Be new to home construction, the overall experience was good. The house looked great. There was a wall that was a foot short. Another wall that was a few inches off in the kitchen. It wasn't until we were in the house for a while that we started finding problems. I found a problem in the A/C Heating system. I had mice coming into the house through the ducting. I was told I didn't know what I was talking about. The ducting was new and it was done correctly. I couldn't get anyone to inspect it. Years later a repairman informed my husband, that he found ducting laying on the gound under the house and holes in parts of the ducting large enough to put his fist through. The exterior doors leaked. I told the contractor. He said it wasn't the door, but, the dog door we put into the wall by the back door. When we had the water damage fixed. We found out the the door frame was to large for the door. the door was held into place by the interior and exterior trim only and had not been sealed. We later found out from two neighbors that they had the same problems with their doors too. Window framing was not plum and we had to have the windows worked on in order to get them to open and close on high humidity days. The house was larger that contracted. This through off the measurements one the fireplace. It wasn't centered between the two windows. He was putting his building crew together after restarting his business. If you are going to have work done by this contractor, have a home inspection done several times during construction. There are a lot of worse contractors out there. Yet again, there are better ones too. Also, make sure that your spouce is on the correct page and not agreeing with the contractor. If you contract to have kitchen cabinets all the way to the celling, make sure they are that way.
