During some of the recent heavy rains we found that our old gravity drain was actually draining water from the yard back into our basement. In 4 hours we had 2000 gallons of water come in. David came out to see the house within days of our initial call. He was thorough in his assessment and provided us a quote the same day. We agreed to the proposed work and he put us on his schedule. The work was completed in the time frame originally estimated. David and his father were punctual and easy to work with. Every call or text was answered promptly. This weekend we had 4+ inches of rain in less then 24 hours. Drains and pumps worked perfectly and we have a completely dry basement. We recommend David Gibson with no reservations.
Description of Work: Replaced all downspout drain lines to insure water was drained away from foundation. Removed and replaced sixty year old gravity sump drain with new sump and heavy duty pump. Replaced concrete retaining walls with tiered stacked stone walls. Installed new aFrench drain to empty into sump. Reseeded areas where drain lines had been trenches.

Work went great! David and his Father showed up when they said they would, completed the work within the estimated time period and kept me informed during the entire process. David also provided some good advice on the asphalt estimates we were securing. Very pleased with his work as well as his professionalism and friendliness!

We have a two story garage that was built against a steep bank. The excessive and continuous pressure of the earth made the concrete blocks buckle and crack. There is also an enclosed porch that is built over the area where the dirt needed to removed. We hired Gibson's contracting for the job, as he gave us the best solutions and price. We are so happy that we did! David is very professional and does what he says he is going to do. He is direct, yet courteous. He was on time everyday and completed the job for that days task.He worked in terrible weather, rain, sleet, snow, and always had a ready smile when we would go to check on him. In order to save the enclosed porch, he hand shoveled at least 2 tons of dirt . YES, let me repeat that ... HE HAND SHOVELED 2 TONS of PACKED, COLD, and GRANITE filled DIRT! AND it was bitterly cold those 3 days ... I truly do not believe we would have talked another contractor into doing that ... it would have been, bye bye porch, and they would have used their mechanical rigs for this task. This saved us a lot of money, since we didn't need to tear down, haul off, and rebuild that porch! David was here everyday, and always called to let us know that he was enroute with an approximate arrival time! Every task was finished for that day and he would tell us exactly what he had planned for the next day! Sure can't say that for previous contractors that we have hired in the past! :) We also had a retaining that needed to be replaced, and David did a beautiful job tiering that bank and adding boulders! We are so happy and proud of that area now! It was such a eyesore, but now, it is a awesome space! Would we hire Gibson's contracting again? OH YES ... WE WILL!

They contacted us about garage structure issues, On one side the dirt was causing wall to bow and there was no good way to get equipment so I hand excavated out around 25k-30k of dirt, then installed steal braces. we also repaired other damage areas and installed a support footing. They had a block wall that was failing so we replaced with a double tier boulder wall and installed a rock wall behind the shed. everything turned out well and we enjo4 working with them. When I was out working they had a lil dog named Bella, she would come visit me while I was working. thank you again I look forward to your next project

She contacted us about her house which half the house had become unstable and floors was getting soft, when I inspected under the house I found that the owner before her had put on a 14ftx76ft addition which joist and beams, foundation could not handle the weight. We went in and built large beams, beefed up joist, added numerous piers, releveled everything, shire up floors. it was a large undertaking and limited space. everything turned out really well and she was very happy with the results, we enjoyed working with her and thank you for letting us work on your home

It has been 2+ years since Gibson Grading and Construction removed an old wood sagging retaining wall and added a curved three-tier retaining wall. This wall is located right next to a state road and gets a lot of rushing water by it. The wall has not moved at all and I have not even noticed any “Settling.” It looks as beautiful as when first built. I have had a small amount of sediment go through wall during heavy rains, but believe that to be because of a mole problem in the area and some sediment is to be expected in this type of build. Love it, well worth the investment and am thankful for their hard work and David’s great design eye.

It went amazingly well! David responded very quickly to every text or emailed question, and was at the site exactly when he said he would be without fail. He listened to what we wanted, figured out a reasonable way to make it happen, and did highly skilled, professional work. He even let us know a specific time frame for scheduling so that we could get a discount on the filler from another demolition site, and brought his delightful father with him a couple times. What a team they were! - friendly, funny, respectful, working hard all the while, producing on time and getting the job done well. My old pool area is now a flourishing garden and we are so very happy with his work!

David does not stand by his work. We made a substantial investment in his work and when we continued to have issues he was quick to make excuses and not take any responsibility. When we initiated this project, he suggested what we could do to resolve water issues in our basement; we chose to go above and beyond his initial recommendation and paid him to do another level of preventative work. We wanted peace of mind. We have never had that. In instances of heavy raining weather we still have water coming in our basement from the area where he previously worked. When we’ve tried to address this with him, he becomes very defensive and has accused me of wanting free work. Nothing could be further from the truth, we will not work with David Gibson again. I feel it is our responsibility to make others aware of our experience. I anticipate he will write a defense of this review as he’s done with previous negative reviews; this only further demonstrates his unwillingness to take responsibility for his work.

Response from Gibson's Grading And Construction
in 2015 she called us about water issues in her basement, I met with her and her husband and looked several options. One thing they said they did not want to cut into the slab in basement to put in a deep saturation sump pump, they wanted us to cut in the block wall and pipe in to catch above ground water then run pipes outside to pumps to pump out, this method does not cut up the slab.we also installed new gutter Downspout plus installed French drains as well and put foundation coating on the wall. When we was finished I walked them thru the process how to care and general maintenance, I do this practice with each customer! The day we installed this 6 inches of rain fell in 30 hours and it worked flawlessly! Here is what She Wrote " David and His dad did a great Job.They was very clear about their plan and kept us up to date and informed along the way". They was very with work performed. Several years ago she contacted me about doing some work in her back yard that included tearing down a old retaining wall and building a new wall, perform landscaping and other grading, I gave her a price and she told me she would have to wait for awhile until she could budget for the project plus during this time I inspected work we done years prior and everything was working well and no issues. several days ago she contacted me about water so I asked questions to trouble shoot what was going on and it sounded odd by her description but I gave the benefit of the doubt, as we went thru symptoms I investigated what was going on, First she said water was coming thru the floor which I said if that is the case you will need a deep saturation pump but when I looked into this there was no water coming thru slab. when I said everything is working and there was no problem She said " The pump and drains are working and we keep leaves and debris out to make sure everything is clear" After her admitting it was working her story changed and moved to the back yard, the bid I gave a few years ago came into light, she wanted me to do that work for free since we had performed the work years prior, I said to her that doing landscaping and hardscaping was not in the bid almost 5 years ago and that she had the bid I gave her 2 years ago for the landscaping and hardscaping work! She made it very clear to me stating that she would post a bad review unless I done the work for free and she would make it clear to others as well! I asked why would you do this when you stated yourself everything is working and you posted you was very happy with the work done? In her own words she said "because I feel like owe me since we made a investment in the last project" again I said to her I cannot do this large project for free because this is a landscaping project and not a foundation project, then my question to her was why did you ask me to bid on this work 2 years ago and you said you would have to wait until you had a budget, then saying you would post a negative review if I would not do work for free? she said she felt like I owed her a free project? when I started asking question she calls me being defensive and I was asking questions to figure out what was going on! when I asked a question she would get mad and defensive because her claims did not fit what she was claiming. I was nice and professional! in a nutshell she is mad at me because I would not do a landscaping hardscaping project for free and when I found out the system was working and she admitted it and she was mad at me Because I would not do a project for free, This is a bad way to treat a service provider and wrong! Angie's list customers i welcome them to read this review then Read all the other reviews in A category and it will show what she is saying is nowhere close how I do projects and handle things. serious customers will see thru her review! as bad of things she said about me I hold no ill will and I wish her all the best and I hope she changes her ways with working with service providers. Update: After I wrote this response I reached out to her to try to work out a solution, again if I done the landscaping/hardscaping work she would remove review, I done everything I could do but she would not work with us

I hired David to fix the sagging master bath for a real estate client. Previous contractor had not taken the weight of all the tile in the new master bath so center beam had split. David had to hand dig for new and larger footers and put in new center support. Everything went very smoothly. Cleanup was excellent. David is really good about emailing about the progress and attaching photos when helpful. I will definitely recommend him to my clients and use him at my house.

What can I say? This is the 3rd project David has done for me. The 2nd project was this past October (2018). I had a flood in my basement because of a pipe burst back in July. I also had years and years of water seepage in my basement that caused mold that is dangerous to one's health. I had a well known local large company that takes care of flood issues and also mold treatment come to my home. I had them come several times, including one time with my insurance adjuster. Over the several times they came, there was inconsistency in their information, especially on a price point and included services. Due to their inconsistency, I began to distrust them. They finally sent me a quote for only the water removal they had done as an emergency and for what they call a flood cut of the sheet rock, removal of "wet" insulation and moving hot water heater and toilet/small vanity. It was much more than I expected. They had a charge for even moving my belongings in the basement. While David was at the house for the drainage system he put in my yard, I asked him to look over my needs in the basement. Once I received the quote from this well known, large local company, i sent it over to David who said he would match their price but would also do the mold removal and repair of the sheet rock for that same price. I was amazed that David would do the work at a price that was half, if not more of what the large company would have charged for the same work. David said he and his dad could have the project completed in a week. Very timely, responsive, professional and sociable. I highly recommend David for any project needs that he might be able to do for you at a very reasonable price.

David did work for me about 4 years ago and he was the first person I thought of to do my project of a drainage system to prevent further water seepage into my basement. Like before, he came to assess the situation and offered his advice for what he would recommend. He also gave a price for the project on the spot. His price was amazing! David and his dad arrived as promised and were able to complete the job in one day. The drainage system he installed has made at this time a complete 360 degree turn on the seepage problem I was having in the basement. I can't express my appreciation enough to David and his dad. Again, I highly recommend him for your project needs. Please don't hesitate to have him work for you!!

Wow! David and his dad, Joe, just finished the project today. They did a fantastic job of installing a new treated wood retaining wall on our slope, about 50 feet in length. The original wood wall was failing, and David and his dad installed a treated wood wall that also incorporated a concrete reinforced buttress system that should last at least 30 years. They also reinforced a portion of our long driveway that was pinching in due to erosion. David and Joe worked together as a team and got the job done in a few days around our fickle wet weather. The job site was clean and David was very responsive with email communication. There was one extra gutter drainage pipe added during the job. They also hauled away all debris and kept the jobsite looking great. I would call David in for any work related to grading, excavation and construction. . . he is multi-talented. Thank you, Guys!

David Gibson is a true professional. We had to have our driveway regraded due to the fact the last vendor really messed it up and we needed help. After meeting with several vendors, David took the time to really explain how this was going to work and what was needed to accomplish the job well. Other quotes were for a single stone to be placed down and compressed -- David far surpassed these previous temporary fixes by methodically placing various stones including railroad ballast as layers to achieve a smoother, more weather efficient solution, cleared out the troubled areas and regraded the road to achieve maximum water runoff. This guy absolutely knows what he is doing and a complete pleasure to work with on any project from start to finish. Literally, the best vendor we used since building our house from the ground up. We cannot say enough good things about David Gibson as a vendor and a person, he is A+++!

Several years ago, I noticed water in my crawl space and because of their "outstanding" reviews, I hired David Gibson (Gibson's Grading and Construction). David performed a very thorough and well documented inspection of my home and yard area. Due to the high moisture content - He found mold in the crawl space under my house and sun room. Not only did David do an "outstanding" job of "eliminating ALL mold from the crawl space areas) -- just as important -- he fixed the "source" for the high build up of water (moisture) in the crawl spaces and adjacent yard area. To eliminate the "source" of the problem, David installed a "Top of the Line" Lawn Drainage System. (note: before David's fix - I frequently had a small pond created in my back yard -- after heavy - extended rain. But now, after David installed the "yard drainage system" -- Problem Resolved! ) Please understand - the "excessive" water in the back yard -- was the "cause" for the water within the two crawl space areas (and the subsequent 'growth' of Mold). ** Bottom line: David Gibson -- made my home 100 % mold Free AND made absolutely sure that my home would REMAIN 100% Mold Free. I must also mention ( and this is HUGE) , the "long standing" build up of water ( about 8-10 inches) in the crawl space under the main part of my Very Large ( 4200 sq. feet Home) -- caused damage to the home's Primary Load Bearing Wall. David was able to completely REBUILD the Load Bearing Wall -- to NEW Condition. (David is a man with a number of amazing talents) Now -- "several years after" David finished his work at my home -- I contacted David once again and requested a thorough inspection of my home. I wanted to be absolutely sure that my home was still 100% Mold Free and Not Susceptible AT ALL to the re-infestation of mold. In short, I wanted to make sure that David's FIX (solution) was still doing the job. After calling David -- he came out the very next day and completed a detailed inspection and "testing" of my entire property. I was so very pleased to find that both crawl space areas were still mold free and Most Importantly (as a result of the "outstanding" work that David Gibson had done several years earlier) --- the moisture levels averaged 20% in both crawl space areas which is 10% "below" what is typically considered the normal and acceptable levels. ( i.e. for mold growth you need 60%) ** And get this -- when I asked David to send me a bill for his services (thinking that $100 would be reasonable), he told me No Charge. This goes to show you that Gibson's Grading and Construction not only provides "outstanding" Top-Shelf work, but they back their work up with Exceptional Customer Service.

We recently hired David Gibson to install a rock wall, drainage system and gravel parking area. The wall was on a steep slope in front of our home and the intent was to keep our mountainside abode secure. It was difficult to explain what we wanted, but somehow David understood and gave us exactly what we were thinking of. The wall is beautiful. David is a true artisan. He did all the work himself, with only his father for assistance. He is kind, hardworking and honest (and also an interesting person). We hired David based on stellar reviews and were not disappointed. We would not hesitate to hire him again or to recommend him to anyone.

Great. The deck is very well built-- nice, sturdy and very attractive. Having David identify the cause and then repair the foundation issues is a huge relief. David takes great pride in his work.
Description of Work: Deck built around an existing workshop/storage building. Foundation work: Poured concrete underfooting to reinforce footer of house where settling had occurred. Filled cracks to reinforce cinder block basement foundation wall. Installed a support beam to help distribute load of support beam resting on the cracked wall.

Unbelievable! Better than I ever imagined. The stones are huge and gorgeous. They will stay put forever. The slope and the angle of the location for the stairs was awkward, so David had to adjust a bit and created a lovely curve to the stone steps. Everything was so well thought out. Where there were gaps in my explanation of my vision, David asked all the right questions to be sure the end product was what I wanted. His engineering savvy is admirable. We've always had an issue with water run off toward the house -- David engineered the entire project to re-direct water away from the house. He even volunteered to regrade an old road bed next to the house to redirect water away from the house. We can tell a big difference when it rains. David was very flexible and easy to work with. We felt that David approached the work on our property as we would if it were his own. He takes great pride in his work, and it shows.
Description of Work: Grading of an awkward slope in the yard. Stonework: Two old, ugly retaining walls, steps and a brick sidewalk removed and replaced with a stone sidewalk, steps and walls. Two small retaining walls installed -- one to create a stone paved terrace off the back of the house and the other to create a level landing for easier access under the deck. Also, driveway edges lined with large stones.

The project went very well. David Gibson came out to the house for an initial visit, and took the necessary time to thoroughly assess and review the problem, so that he could fix it right for us the first time. It is apparent that he takes great pride in his work, and puts a lot of thought into the project. You get the feeling that he approaches each and every situation the same way that he would as if it were his own family. From day one, I had confidence in his his integrity, his experience level, his work ethic, and his professional expertise. In addition, both David and his dad are very personable and unpretentious individuals, and I enjoyed my interactions with them. I would definitely hire him again, and I would also recommend his services to others. I really appreciated his willingness to explain all of the details of the project, and his patience with all of my questions. It was very evident to me that David is a true perfectionist, who strives for excellence with even the smallest of details, and that he takes a great deal of satisfaction in resolving complex issues for people, and he also takes the trust that is placed in him very seriously. I can see why Gibson Grading and Construction has been a past Super Service Award winner.
Description of Work: We had water intrusion into our basement during heavy rains so we needed to have a drain system installed

There was water coming under their deck and going in their basement, I did not want to take up their deck so I crawled under their deck and hand dug and installed drain system, space was limited but it was worth it not taking up their nice deck. thank you for letting us work on your project and look forward to the next project

Excellent Quality. Professional Demeanor. Works and Acts with Integrity. I cannot say enough good things about David and the quality of work he did. Our new retaining wall not only looks good but it could support a house twice the size of ours. He also stopped an erosion issue we had that threatened the integrity of our driveway structure, and it looks great too. David not only does great work but he is pleasant, responsive, and kept me informed through every step of the process. I never had to wonder where he was, what he was doing, or how he was doing it! He gets my highest recommendation and I look forward to future projects with him and his company.

He came out on Monday and reshaped the drive, including a ditch. He then came out on Wednesday, installed binder, and laid road bond. Very responsive and listened to my needs and wants.
Description of Work: We had a near impassable gravel drive. We paid another not-so-friendly company last year who did a mediocre job.
