Excellent. I have moved a lot and Personal Touch was by far the best movers I have ever worked with. The crew was professional, courteous and fast. They were very careful with my furniture and did not scratch one thing. They actually came in under the estimate that I was given. I could not have asked for a better move.

I found them online and saw that they were licensed and insured and that they offered free estimates. I called and spoke with one of the owners Glen and requested a free estimate. He asked me over the phone what they were moving. I explained that I had a 10x15 storage unit that was full but not packed so tight that there was not room to move around inside the storage unit. I then explained in great detail that I was concerned about the place that they would be moving it to because the apartment was on the backside of the building and could only be accessed by going down several concrete stairs and up to a second floor apartment. Within seconds Glen quoted me two people at $120.00 per hour for three hours and $60.00 travel fee. I then expressed concern over how sure he was of the estimate because of moving expenses I only had a limited amount of money. He said he was sure his people could get it done in that amount of time. I then set up the moving date and time with one of his associates. The day of the move Ronald one of his movers called me and said they had a third person available for the move and the rates would go to $150.00 per hour but with three people they would be able to get it done quicker and it would wind up being less than the original quote. I agreed to this. They showed up at the storage unit with two men and the third person being a petite female and one dolly cart at 9:00 am and had me quickly sign their paperwork so they could get started. Upon first look of the storage unit Ronald said they should be able to unload the unit in an hour and then two hours to unload at the apartment. That was the first issue. He was saying I was then at 3 hours at $150.00 and a $75.00 travel charge which was not less than the original quote. However I had to have the items out of the storage unit that day per my agreement with the storage unit so I went with that. After 2 hours Ronald communicated to me that I did realize an estimate was just an estimate and I communicated to him that I had realized that one hour ago but an estimate should be close to the actual cost. The female moved a dresser in the unit and caused a tower of boxes along with two plastic tubs to crash to the ground. One of the tubs disintegrated upon impact the other busted. The tower of boxes contained glass items including princess house glasses. I ask at that point how that was going to be handled and Ronald communicated to me that they would check the boxes once they delivered the furniture. They did not mark the boxes in any way in order to check them once they were moved. Once they loaded everything from the storage unit we then traveled to the apartment. The actual movers freaked out when they saw what they had to move the furniture down and up in order to get it to the apartment but started using the one dolly they had brought and began moving my stuff. They finished the job through a thunderstorm which had to be paused for and one of the movers was also stung by a bee during the move around 2:40pm. Ronald then went to the truck to put my bill together and presented me with an $828.00 bill. I told him he needed to get one of the owners on the phone. Originally I spoke with Glen and explained to him that he was going to have negotiate this with me because I was presented a bill that was twice as much as the quote. I explained to him that I am a single mother of two children with two jobs and this was not possible for me. At some point the other owner Craig intervened in the conversation and was completely rude to me. I explained that I worked for a business in which when we did estimates, we actually sent a technician out to determine what would be needed and how much time it would take to complete the job and we overestimated in most cases and the customer paid less. I told him that was good business practices, the way they are running this business was unacceptable. At the time I offered to pay him $600.00 which I thought would be fair and try to meet him half way to make this right. Craig refused my offer and told me he would see me in court. The actual employees that work for him that moved my stuff communicated to me that they were cussed on a regular basis by customers for this same thing and praised me for refusing to pay the bill. I immediately filed a complaint with the BBB as soon as the movers left. They broke a leg off of a $350.00 stand up mirror that is solid wood and opens to a jewelry stand, they also broke and lost a knob off of a dresser that I will never be able to replace. Over the next few days as I unpacked my items I discovered broken pictures that were destroyed because the glass cut the pictures, broken dishes, broken trophies that my children earned and meant to keep forever that resulted from the boxes the female allowed to fall in the storage unit. She also dropped the one dolly they actually brought and almost took out a brand new 47" flat screen TV on it's plunge into the wall of my apartment and did damage to the walls of my apartment. Craig has pathetically responded to my complaint with the BBB and told nothing but lies in his response which I have rejected and he has now indicated through the BBB he will see me in small claims court and he will win. I during the next week on my second job happened to run into a previous employee of theirs who offered to testify that this is a pricing scheme this company uses on a regular basis. I have also spoke to numerous people that used other moving companies who said they actually came out to either their storage unit or their house and then traveled to where they would be moving their stuff and gave them an estimate which actually was what they paid when the move was over. Please put this review out there, once its posted I am sure there are plenty of other people who had this same experience with this company and they will gladly admit that they were done the same way by this business.
Description of Work: Pathetically moved and broke my items from a storage unit to an apartment less than two miles away.

They were beyond terrible. They put my potted plants in the bottom of wardrobe boxes. When I unpacked my clothes, not only were the plants dead, but there was dirt all over my clothing. Toilet cleaner was put into a wardrobe box with clothing hung on top of it. By the grace of God the cleaner didn't open as my clothing would have been ruined. My jewelry was dumped from the drawer where I kept it into the bottom of another box. I am still unable to untangle many of the necklaces with delicate chains. My husband's starched work shirts were not hung in a wardrobe box, but stuffed in a dish pack box. They are a wrinkled wad. Personal Touch also didn't mark the contents or the room location on many of our boxes. We didn't know in which room to put our boxes or where things were that we needed. In addition to all this, none of our furniture was wrapped or protected in any way. Just about every flat surface on just about EVERY piece of furniture is scratched from boxes being slid across the top or furniture being stacked. Personal Touch broke the leg off one of my tables. They broke the leg off an antique wardrobe. (Instead of picking up the wardrobe, they drug it.) Pieces of wood trim are broken off pieces of furniture and are missing. They cracked the foot board on one of our beds (I can't even begin to imagine how they did that), and broke a finial off another piece of furniture. Personal Touch broke a hunk out of the marble top of a marble top table. Many of our furniture pieces will need professional restoration. Glen Cox of Personal Touch sold my husband on their services. Glen said that because they would do such a careful job with our move we didn't need to purchase full coverage insurance. We will now get pennies for the damage caused by Personal Touch Movers. After spending $5399 on this move, we will be paying another fortune to have our furniture restored. You've been warned.

I have moved many, many times including long distance moves, and I must say that Personal Touch Movers is just what their name says. They were extremely professional from the beginning to the end. I have moved in the past with "big name" movers, and have had numerous problems including rude movers, broken furniture, unresponsive calls, no-show and more. You will experience none of these with this company. The owners, Craig and Glen take a personal interest in their business and their satisfaction of their customers. The team of movers that moved us took pride in their work, handled the furniture as if it was their own. We are so happy that we found them on Angie's List. Their "A" rating is well deserved, Hire them you won't be sorry that you did!

They arrived on time and immediately started working. Even though they worked non-stop, they found time to be humorous and friendly. The packer they recommended, Grace, was exceptional. I find myself still feeling thankful to her for the perfect job she did of unpacking my things. This is the best moving company in Asheville. The house cleaner they recommended was also exceptional! Moving is never easy for anyone, so I am doubly grateful to Personal Touch for making my move so much easier.
Description of Work: Personal Touch moved me July of this year; they were personable, generous, kind, and professional. They are no-non-sense, they work hard and steady. These guys made my move so much easier. I would recommend them without hesitation. The two owners, Glenn and Craig, made a point to come early to introduce themselves. I've used other movers in Asheville, but Personal Touch is by far the best. Not one thing was broken or scratched during the move!

Details are written above. Well pleased. Would ask for them again if we moved. Hopefully we won't!
Description of Work: Two men, I think the driver was Mark or Matt and other gentlemen was John, They were polite, right to the job, surveyed the things to be moved. Wrapped necessary items. It took them four hours and fifteen minutes. They packed the furniture and drove it nine miles and unpacked. They deducted thirty min for lunch. They were careful to handle the furniture and did not damage anything! They put each thing in the right place and even changed a couple things for me.

I hired two movers for three hours to help move our furniture and boxes from our old house in Fairview to a new home we had purchased in Black Mountain. Two young men showed up about 5 minutes after they were scheduled to arrive. I didn't mind that because our old house in Fairview was pretty remote and difficult for most first-timers to find. They were supposed to bring a 24-foot moving truck, but the one they brought was smaller (maybe 18 feet?). My husband told them the truck looked small, and they acknowledged the error by offering to help us make two trips instead of one so we could get everything moved. The extra trip took more time -- at least a couple of hours. We fed the guys pizza lunch since they were staying extra-long. Overall, I think they did a fine job and the level of service and professionalism was equal to what I had expected. I would recommend this moving service, but make sure you are clear about the truck size in advance and confirm the truck size upon arrival.

Our move went very poorly. The move was rushed as they told me they had another move to do that day. Found out this wasn't true from the owner/manager when I complained later on. A lot of our stuff was damaged. The guy in charge of the move was condescending and one of the other movers complained the whole time about how much of a hassle it was to move our heavy furniture. If we couldn't decide where to put something in 1 second, they would just leave it anywhere. We had to move some stuff on our own after they hurried out of here. We had stuff that Good Will was going to pick up at our old house that day and two of the movers wanted most of it. One of the guys said he'd be back to pick up the stuff he wanted after the move, but never came back. Good Will had already come so we had to get rid of the stuff ourselves. It was the most stressful, unpleasant move of our lives so far! Would NEVER hire them again!

We were very pleased by the outstanding level of service and the overall value we received from Personal Touch Movers. Agreement had previously been reached for service at a rate of $90.00 per hour for the services of two movers plus a $45.00 trip charge. With a designated appointment time of 10:00 a.m., at approximately 8:40 a.m. a call was received from Donald of Personal Touch Movers. He indicated he was calling to confirm the property address as well as to indicate the availability of his colleague and him to come earlier than the scheduled appointment time if it were preferable for us. We so agreed and he and his colleague, Kyle, arrived shortly after 9:00 a.m. After taking time to learn the nature of the internal moving work we wanted to perform and to complete some service documentation, the two movers began work at 9:10 p.m. The scope of the work performed included: · Living room couch to upstairs bedroom · Shift upstairs bedroom furniture including positioning of couch · Office bookshelf to front wall of garage · Two-drawer filing cabinet in garage to closet of office · Antique desk to wall previously occupied by office bookshelf · Living room chair and ottoman to office on wall previously occupied by antique desk · Curio cabinet in living room to office · Shrink wrap and store four dining chairs in storage area above garage · Guestroom bedroom fabric chair to garage near driveway end of garage · Televisions in guestroom to garage near driveway end of garage · Lamps in guestroom to garage near driveway end of garage · Reposition chest of doors in guestroom to wall nearest doorway · Reposition living room rug Even with stairs involved in the moving of a full sized couch, the work was performed in a highly efficient manner while all the while ensuring that no damage was sustained to the walls or other surfaces of our home. From the time the overall work commenced until it was finished was just under one hour, an accomplishment that we both admired and appreciated. The price of the work performed was as agreed: $90.00 for one hour of labor for two men plus a $45.00 trip charge or $135.00 in total. To us, this was an excellent value to be sure. Whether it be for future internal moving needs or whole house moves within North Carolina, we readily endorse the services of Personal Touch Movers.

The two men arrived promptly at the storage warehouse where an antique piano was to be picked up. They wrapped it carefully before putting it in the truck. Next they went to the paint studio where a metal retro kitchenette had just been painted. Again they carefully wrapped this bulky, heavy item as if it was a fragile heirloom, gently put it in the truck being mindful of the new paint finish, and delivered both pieces to our home. In order for the two pieces to be put in their new position, two sofas had to be swapped from one room to another which they easily handled. Overall, the service was excellent and I would recommend them to others.

Everything was smooth. The three guys were friendly and happy all day. They had great ideas on where stuff should go. But best of all they reassured me throughout the process and it was stress free. They knew what they were doing and did not waste any time. Not one thing was damaged. I called several places off of angies list and in my opinion they had the most reasonable quote. This moving thing is hard but these three guys made it much easier! I can't thank them enough.

I had called two different moving companies and gave both a break-down of what I had to move. Both companies gave me the same time for the job - 3 to 4 hours. I chose Personal Touch because of all these great Angie's List reviews! All I can say is, the time wound up being 6.2 hours - so about double the quote. Yes, the two guys who came out to move me were very nice and friendly. They didn't break a thing. All I can say is they were a little too friendly - they wanted to talk, and when they talked, they stopped working. And when they did work, they took their time. It was stressing me out to watch it because it was all so painfully slow - I thought for sure the move was going to take all day at their pace. These were both hired guys - but no one came by the job site to supervise. When I questioned them throughout the day about the quote and the time it was taking already, they just brushed it off like the quotes are usually low. SO... after my experience and how badly this broke the budget, I would really suggest you only use this company if Friendly and Nice goes ahead of Price for you. Or either get the owner to come out and look at the house and give you something in writing with some sort of guarantee... when he gave me the quote over the phone, he seemed so sure of it and didn't offer to do that for me - now I wish I had asked for that.. I was too trusting based on Angie's List. I did call the company to let them know about this situation, but I wasn't offered any compensation back. I am only posting this because I had joined Angie's list for good direction, so just trying to help the next person in case you don't want to spend an extra few hundred dollars.

Personal Touch Movers.... just wow. Look no further for your search for moving help, because these guys will absolutely come through for you. If I had some way of personally guaranteeing it, I would! They truly saved me, and did a fantastic job. I was in a serious bind caused by a different company that had canceled for no reason (see my other reviews for more on that, because you definitely want to avoid THAT company) the day of my move. I was calling every company on Angie's List and getting no answer (or laughter, when they did answer and I explained the situation) until I called Personal Touch Movers... and when I explained that I knew it was really last minute but that I had a partially loaded rental truck and desperately needed moving help TODAY, the man I spoke to?Glen, I think his name was, though I'm not 100% sure!?completely surprised me by saying "Yeah... yeah, I think we can shift some things around and get some guys out to help you." Sure enough, two guys showed up less than an hour later and saved me. If it weren't for them I'd have been out hundreds of dollars in fines for returning the truck late and failing to be out of my apartment on time, AND I'd have still been trying to find someone to help me move. They were friendly, generous with advice, funny, good-natured, and just generally a pleasure to work with. They moved some enormously heavy things that really needed three guys to lift, but they did it with two and completely floored me. I've had time now since the move to inspect all of my belongings and everything made it through without a scratch, which has never happened before in a move! My super steep driveway made unloading difficult but I never heard a word of complaint from them. They just tried a few different positions with the truck and made it work. I've moved six times in the last ten years, and never have I been more impressed with a moving help company. When you add that to the fact that they were able to show up less than an hour after I called needing help, and that they completely saved my move, well... if I could write this company a love song, I would! Thanks, guys.
Description of Work: Saved my life!! But seriously: two movers helped me load a rented truck with the furniture and boxes in my apartment, drive it over to my new house, and then unload it there. Approximately six hours of work, I believe, along with a big tip for being basically amazing.

On moving day Luther and Donald showed up promptly and worked without stopping from 9 AM to 12 noon as the heat rose steadily. No complaints! This move took virtually all day. One desk had to be taken apart and reassembled at the destination. The price was quoted by weight since the travel time was over 2 hours from place to place. Both men were very professional and knowledgeable and made the job look easy. All of our belongings were handled with care and placed wherever we indicated they should go. I would highly recommend this company. We plan to have them move some things into storage for us in the future.

Wow?this is easy to remember. First of all, Mr. Harrell (not sure of first name?think it started with "C"?but remember his face and presence) came out to the house from which I was moving to give me a moving quote. Because I was downsizing and had hired professionals to hold the estate downsizing sale, I was not certain of all the the furniture that I was willing to part with. This gentleman was patient, humorous, and thorough when explaining how they moved personal belongings. I was delighted to know that his crew would arrive on time, would protect the entry way, wooden floors, furnishings, and boxes from damage. He also explained that beds would be reassembled and placed in designated rooms in whatever spot I had chosen for them to be placed. The same criteria applied to all household furniture, boxes, patio furnishings, large potted plants?.even a huge grill. Since so much was being moved, I was pleased with the quote I was given. On moving day the crew arrived on time. They were cheerfull, polite, relaxed and knew exactly what they were doing. One prepared the front entrance for the move by protecting the door jams and the doors themselves with curved, thick protecting forms and laid down thick plastic to ensure that the floors would not be soiled or damagaed. Another member of the moving team wrapped all of the furnishings with plastic wrap, another took the beds apart while yet another moved boxes in preparation for the move outside and into the truck. They worked quickly, in tandem without any evidence of stress, confusion, or annoyance. Everything went smoothly and the van was loaded. Moving pads protected the furniture, standing items were secured and boxes were packed so perfectly that movement was impossible. I remember thinking that they were so throrough and moved so quickly that they reminded me of bees working within their beehive (my son, when just a little boy, had a hive encased in glass and I used to watch them with him). Before I knew it the hours flew by and they were on their way. Upon arrival at the house they once again amazed me. Once again they prepared the new house by protecting the entryway, floors, etc. by doing the same things they had done in the house I had moved out of. No complaining did I hear, not once was anything dropped. After I paid them and they left I sat down in absolute relief! Nothing visible was broken, the furniture was all in place?even the grill out on the back deck had been uncovered and reassembled. The huge urns holding potted plants were out on the deck and the patio furniture was in place. What is even better is that over days I unpacked dishes, glasses, vases, etc. NOT ONE SINGLE ITEM WAS BROKEN OR DAMAGED! The beautiful wooden floors in the old house had been left in inmaculate condition! I can honestly state that this was the best move I had ever experienced and there have been many associated with my career. I told myself that I now had first-hand knowledge of just how good these people were and that I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends ( I had asked for business cards from them for just that purpose). I am now moving across the street to what I hope will be my permanent home and will only call upon Personal Touch Movers. It is said that moving is one of life's greatest anxiety and stress events?..they took most of that stress away. In fact, I look forward to seeing them again? they were great and I did enjoy them. So, if any of you dread an upcoming move, I recommend you call them?they will also do your packing for you if you so desire.
