What an amazing transformation! Our steep, washed out, narrow driveway was starting to look like a mini Grand Canyon. David broadened, reshaped, graded and angled it so that we have a wide, smooth “highway” that should divert rain water to the side. He is very professional, articulate, knowledgeable and on time- we got a swift consultation that clearly explained what was necessary for a successful project, and he showed up when he said he would. My brother and I reached out to David Gibson of Gibson Grading & Construction to discuss a basement water issue we have been having in our mom & dad's home. I received a prompt response from David, and quickly set up an appointment. After David came and viewed our situation, he quickly responded with a very fair quote and scheduled the service within a week. David and his father did an awesome job. They addressed all our concerns, gave great advice, were friendly, and made sure everything was clean when they finised. We asked David to help us determine if we had a water problem in our basement. We live in a 100+ year old house that has a history of water damage and disruption in a French drain system. Before investing in thousands of dollars of work that David’s company could have benefitted from, we wanted an expert opinion. David has an engineering background and lots of experience with foundations, water control solutions, and crawlspaces/basements. He did a thorough inspection, reassured us that there was no problem, answered a lot of questions, and pointed out a few additional things we could do to further protect our home from water. None of which resulted in business for him. He spent 45 mins with us. He’s down to earth, practical, knowledgeable, and ethical. A great combination in a contractor!

Working with David was such a pleasure! He is extremely knowledgable, and when I came to him asking about foundation repair for our new house, he did a great job determining the scope of work from just a few pictures, and explaining to me the engineering behind it. He and his dad worked quickly and efficiently, and totally revamped our space in two weeks. He was respectful of our space while working around the home while we were at work, and communicated daily with a report of what he had done. He ended up fixing a few extra things that we didn't even know about and totally leveled and redid our driveway as an add on. Overall, David is professional, kind, and great at what he does. I would hire him again in a heartbeat, and have already recommended him to a few of my friends. Would highly suggest hiring David for your next project!

Dave came out to look at the property and the problems and I could see the thinking wheels in his head starting to roll with possibilities. He had evolving ideas that ended up taking care of both the engineering needs of the settling house and the aesthetic needs of its owners. He solved the problem with both lumber and stone as well as his handy Bobcat and amiable Dad. . . Dave is a "rock whisperer" and knows just how to place stone to suit the right spot; not only creating a strong retaining wall, planter base and stairway upward but making it a functional rock sculpture the envy of any mountain side. As the repairs to the foundation and stairway upward looked so amazing it was impossible to allow him to stop work there-we then added walkway and step to the side door, a backyard retaining wall and planter, rework of our driveway and parking area and a resloping of an impossible to walk up hill rise. Dave is reliable, fun and a pleasure to work with and we recommend his services wholehardedly.

This is the 3rd year David has worked on the driveway and each year he has done fantastic work and improvements far beyond our expectations. We are very happy with the work and reasonable prices. He maintains the long and steep gravel driveway, adding gravel as necessary, cuts back and removes trees and mows the sides. He always keeps us informed when weather stops work, and he always keeps to his schedule completing the work on time. This is the second time I've called on David for this mode of service. On both occasions I've been extremely pleased with the results. One exceptional difference between David and other companies is that unlike many others that I called, he showed up when he said he would and did tbe work promptly. I had many graders that never answered or called back, some that said they were coming and never showed up and one that came out,, gave me a quote and then disappeared. David is a diamond in the rough. He is a no nonsense, honest, old school hard worker who is also personable and friendly. You may search, but I seriously doubt you will find another grader of his caliber.

It was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a contractor. David is clearly an expert at what he does, and in addition he is great at communicating. The project was at a commercial building in Asheville, and I live in Chicago - but this experience was MUCH easier than working with a contractor at home. He always responded to emails or calls promptly, and sent me photos of progress almost daily. It's also important to add that David's budget was accurate, and he stuck to it, even doing more work than planned for the same price. I highly recommend David Gibson.

without hesitation, we can say that this was the most stress free construction project we have experienced. The communications from David were daily, if not two and three times a day letting us know how things were going and to discuss Boulder placement and gravel. We had a few surprises in the deconstruction phase and David used that to our advantage even though it changed the game plan. He did not mind one bit and saw all the new advantages that could be gained. I will hire him again for the next phase because I know the stone work will be awesome. I wish he were the general contractor for the entire remodeling of our new home.

I was extremely happy with the work that was done. David gave us a fair estimate and stuck to the price quoted. He started the job exactly when he said he would and finished ahead of schedule. His initial diagnosis of the problem was a huge help to us in handling the due diligence during escrow on our home and saved us a lot of money because of what he found. We had serious drainage problems in our yard upon purchasing a new home and they needed to be fixed before we had excessive rainfall. His work was put through the test recently and we could see how well the new system was working. David also fixed some potential moisture and mold issues inside our home. I feel like we got a new start and we can feel confident that our home will not have any further problems.

I have used David Gibson on a number of jobs over the years. On each of the numerous projects for myself and our community at large ( I am the president of a Home Owner's Association), David's work has always been "outstanding". Fantastic, done in the time frame quoted. Cost was as quoted. David Gibson is professional and kind. He works efficiently and keeps a very clean work area. He kept my pet in mind and was certain she never escaped (which she is an escape artist). David kept me posted throughout the day with updates on his progress leveling the floors. Since his work is complete I am thrilled with the improvement to my 1927 bungalow. It is solid, I can walk through rooms and the furniture no longer shakes. I used to know when the school bus drove by because my house would shake, but that no longer happens. I was shocked when I saw the bus pass but the house was quiet and still. Thank you David, my basement and foundation are secure.

Our 1921 house has a rock foundation with a parged veneer. Some of the parging has cracked over the years, which isn’t unusual or concerning. But 2–3 years ago we noticed the entire veneer over the chimney stack was bowing and beginning to crumble. Very concerning. At first it appeared impossible to get on David Gibson’s schedule for an inspection but AL reviews convinced me he was who we needed. I told him we there was no great hurry and to get back if he had an opening. Luckily we heard back in a month. Once here, it didn’t take long for David to spot the problem. He suspected the base of our chimney stack was pushing slightly inward causing the parging to pull away. Confirmation was outside where David pointed to a nearly undetectable horizontal crack from one side of the chimney to the other. The angle of the gap indicated the base was settling inward. A lot of folks have looked at our problem and suggested everything from water seepage to total foundation failure. But Gibson pinpointed the root issue. David’s solution was to fortify the chimney foundation by building a concrete block superstructure around the interior side and marrying it to the existing rock foundation by drilling-in rebar and fusing the gaps with mortar. It’s impressive. A solid mass likely be standing after everything else has crumbled to dust! David also repaired an area of parging pulling away from an exterior corner and another on an interior wall. He confirmed both were simply surface issues. As everyone else in the reviews states, David is a wonderful person with which to work. He does what he says he’ll do, when he says he’ll do it, for the price he tells you. Communication is excellent. Interaction is entirely pleasant. David Gibson is exceptionally smart, polite, and careful. For sure, we’d rather spend $7,500 on something more fun than a concrete wall, but the piece of mind that comes from knowing it was spent on an expertly considered and executed solution is a comfort.

David did just excellent work! He is extremely experienced and knowledgeable. He analyzed my house's issues in a way that made good sense to me and without my feeling that he was attempting to sell me more than was needed. He's personable and easy to work with. The best!

David Gibson was extremely professional. Came out to inspect the job and discussed the scope of work along with an estimate of cost. He arrived on time each day And because he owns all of his own equipment he completed the weeklong job within the time He specified. His knowledge, education and experience in the construction and grading industry was paramount in resolving our issues. We would most definitely use David Gibson for any grading, Gravel, road bond, etc. That we need done in the future and highly recommend his expertise and professionalism.

David was incredibly prompt, responsive and professional. My wife and I were struggling with our driveway and David has us completely taken care of within a week. Graded, been gravel, and flattened down and now we can safely get up and down our driveway. Couldn’t recommend David enough.

From the start, David obviously knew what he was doing. He installed drains to remove excess water from our yard and direct it away from the house, installed pop-up water dispersers, tied in HVAC discharge lines, and other misc. This is the third time David has worked on the driveway and he did a fantastic job, not only with the maintenance, he also cleared high grass blocking views, low limbs hitting the cars and high limbs overhanging the utility lines. All the work was done at very reasonable price. We highly recommend David and will not use anyone else for our driveway.

This was the fourth job we had David do for us. He’s super easy to work with and has the ability to envision what it is we wanted accomplished. He graded the entire (small) backyard, installed a foundation drain and paved the area with granite slabs. His work is always above standard. I love the way the yard looks now and it’s much more usable. Integrity, honesty and fairness are the reasons we hire David time and again.

I had such a mess! The first time my finished basement flooded it came in the door. The next TWO times it came in the back wall at the ground level--after I had the huge pool filled in. David designed a solution for the side yard that included diverting the water down the driveway and into the street drain. He did a gravel-filled drain across the end of the drive. He was going to do a driveway channel drain and grate across the drive in front of the garage and exterior door but found there was a sewage pipe there, so he designed another gravel drain there. The backyard got multiple drains at different levels down the length of the yard. As soon as that was complete, the side of the house, which was ALWAYS wet, dried out completely! David is so professional. He explains his plans in depth so you know what's going to happen. He put down grass seed and straw, moved and then replanted plants, and had to dispose of huge pieces of cement that came out of the yard where the pool was. I can't say how pleased I am to have my house safeguarded. David is the real deal.
