tech insisted I owed the $98 for a service call. I told him I used them repeatedly but that made no difference to him. As I paid the tech I told him I would no longer use Aldridge Plumbing for any services. My neighbor made sure to ask the name of their company so she would not use them and let everyone else know this situation. I was so disappointed with this situation I wanted to give the owner Gary Aldrige - who I had dealt with personally in the past -the benefit of the doubt so I wrote him a letter about the situation and told him that I realized he was in business, and I was willing to pay a reduced rate for the service call but I really thought $98 for a 2 minute service call was unfair. I asked him to respond to me but to date have not heard from him, and my $98 check cleared the bank quite speedily. For this reason I can no longer recommend Aldridge Plumbing.

Called office and left message stating that I needed non-emergency service. No one was using the guest room at that time, and the leak was slow, so I asked him to fit me in sometime during the following week. He called back and said he was in the neighborhood and could come now. I have used this plumber before with very positive results. Mr. Aldridge is a very polite and helpful man. He and his assistant went right to work and solved my issues. What else is there to say? His business is close by, he presents himself in a very professional manner, and he solves problems.

They were able to come out and do the work around our schedule. Arrived on time, worked quickly and cleaned up. Everything works great!! We would definitely call them again for any plumbing needs.

I work 20 miles from my home and Aldridge Plumbing is local to my house and had good reviews on Angie's list so I called them for the repair. They agreed to work with me and come to my house while I was at work and enter the unlocked garage to repair the water heater. I would stop by their offices that evening and pay them. All went as planned, they contacted me by phone during the day about the repair/cost, the water heater worked and I paid them. I appreciate the mutual trust and convenience.

Our toilets were backing up on us, requiring vigorous plunging one or twice daily. We don't live year round in Kure Beach and had used only one plumber previously in the area. That plumber's phone line was tied up the morning we decided daily plunging was stupid, and decided joining Angie's list was a good idea. We found favorable reviews for Aldridge Plumbing and gave them a call. Got a call back almost immediately. They listened to our problem over the phone told us what might be involved and set up a time that afternoon to come out and deal with whatever. They arrived precisely on time. Determined very quickly on to our relief that we didn't have a backed up sewer line. They quickly replaced ancient and worn out flappers on both toilets, flushed a couple times with wads of toilet paper in both bowls and left us feeling quite satisfied.

What more is there to say. We are happy,

We have used Aldredge pluming several times over the last 20 years. They have always done a great job and were very reasonable. The latest incident was when a faucet they installed the year before became a little loose. We called they came right away and didn't charge us anything for the repair. They are a fantastic company. They show up right away, they guarantee their work and come back if there are any issues. Clean up is really good as well. I would highly recommend them.
