Once again, David was kind, professional, worked hard to diagnose and fix my problems, and went above and beyond so I won't have to worry about drainage issues again from my gutters or along my foundation. He had noticed on a previous job that my support beam wasn't adequate and I had not realized the dip in the floor until he pointed it out between my master bedroom and bath. My home inspector had noted the floor joist covered too large a span when I bought my house 2 years ago and had approved another contractor's support pier. Unfortunately, that was not doing the job 2 years later. David was able to raise the floor 3 inches without cracking the bathroom tile or wall so that the floor was completely level, changed the beam with a new one to adequately support the weight of the floor and bathroom appliances/pocket doors, and built 3 piers that support the weight well. Everything is now level and flush. He excavated along the side of the house by hand so as to not disturb my holly bushes and was able to replace a slightly leaking gutter drainage tube. He suspects the greater part of the problem on the side of the house is the way the stairs and sidewalk were added so that water goes under the footer toward the house. After sealing with waterproofing paint and concrete, he flooded that sidewalk with water to compare to the heavy rain that we had last weekend and didn't see a drop of water in the crawl. While he still has concern about the outdoor structure (and I can't do anything about that at this time), I feel sure that he has done everything that can be done to keep my crawl dry in the future and his thorough testing showed no water penetration. He spent the first day diagnosing the problem and planning his work to be sure all my drainage issues were taken care of. When he excavated at the front of the house, he discovered the front gutter lines were not installed correctly and even the electrical ground was not attached properly which he fixed! He put in the drains correctly, cleaned my front yard drain so it works now, and added another french drain so that my garage drain will not be overwhelmed in heavy rain (he also corrected some cracks in that drain) and front gutter drainage will be directed away from the house on the right. David spent 4 days working at my home, left everything tidy, and I don't expect to have any more issues with water. He also put in new front gutter shields for me at no cost and walked my roof and told me my roof has a good 10 years on it, so not to worry about saving for a new roof right away. I am grateful for his good work, kindness, and keeping the price as reasonable as he could for me. He is incredibly responsive to e-mails and willing to chat nightly about the progress of the work so homeowners fully understand how things are going. He also recommended a dehumidifier so the earth floor (covered with a water vapor barrier) will stay dry when the water table is high. I hope I don't need his services again in a long, long time, but I will recommend David and am glad he was able to do this work for me. David came back to fix 2 of my drainage lines that a bear unfortunately tore up this fall. He did a nice job with the repair and verified one other area of damage was a non-functional line. He charged me a reasonable rate of $100 to fix the 20' or so of both lines.
Description of Work: David came back to fix a structural beam in my crawl and raise the floor which was sagging (3"!), diagnose my "water in the crawl" problem and replace the rest of my gutter lines along with adding another french drain, and applying waterproofing paint and concrete to seal at my shallow footer in the crawl.

The beam under the bedroom and bathroom was not working good causing to sag 3 inches, i jacked up to level and custom built beam and piers to fix this. Next on outside installed new gutter lines and french drain in front plus made other repairs to divert water away from foundation. i also noticed that her gutter guards in front section was not good so i replaced them at no charge. I enjoy working with (deleted member name) on her house, she made sure i had access and the areas needed so i could fix these issues. Thank you for letting me work on your project, i look forward to working with you on other projects

David and his Father did exactly what they said they were going to do and More. I would with out a question Hire them again! They are honest and hard workers. By the way I was not home at the time the work was done.
Description of Work: I called David Gibson and left him a message. I received an email and a phone call back from David, David came out to my house and gave me an estimate right there on the spot for Re-Doing my Driveway in Road bond and Gravel. My driveway was in bad shape and steep at the top. David suggested several options on the way the driveway should be done. I also asked him if it was his driveway how would you do it. After talking to David and hearing his advice I hired his Company to do the Job. I hired David because he was looking out for what was best for me, not was best for him or the easiest. David and his Father would shave the top of the driveway and replace the gravel with road bond at the top and gravel for the rest of the drive way, Part of the job was also to extend my drive way by 15x34.

The project turned out really nice and will late a long time. Thank you for letting us fix your driveway

Dave is very professional and careful. He spent quite a bit of time figuring out where the leak in our basement was coming from and explained what he wad doing and why. He installed clean out valves on our new drain lines to help prevent future clogs and back ups into the basement. We were quite happy with the quality of the work he did.
Description of Work: Replaced drain lines regraded around foundation, sealed cracks in basement installed french drain, re-routed badly installed drain line, sealed basement wall.

The foundation leak they was having was odd, it took me longer to pin point causes. luckly they was minor and did not progress worse.I started out first in basement selad the seams and sealed block on back part of wall. on the outside all gutter drians was not working so we replaced gutter lines and installed a catch basin near porch. i backfilled dirt under deck and installed foundation drain behind heat pumps then filled in with gravel. The project went well and (Member name removed) and her husband was very nice and easy to work with, she even made me iced coffee when i was working which was very nice! Thank you for letting me fix your basement leak.

he has a very step bank that was so close to his house he could not access it very well, there was just enough room to walk. we had planned to grade out and install a rock formation. however upon further review of job i informed bud that we can use timbers and i could give him more room to be able to reach his septic area.He agreed, i took my small dozer with trackhoe and excavated out area. which weather was not very good, it would rain, then snow. After rough excavation i tested area by driving my truck and small dump truck to ensure he had enough room. I built wall out of timbers, then sloped bank then once done i spread gravel beside house and up against wall. Bud was a pleasure to work with and was very patient especially with the rain delays and snow delays.I really appreciate bud allowing me to help him with his project, The project took me longer than planed this had to do with the crazy weather we have been having. i look forward to working with him in future on other projects

I chose David due to his years of experience, knowledge of drainage and septic systems, and civil engineering degree. He was very kind (including to my pets), accommodating to my wish for a written contract, and not only corrected my surface problem but also likely headed off a future septic disaster as my gutter drainage was not moving through my old drainage tubing but rather into my leech field (the tubing underground had holes throughout, just as he suspected when he provided my estimate). I was very nervous as a new homeowner and new to septic systems to have anyone disturb the septic field. I was very grateful after he excavated and laid new drainage piping (twice the thickness of my old piping) that he was able to tell me my system was in excellent condition and should last decades. He did a nice job covering the new piping with soil and hay and my yard now looks much better. He also provided me measurements on a drawing detailing exactly where my new drainage tubing lies in relationship to my current septic and reserve field. The pictures he sent to me of the work done and his detailed explanation of how the job went also was very helpful to me. I now better understand water drainage, septic systems, and I am much more at ease about my new home/yard. His cost was very reasonable and he did some sealing at my crawl door and side drainage tube for no extra cost. I am most grateful for his expertise and the work he did to ensure my peace of mind. I was also so appreciative that David was willing to work around my work hours, was so responsive to my e-mails, and took so much time with me so that I would feel comfortable with him as a professional and the work to be done. He will be fixing the drainage tubing at the front and sides of the house as the recent rain indicates I'm having similar problems with my 15 year old drainage tubing there.
Description of Work: David removed by broken gutter drainage piping from alongside my septic leech field, excavating as necessary, and dug new underground trenches, laying better grade new piping to carry water from my house gutters into the woods. The new piping is a good distance from my leech field sides and doesn't lie on the field reserve either.

her gutter drains was in bad shape and leaking water into her septic field, i showed her that this would cause a major issue if not resolved, plus she had 1 line going directly over septic field that needed to be relocated. I took 1 day and installed 3 new gutter lines and directed them away from septic field. I enjoyed working with her and i look forward to working with her on other projects.

I called David Gibson and left a message for a call back. David called me back within hours on the same day. I described the work I needed and David said he would come to my house the following day. At exactly the time he said he would be at my house, David arrived to look over the job site -- a private road requiring grading and gravel. David explained exactly what he could do; he provided me options and explained the pros and cons of each. We decided on an option and David gave me an exact quote. We scheduled a day for the work to begin. David said the only thing that would delay the start was heavy rain or snow. On the scheduled start date, the weather happened to be fairly miserable with a mix of light rain/snow and windy cold -- not a great day at all to be outside. Nonetheless, on the scheduled start date, David and his father showed up with equipment and material. Two days later, they had completed the job exactly how and when he said he would do it. We are very pleased with the results. And to top things off, David had noticed we had some low spots in the parking area of our driveway so on the last day of the job, his father brought in some extra gravel at no charge and spread it in the parking area. Talk about service! From start to finish, David was extremely professional, polite, hard working and honest. As I said, we could not be happier with the results. On a personal level, David is very personable and I enjoyed talking with him. I enjoyed talking with his Dad too! Thank you both for your great work.
Description of Work: The work involved grading and placing gravel on a private road on our property.

When i met with marc we looked over his driveway he was wanting to repair, the road was in pretty good shape but it needed to be redone, there was several areas that was soft and needed to be built back up. marc was wanting it to look good, so i gave him a option of road bond or 1 1/4 washstone. Normally on that type of slope is use road bond but i told him that he could use 1 /1/4 washstone so it would look good and last a long time marc agreed to price and washstone. before we started hauling i let marc know i could not bring larger or heavy truck up the community road because it would damage and ruin the road because of the heavy load and truck weight, so we used my single axle truck and dump trailer to haul gravel in. Running smaller loads and smaller truck and dump trailer took a day longer than normal but it did not damage road. marc said that was ok. The weather was not good first day but we lucked out because it was not bad enough to stop us from working. Everything went well, marc had a parking area that was thin and i went ahead and hauled in a few tons to fix that even thou it was not in deal i felt like the area needed and it was no trouble at all to fix that area for marc. i apperciate marc letting me and my dad fix his driveway, we both enjoyed talking with him and fixing his driveway

It was a very positive experience. David is knowledgeable, competent, efficient and thorough. He was concerned with my opinion and wanted to be sure things were done to my satisfaction - and his. He hauled away the mud and gravel mixture he had to remove and left the site in perfect order. I could not be more pleased with the outcome and am very glad I hired him. He absolutely will be on my list of contractors to call for further needs.
Description of Work: I have a gravel parking area that was in need of new gravel. In addition, a drunk driver plowed up one end of it, dragging mud with him. David responded immediately to my email and came out to give a bid within a few days. The following week, he arrived on Monday to do the job, which was completed in one day. While he was here, I mentioned that I'd had water in my finished basement several times during the last 13 years - twice during the month of January. When I showed him the exterior location, he immediately pointed out a gutter on my porch and said he was fairly sure that was causing the problem. He then looked again at the parking area and said it could be draining into the same spot. He recommended a French drain across part of the parking lot and a drain attached to the gutter, burying it in the yard, taking it under a fence and attaching it to the French drain. Because he hadn't begun grading the driveway, the additional cost for the drains was extremely low. He installed the drains, regraded areas of the parking lot, brought in loads of gravel and smoothed everything out, including the dirt over the gutter drain through the yard. It's a very professional job.

Member's driveway was in need to be regravled, and the drunk driver made it worse, i meet with her to look over the project, she told me about her basment with a leak, i did notice 2 areas that was pooling water. she had a exposed gutter drain that during rain would pool water in front, and in her driveway near front gate the grade was not deflecting water away. due to grade i could not get good fall so i recomended a french drain and install a gutter line in front. in her driveway we spread 3/4 washstone and installed the drains. i am glad she is happy with the results. She was lucky her house was not hit by the drunk driver. the section of road she lives on people drive crazy, i was almost rear ended 2 times in my dumptruck when i was pulling in her driveway hauling gravel. i enjoyed working with her and i look forward to working with her infuture

(Work to begin in March 2013.) 9/15/13 Work is now to begin in October 2013. Was delayed due to rain. We'll give an update after work is performed. NOTE: The above "Approximate date of service" 9/12/2013 is actually the "last contact" - No service has been done to date.
Description of Work: 2/20/13 (today) Work has not yet begun - but will be in March. 1/28/13 Contacted Mr. Gibson. 1/30/13 Mr. Gibson came to review our water issues. 2/1/13 We received Mr. Gibson's estimate of $8300 Less: $800 (Angie's List discount) = $7500. We contacted Mr. Gibson and asked him to do the following work for us, which will be done in March consisting of 5 areas to stop our water issues from runoff: 1) foundation french drains (involving removing our back wood porch to access a section to be worked on; 2) gutter drain lines: excavation and installation of 4" pipes; 3) grading; 4) seal seam inside garage/lower level of home; and 5) install roof shield to divert water. This is just a brief outline . The work he will perform is quite extensive. Mr. Gibson informs us that he is committed to other jobs at the moment, and backed up due to the 4 days of rain we've been experiencing. He is scheduled to perform our work sometime in March 2013. We are very confident that we have chosen "the" man to perform this work to stop the water issues we are experiencing and look forward to working with Mr. Gibson soon. His caring and professionalism have secured our opinions, along with his prompt attention in coming to our home and presenting an estimate. 9/12/13 David contacted us to say he plans to begin our work in October.

when i meet with them i did notice several areas around house that was causing the issues. The plan i have in place will fix the issues and reduce moisture content in basement. when i reviewed the project i did notice the issues they have could be very costly. The plan i came up with made the project more affordable but fixes the issues and will be a lasting fix. orginally when i was reviewing fix for the issues,i was figuring about $12000-$13000 but i knew this would be a burden so refigured job and the methods i would apply and i was able to reduce excavation area impact, labor and a more effective solution. i look forward to getting started, i hope we have a break in rain, it seems to rain every day or so.

David was very responsive after my initial inquiry, offering to come out for a site visit the next day after we spoke. He explained why the current materials were not working, that the condition would deteriorate over time and offered his solution. I received an estimate from him that same day. The work got started a bit later than we'd originally planned due to heavy rain, but it was not a big deal since David kept me updated on the conditions and when he anticipated the ground would dry out enough to work. The work was performed in the original time he estimated and David was kind enough to work with us on the pricing despite having to bring in additional loads of road bond. I live in Charlotte full time and could not be on site during the work, but David was very proactive with the communications, sending me updates along with photos when the job was finished. We are very pleased with the outcome and would definitely use David again!
Description of Work: Our steep mud/gravel driveway had become a mess after the recent heavy rains and contractors driving 2 wheel drive vehicles up and down did not help the situation. David scraped the driveway (approximately 2/10 of a mile), removed all of the mud and soft areas, pitched the driveway to shed water towards the culverts, spread road bond and cleaned out the culverts to ensure water would flow freely.

Her drive was in bad shape, especially with all this rain we have been having. The drive was very step and orginally had washstone which was wrong application for the driveway. i went in and graded off the mud and made sure the road was crowned so water would flow to ditch instead of road. i hauled in road bond and spread and compacted. i did haul in a few extra loads because there was one area had got worse, but i did not charge extra because i knew she was on a budget and i wanted to make sure this was a lasting fix . i look forward to working with her in future, i plan to do maintenance 1-2 times a year on her driveway to make sure it last.

Yet again, we are very pleased with David Gibson's work. He removed our old deck and constructed us a new, larger deck and staircase. The new deck is very well built and looks great. Again, we are very pleased with David's professionalism and the quality of his work.

Very easy to work with and gave a competitive price. Grading was necessary due to poor home construction and years of neglect. Several proposals were offered for remedy but David's was the least intrusive to the condo owners. System is now working to shunt rainwater away from homes.

when i looked at the issue they was having the drainage was very poor! Plus the gutter drians was clogged and non functioning.there was a rock wall in back, which made project difficult because i needed to take grade down without undermining wall. so i came up with a solution to grade and install catch basins in critical areas to catch watershed and divert away. i wanted to make sure to keep noise down as well not to interfer with people living in condos so i brought in smaller equipment and i kept working hours between 10am-5pm. Everybody was nice and gave me time to complete the project and gave me room that i needed during the process. I really apperciate them allowing us to help them with their project. I look forward to working with them on other projects they have.

Based on his excellent rating on Angie's List, I called David and received a prompt response, scheduling a time to meet at the house to review what I wanted done so that he could give us an estimate. I had an estimate from David within two days, and once approved, he was able to schedule the job within two weeks ( especially reasonable due to weather delays). David started promptly on the day promised and had the entire job completed within three days. With my added request for the bush hogging work, David promised to come out either that Friday or Saturday, and did come out that Friday to do the bus hogging .
Description of Work: David dug out and replaced a non functioning culvert replacing it with a larger triple walled culvert. He subsequently thoroughly scraped our gravel driveway of 28 years and spread road bond on the entire driveway while we had asked only on the thin spots- he did this at no extra charge from the quoted price and smoothed and graveled the upper parking area. I was so impressed with the precision of his work that I added a request for bus hogging a hillside above the driveway which he did for a very reasonable $200.00 extra.

I apperciate the Customer letting us help him with his project! His drive had washed out areas and area's that was thin, plus he needed a heavy duty culvert. First i installed a triple wall culvert that had a smooth bore because he has alot of trees and debris that builds quickly plus the heavy constrcution of culvert will be long lasting and easy to maintain. I regraded drive so that water will go into ditchline as well shed off road to control erosion and maintain road bed for years to come! Even thou i did bid to regravel thin areas on road, i felt that for the long haul he needed more of a base, so i went ahead and added extra roadbond at no charge because i wanted his investment to be lasting and trouble free! I look forward to working on other projects with him in the spring, I enjoyed working with Paul! Thank you for letting us be of service

I would strongly urge anyone considering hiring David Gibson to proceed with great caution. Not only was his work for me totally unacceptable, but I have found his subsequent behavior to be extremely unprofessional and dishonest ? as have the writers of two other recent Angie?s List reviews (on March 12 and July 17, 2012). So mine is the third complaint about David in the past year, which would seem to indicate a very disturbing pattern of behavior on his part. Within two days of his resurfacing, and partially re-paving, my driveway in mid October 2012, a repair which David assured me would last ten years, the driveway started cracking and coming apart. In fact, it is now in worse shape than before his work, to the extent that chunks of asphalt were dislodged recently just by the use of a blower to clear leaves. Since completing the work, David has refused both to consider any refund of my money and to accept any responsibility for the driveway?s present condition. He claims he did the work correctly, and that the driveway?s break-up was caused by some still undefined ?movement? beneath its surface. To support this claim, he said he: Contacted the manufacturer of the resurfacing product he used explaining what he had done, and sent me a copy of the company?s email response saying David had used the product properly and the driveway?s ?movement? was the culprit. When I subsequently contacted the manufacturer, I learned the product David claimed to have used is not made by that company! Described his work to three ?engineers? (allegedly paying hundreds of dollars for their consulting time), and also sent me copies of their email responses - which once again absolved him of any blame. When I attempted to contact these people using the address of each on the email ?reports? David sent to me, all three emails bounced back because the addresses were not valid! For these reasons, and because the ?style? of the emails is very similar to David?s own unique way of writing, I believe it is clear that David himself composed all four emails. When I have subsequently asked him, on numerous occasions, for the manufacturer?s and engineers? correct contact information so that I can question them about their conclusions, he has always ignored my requests. David has threatened legal action should I post any negative comments about his work and behavior on Angie?s List, which I have told him would be an honest and accurate assessment of his performance. Furthermore, and perhaps more curiously, David has also threatened legal action against a friend who, after seeing David?s name on Angie?s List, recommended him to me. Clearly, I have not been?nor will I be?intimidated by this bluster. UPDATE: I have become accustomed to David?s total disregard for the truth, and certainly his reply continues in that same vein. I shall therefore address the numerous falsehoods contained in David?s response although, before doing so, I should again point out that my sentiments are clearly shared by others, as mine is the third complaint about David on Angie?s List this year. Others have also reported his failure to take responsibility, lying, threats and fabricating or tampering with emails. First, I did indeed tell David I wanted a 5-10 year repair, for which I would pay him $3,500. Rather than lasting years, the driveway started to crack and come apart after two days, not in the ?small section? he alleges but across the entire driveway, especially the bottom half. Despite this, David has refused both to refund my money and to accept any responsibility for his inferior work. He has claimed from the outset that the present disastrous condition of my driveway is the result of some undefined ?movement? under its surface, although I see from his response that he has now added ?extreme moisture? as another excuse. With regard to David?s claim that he contacted the manufacturer of the resurfacing product he used, when I subsequently did the same I learned (and I have a letter to prove this) that the product David claimed to have used is not made by that company, nor do they use the vendor code that he provided. David has yet to explain, after repeated requests, why a company that does not manufacture a product would send him an email saying he had applied it properly! David?s other line of defense, reports from three ?engineering companies? he claims he contacted, is yet another fabrication. Contrary to David?s assertion, I did attempt to contact them (on more than one occasion) using the email addresses provided by him ? and all three were invalid addresses, causing my emails to bounce back. I have repeatedly asked David for correct contact information for these ?engineers?, but he has always ignored my requests. If these reports were genuine, I am sure David would be eager to provide accurate contact information so that I could verify their conclusions: instead, he has persisted in inventing excuses for his shoddy work. (Incidentally, David had the gall to send me a $2,000 bill for these phony ?engineering reports?.) All four of the above emails (one from the ?manufacturer?, three from the ?engineers?) were written in exactly the same style (very much like David?s own) and contained the same words/phraseology, which indicates to me that David wrote all of them himself. Since David was out of telephone contact immediately after completing work on my driveway, all of my subsequent communication with him has been via email. I therefore have written confirmation to support all of my assertions, which I will share with relevant parties at the appropriate time. It?s completely false for David to claim that I threatened to discredit his company if he did not refund my $3,500 and repair the driveway for free. My one and only demand has been for the refund of my money since David has obviously not fulfilled his part of the agreement between us (i.e. to provide a driveway that would last 5-10 years). Furthermore, David?s claim that there was a heavy truck on the surface before the cure date is another lie ? this did not happen ? and is just another attempt on his part to escape responsibility for his poor quality work. David?s claim regarding having a contractor friend from whom I attempted to ?get work done for nothing? is absolute nonsense. This is yet another blatant lie on his part, and I challenge David to provide the friend?s name to support this spurious allegation. As David?s deceptions became increasingly clear to me, and he became aware that I was embarking on the course of action I had informed him I would take if he did not refund my $3,500 (Angie?s List, Better Business Bureau, legal proceedings), David moved from addressing the driveway issues to making outrageous statements about me personally, my motives for taking these actions, and making totally uninformed statements about legal actions he would take because of my pending negative reviews. I have written proof in David?s emails to support everything that I have said about him. I challenge him to provide similar substantiation for any of the lies and misstatements he has attributed to me ? which he can?t, since he doesn?t have any. Rather, he continues to reference the phony ?engineers? reports? and make disparaging remarks about me. Here are just some examples in direct quotes from his emails (using his exact words and punctuation!). (On 11/20 ? written to a friend of mine who obtained David?s name from Angie?s List and whom David has also threatened to sue.) i am not very happy with you because you referred me Steve. he is a real son of a bitch! ? If he pursues his course of action i will take legal action against him! Plus since you was aware of his behavior and actions prior to recommending me to him i will also file legal action against you for damages accrued because of you being involved and you knowing that he was like this! (On 11/21, to me): i promise you this, i will not tolerate any body that try's to purposely damage my company's reputation! so in your best interest in solving your driveway issues and saving you major headaches and saving you thousands in legal fees and the damages you will owe me . On 12/28 David invented his most offensive lie yet when, included in an email to the Angie?s List mediator, he made the following disgusting statement. steve has e mailed threats as well as racist remarks, therefore it would be best if he does not try to contact me any further! I will not tolerate threats and racist remarks against me or my crew members! Finally, it is ludicrous for David to think that his suggestion to ?go by engineers submittal of solution? constitutes a counter offer. There were no engineers - the ?reports? are fabrications written by David himself. He seems to hope, as he invents one new falsehood after another, that something will finally stick. It won?t. My bottom line ? not only was David Gibson?s work totally unacceptable, but he has used lies and threats in an attempt to avoid taking any responsibility for what he did?buyer beware! UPDATE: I took David Gibson to Small Claims Court and won a judgment against him on April 8th for the full refund of my money, which I believe validates everything I have asserted about the poor quality of his work and his subsequent outrageous and evasive behavior.

He contacted me to fix a driveway problem he was having. I met him and gave him two bids. The first bid was for removal and repaving. The second was refurbish and repair. I recommended he go with the tear-out and repave, but since he wants to sell his house within 4-5 years. He wanted a refurbish, which I stated that it would only last five years and then the drive would have to be tore out and completely redone. He gave me the go ahead. After completed, he paid $3500.00 and I told him about a small section that was really bad wet and it could be an issue. I also instructed him to give it 1 week before driving and do not drive heave trucks on the surface. Some time went by he called me about that small section. He said that it was cracking, so he sent me photos. I reviewed it and told him I will get to the bottom of it. I sent information to the manufacturer of the products I used and sent information to 3 engineering groups. All reports came back that the product was good and that application was correct. I sent this to him with contact information and my vendor #! The recommendation was to remove the small section and lay new asphalt. They found the base had moved too much as a result of extreme moisture, causing a sponge effect. He did not like the results so he wanted us to build him a new drive. So, I gave him a price. Then, after that, he started down the path of trying to cause issues. He wanted me to give him a new driveway plus pay him cash. I told him that I would install a new drive for material cost because I felt bad for him, but I was not paying any cash. Then it got worse. He stated that he would do anything he could to discredit my company. He would even join Angie’s List and give us a bad review. He wanted $3500.00 cash and for us to give him a new driveway for free. If I did this he would not discredit my company or join Angie’s List to purposely discredit my company. I said no and he need to focus on the engineers recommendations. After that I made several efforts to remedy this, but he would not listen unless I paid him cash and gave him a new driveway. I contacted the manufacturing company and the engineers I hired and the member did not contact them nor did he make any effort. However in one picture he sent and time picture was took I could tell he had a heavy truck on the surface before the cure date, which would void the warranty. I want to make one point clear to the members who read this. Before I took this job, I had another contractor friend of mine that knows the member, tell me that he would hire a contractor and set them up, so that he could get work done for nothing. I ignored this and told him I do not focus on rumors, but I focus on each individual person. So I accepted the job knowing he could cause an issue. My philosophy is that I give people a chance just like people give me a chance and allow me to do my trade for a living. So I gave him a chance because I felt he deserved a chance. Even though he is trying to hurt my company I will focus on positive members and meeting their goals. I have done everything I can do, but it is up to him. If he is serious then go by the engineers recommendation. If he wants to try to be destructive then he will continue down the path he is going. I will continue to provide top notch service and high quality. This will not detour our positive outcomes. I will continue to do my best and provide the best my company can offer. My counter offer would be to go by engineers submittal of solution. Second remove these untrue statements and focus on the recommendations of engineers.

After prolonged, heavy rains, we have water in our basement. Ultimately, we didn't use David Gibson to solve our problem but I wanted to post a review. After interviewing four other contractors, we picked David's company. He was very responsive to our two meeting requests. The plan was to start the project on 10/2012 but he was delayed due to weather on another project. Weather forced another delay. A family emergency in Texas caused several other delays and we decided to postpone the project. From our limited knowledge of contruction, we felt the proposed solution offered by David Gibson was sound and would have solved our problems but we elected to not go with his company due to the delays.

i was looking forward to working on this project for Customer, when i was getting ready to start his project my family member fell gravely ill and i had to postpone.i was gone for weeks until my family member passed on and i had to stay awhile longer to handle family property as well as help my other family members. The member was on a time frame with his basement, which i understand. He did postpone project which is understanable! when he gets ready to work on his basement I plan to give him a 10% discount because he had to postpone because i had to leave.

We recently hired David to do some driveway grading for us and he did such a professional job we decided to hire him to build a fence for us too. He built us a 4.5 ft. wooden picket fence with 3 gates that turned out beautifully! Again, he was on time and finished the job quickly. We are very happy with the completed project, as are our renters. David's work for us has been prompt, professional, and priced fairly. He is easy to communicate with, and with his expertise, he has great ideas/suggestions to offer. We will definitely be hiring him again in the future (a new deck may be our next project) and are happy to give him an excellent recommendation to others! Thanks again David!

They needed a fence built for dogs that worked well and looked good and worked within budget. I looked into several fences including chain link and the fencing was expensive. So to work withing there budget i decided to built a nice picket fence that was strong but functional and fell within budget. I am happy that they liked the fence and it worked out well. I look forward to our next project building them a new deck. I appericiate letting us build this fence for you.

My gravel driveway was damaged from rainwater drain off. I hadn't replaced the gravel in many years and in some parts that weren't used as much, it was hard to tell where the driveway ended and the lawn started! David made great suggestions to keep down the cost of materials as well as to make the driveway last longer. He arrived when he said he would and worked quickly and diligently.
Description of Work: David extended/enlarged my gravel driveway and laid new gravel. I would definitely use him again. His quote matched what I paid, he was very professional and reliable; showed up when he said he would and got the job done in time. He even saved a shrub that I was willing to give up as well as a compost bin that I had all but abandoned, but I can now re-use! My driveway looks great and I feel it will hold up for a good many years. I feel the price was fair, my driveway is quite long. David offered helpful advice and suggestions for the upkeep. I will recommend him to my friends and neighbors.

Description of Work: We just recently had David grade our upper and lower drive. We were having a wash problem with all the rain and really needed a new ditching system. David was prompt and professional. He visited the site and gave his suggestions and opinions. He is a very knowledgeable guy and we pleased with his suggestions to fix the problem and with his estimate. He graded both the upper and lower drive and created a ditch for the water to be averted away from the house and the drive. He arrived on time, completed the job in a timely manner, sowed grass seed where needed, and left the place clean. Best of all he seems to have fixed the problem! We've had a little rain since, and all seems to be well. The next big rain will be the big test! We were so pleased with his professionalism and ability we have requested estimates on some fencing and decking we also need. Looking forward to using David again in the near future and would definitely recommend him to others.

Our home inspection report on the home we were purchasing revealed that there was a significant problem with dampness/mold in the basement. This was very bad news because we have a family member with asthma who is sensitive to mold, and we had made a good offer on this home based upon the large unfinished basement we planned to add rooms in to expand our living space for our family. We received estimates/solutions from several companies and two companies claimed we had a "very serious problem with water filling up in the block" requiring that expensive drainage systems be installed (i.e. floor dug up--questionable damage to foundation? One company with open drains...water getting clogged and sitting behind "covers" and stagnating?!) around the perimeter of the basement floor with additional pumps, etc. By the time we would pay for one of these systems, we would not have had enough money to make the other required repairs needed to secure our loan. Another important point : neither company mentioned or addressed the stopped up and crushed gutter drain lines that were buried in the ground directing water from the roof against the foundation/basement walls of the house. Some companies claimed water was seeping through the basement floor while another claimed it was through cracks- neither of which turned out to be true. (Our house was on the top of a hill out in the open sunshine, and yet these companies were still saying our walls were full of water. Be aware that people will try and sell you anything---get lots of opinions and do your own research first!) David Gibson has a degree in Civil Engineering, has common sense, and knows what he is doing. Right away he suspected a problem with our gutters. He was the only one to walk around the house and locate points of soggy, saturated soil that indicated poor drainage. He determined there was NOT water in our basement block because he could tell that the white efflorescence residue had occurred over time because cement block can slowly absorb dampness from the dirt.. If there had been water trapped in the block, he said we would have seen more severe evidence of the later stages/darker and varying color of the mold, dripping walls, etc.and then a more extensive drainage system would have made more sense. David has had years of experience fixing wet basements, even completely lifting houses up to repair foundations. His much more reasonable solution was to install new gutter drain pipes from the roof and re-route the water away from the house and to install a foundation drain on the outside of the house. He then cleaned and treated the basement walls against mold. He applied several coats of Thoroseal (actually absorbs into the porous block and fills in any gaps/holes creating a waterproof barrier) and Dry Lock to waterproof the block against moisture. He suggested we get a 70 pint de-humidifier to help reduce the condensation resulting from the well pumps located in one corner of our basement. David also completed all of the minor repairs on the house, put installation in the basement ceiling, and did masonry work on the chimney that was required by our lender to approve the loan, all for a price we could afford. We felt that David was correct about the solution for our basement, and by getting to the source of our problem, he saved us from expensive systems that probably would not have kept the dampness and mold out of our basement because those companies would have left the crushed and clogged drains pouring water into the soil around our basement walls and would not have solved the slow absorption of moisture into the block. It has been about a month since his work was completed and even with several hard rains, our basement has been bone dry! We highly recommend David Gibson of Gibson Construction and Grading, and are pleased with the quality of his work and his work ethics. His more economical and correct solution "saved the day" for us much like finding a doctor who finally can diagnose and explain the source of the problems then apply the correct solutions.

Member called me about this house they was going to purchase! They showed me the inspection report. They also informed me about the asthma. They talked to other contractors before the called me. The contractors they talked to did mislead them on the condition of foundation and even one of them said it was the worst case they heve ever seen. The other contractors prescribed a overkill and work that did not need to be done, plus saying the concrete block was full of water I think Member was expecting 20k-30k in repairs. I was expecting the worse when i met them, but when i looked over foundation and condition of house it was in excellent condition, it did have mold plus moisture was too high. We removed mold, fixed all moisture problems, installed drains.Plus i used products that works well with anybody that has asthma. they really wanted this house, and i wanted to make sure they had no issues especially with mold and mositure. I am really happy that everything is going well and they are enjoying the house. i think the most puzzling this about this project was the fact of how many contractors was telling them how bad it was and the prescribing work that did not need to be done. I am i was able to help them as well as save them alot of money. thank you
