Description of Work: Came out prior to the service date to take measurements and specs for broken window. Once the replacement was in the called to schedule replacement. Tech's were on time, very polite and replaced the pane in about 30 minutes. Price was about $50 less than other competitors.

I turned to Alamance Glass to complete our open shower. We have a four foot high knee wall and they installed a 3ft. x 4ft. rain glass window on top of the knee wall. I called them on a Monday they came out that Thursday and did their measurements and a little over a week later they were there putting it in. It looks FANTASTIC! We will be calling them back in a month to install glass shelves over our fireplace.
Description of Work: Alamance Glass put a window in on top of our knee wall in our shower.

Alamance Glass was recommended to me by DeBoer and Gabriel builders who use them as a subcontractor for the houses they build and manage. Alamance had actually done a small repair job for me at my previous residence which I was leasing from DeBoer and Gabriel. Also, in asking my neighbors for recommendations, Alamance Glass popped up almost every time. Scheduled a site visit and estimate back in mid-April. Mentioned that there was no hurry and I needed to clear brush and bushes around the greeenhouse that we wanted gone and would give the crew better access to work, as well as to order some other materials for installation specific to greenhouses that they did not carry. Got a very good estimate for the replacement of five 30and quot; X 50and quot; (and one larger irregular shaped piece) of tempered 1/8and quot; glass panels that included the materials and installation. After the other materials arrived and waiting for about 8 days of rain to quit, we scheduled a time for the repair. Two people from their industrial division showed up with all of the glass pre-cut and started the repairs. They were very polite and professional and had fun. Unlike some contractors, they listened to the client (me) about some specifics about the materials I ordered and how they were used. The repair went smoothly and quickly. They let us take photos so we could post them on locallygrownnews [dot] com, where we are documenting this project. You can see their work there if you type in and quot;greenhouse restorationand quot; in the site's search box. I was surprised that I wasn't asked to pay on site that day, but instead an invoice with 30-days net arrived the next week. Exactly as estimated. No surprises. Had I ordered the glass from the greenhouse supply company, their costs for glass and shipping alone would have exceeded the entire bill from Alamance by a couple hundred dollars and I would still need to pay for installation. The money saved will go to the next phase of restoration - electrical rewiring. I'll use them again and recommend them to anyone who asks.
Description of Work: Replaced broken glass in an old greenhouse in our backyard that we are beginning to restore.

We were very pleased with this company. We were having some work done on our new house and I mentioned to tanother installer that I needed a shower door. He gave me a referral for this company and had them call me. They came the same day to measure and we ordered a door from them. It was much higher quality for the same amount of money that we had paid for a door from a home improvement store for our other bathroom. We were sorry we didn't know about them first. A week later, our new door was installed and we are very pleased!

Not good. See above.
Description of Work: Several years ago I remember contacting this company to repair auto glass. I ended up talking with somebody in the shop, and he struck me as arrogant and boorish, as if he were doing me a favor to give me a price on the job. I ended up having the job done at Safelite for half the cost. However, if the place hadn't irritated me so much I might just have had the job done without even checking elsewhere. It was during the 2008 election season, and I did not appreciate having to run a gauntlet through all their political posters and signs to get into the place. (I take strong exception to their political choices.) Then I sort of forgot about all that and needed some glass repair done again recently. This time it wasn't a very expensive job so i had them do it and it turned out all right. But again, now it's the 2012 election season, and again they put you through all this political nonsense just to get into the place -- complete with posters, signs, and even hand-outs right there where you can't miss it next to the credit card machine. Is that any way to run a business? I think they're a bunch of idiots. They can believe whatever they want to politically, but I object to being subjected to that in a place of business. And you'd think they'd realize that roughly half the population disagrees with them politically. Needless to say, next time I'll remember this and drive whatever distance I have to in order to get glass work done.
