Woke up on Saturday morning, no hot water. Great! Found After 5 Plumbing on Angie's List and made the call. Dave called back within an hour and arranged to have a technician visit. Clay showed up within an hour and found the problem right away. I didn't need a new water heater after all, although it is 10 years old, just a couple of minor electrical parts. Clay had the parts on the truck and made the repair in a few minutes. Within 2-1/2 hours from discovering the problem, I had hot water again. On a Saturday! After 5 does not charge extra for nights or weekends. What a fantastic company! They are super-competent, professional and friendly. After 5 is in my contacts now. Why call anyone else?

I'd like to thank Mr. David Cook and his team, Drew and Clay, for their amazing customer service, experience and professionalism. I called After 5 Plumbing at 11:00 pm, Wednesday 12/28/16, and Mr. Cook, the owner, answered the phone! He recognized my sense of urgency and took the time to answer all my questions, scheduled a team to come out on Thursday to assess the situation and determine what I needed. They returned on Friday afternoon and installed a new (up to code) water heater. All of this was done going into the New Year weekend! Great job, great company. Also, thank you Angie' s List! Happy New Year to all.

Fantastic. They did not charge time and half or double-time as other plumbers that I contacted were charging for a Sunday repair.
Description of Work: I was the typical DIY homeowner who was going to replace a toilet. I needed to replace the supply valve to the toilet because it wasn't shutting all the way off. I didn't realize, because it was painted, that the valve was sweated on and I tried to unscrew it which twisted the copper pipe. After 5 responded quickly on a Sunday afternoon and fixed my mistake and replaced the value and then proceeded to install the toilet I had purchased all within an hour.

The 2 workers that did the work were great. They called while they were on their way, since I had to leave work to meet them there, and were quick and efficient upon arrival. One worker quickly unloaded and got the new unit set up while the other disconnected and drained the old unit. As they pulled the old unit out, they ran into a large issue with ants under the old water heater. I felt really bad that they encountered them (even getting on their hands and legs, but they handled it really well. The ants had eaten their way through the old hot water heater's exterior and into the insulation. They sprayed the ants, and laid down some 6 mil black plastic that I'd had out to cover the crawlspace dirt where the new unit was going. I'd gotten some concrete blocks and a plastic drip pan to provide some extra protection to the new unit that the guys did not mind working with and installing for me as well. Highly recommend! The scheduling was easy, the service professional and quality of the materials and install very high.
Description of Work: David's guys removed and installed a new 40 gallon lowboy hot water heater in my crawlspace a few days after an initial visit (to replace an exterior faucet) where a very affordable and reasonable estimate was provided for the water heater materials and labor ($650 was the estimate). The 22 year old water heater was original to my home, and it was not leaking (yet), but it was so badly rusted on the outside (in a damp crawlspace), that even I could tell that it was sure to go soon and wanted to have a professional price it out. Contacting David was easy. He picked up my first call directly. Since he was working a job a few hours away, but he took my details on my situation and location immediately. He asked me to text him my name and address after the call to confirm and that he'd have his guys out the same day to give an estimate on replacing my hot water heater. Texting back and forth was very easy to schedule two appointments and ask additional questions/follow-up. By the way, I had visited the local "big box" store who were both running at 10% off promotion for Labor Day... I didn't even price out having the big box contractors install because the total price after tax for a "name brand" almost would have exceeded what I got for a professional quality brand (Rheem), before install costs. I've also heard nightmare stories about big box contractors, from scheduling and pricing to quality of their work. After 5 Plumbing is the real deal!

Contacted After 5 based on very good Angie's List reviews. Company replaced my 18 year old water heater after it failed. PRICE - The price was very good. I got an estimate from one of the big box stores and the quote was over $350 higher. QUALITY - The higher price from the national "discount" store was for a Rheem water heater that was the same size but the valves were plastic instead of metal, the element was inferior, etc. In other words, the plumber offers a better built unit for less money. In addition, the plumber to be used from the big box store did not have as good a reputation. RESPONSIVENESS - Sunday evening call and a Tuesday afternoon install. Messages were answered, but usually with a delay. Did receive call from workers when they were on their way with a more definite arrival time. PUNCTUALITY - The arrival time kept getting pushed back but I was promised it would be installed on Tuesday and the work was completed just after four that afternoon. OTHER - Two workers arrived, worked together quickly and efficiently. Any questions I had were answered. The workers cleaned up after themselves and old heater and all packaging were hauled away or placed in Recycle Bin. The entire process from arrival to departure was just under an hour. Overall - Good price, good quality product with quality install. Would not hesitate to use the company again.

The work itself was done quickly and well; it addressed the problem and in ~3 days after the work I have yet to see any issues with it. Scheduling the work was slightly difficult. I am not sure if it was intentional, but my calls were never answered; instead I always had to leave a message and wait for a call back. Usually this only took a couple minutes, but at other times I had to wait several hours before hearing back. When the people came out to do the job they arrived about 30 minutes late, but I don't entirely blame them for that; as the GPS doesn't handle my street address very well. Still, they had my number and could have called for better directions if this was a problem. I don't know how much to expect to pay for such a task, but the work was done in less than 40 minutes and they charged me $30 for materials. With two people working and the cost of materials, the price doesn't seem excessive, depending on how far they had to travel.

We were successful in contacting the manufacturer and getting a replacement part. Since we couldn't replace the thermocoupler directly, we ordered the burner assembly. When it arrives, we'll be sure to call After 5 Plumbing to have him put it on.
Description of Work: We called After 5 to fix our water heater after positive reviews here on the site. David was prompt and professional. After trying for about half an hour, he informed us we needed a thermocoupler as we suspected, but it was physically impossible to remove the nut holding it on. He showed us a service number on the water heater, pointing out the approximate date of manufacture and that it was still under warranty. Best of all, he did not charge us for his service since he did not actually do anything.

I tried to get a few estimates. I first called (Willie Saul) never called me back and still has not called me back. I am not sure why because we know them from church and have used them in the past and they are really great people. In fact, they were the ones who installed the hot water heater we were replacing (13 years old which from what I hear is awesome life for a water heater). So I am not sure what happened there. I got an estimate from Mr. Rooter. They were punctual to respond, worked with my timetable and had a guy out to give an estimate within a couple of hours. But their price was nearly DOUBLE ($980) what I eventually paid with After 5. Mr. Rooter also said we could provide our own water heater and they would install it for $520 and warranty it for 180 days. Yokay. I then called MEGAplumbing who we have used in the past and loved. They no longer do residential. They referred me to After 5. I am SO glad they did. Mr. Cook called me back promptly. Gave me a rough estimate of between $550-650 over the phone to replace the water heater with one just like it but brand spanking new :-) I said YES! Please! :-) They were out within 2 hours to do the work. They came, got to work and had it all in and out within about an hour and a half. I had hot water right away! And ... the best part is - the cost was $600 ... not even the $650. He could have gone to the highest amount he quote but he didn't. I think that shows integrity. I am more than pleased with this company and will be calling them again for several other small jobs that we have been putting off. And if I ever need a big job taken care of I no longer need to call around. I have a new plumbing company. :-) I think you will feel the same if you give them a try.
Description of Work: Replaced our hot water heater.

Main sewer line for the house was backing up sewage into the basement. David and his helper arrived within an hour of the call. Clean and neat truck along with clean and neat plumbers. They immediately set up a power drain auger and started trying to dislodge the clog. After they extended the 100 ft of auger they had on the truck they called another truck to bring an additional 100 ft of auger. At around 140 ft of auger they found the stoppage. Cleaned out the drain line all the way to the main city line. They cleaned up and were gone with little trace they had been there. Of course the sewer water was not backing up into the basement any longer and things have been flowing well ever since. Thanks After 5. My father needed some help the following week and I recommended that he call them. He did and was pleased as well.
