On or about Janurary 2012 only 1 month aftering moving in I notice th floor statring to separate and buckling in the front corner of the office area and I started to walk around and outside of the door I notice the floor separating there too. I called the General Contractor Mr. Steve Thomas to have his floor guy come over and conduct repairs. They came over repaired the floor. Tony the floor guy remove the bases shoe molding and floor board. The problem with the job is that they replace the base board cracked in half the wood the laid was not stained and left without telling anyone that was home at the time. I had one certified flooring specialist and a home inspector come and evaulate the floor and there recommendation was total floor replacement. Bottom line been in the house for nine months and the wood floor has dried (shrank) and I have above average gaps on 80% of the floor. Steps of event: 1. Floor got wet during 2011 huricane 2. The wood floor was installed to earlier in construction process 3. The wood was never acclimated to the living conditions 4. The floor was installed wrong even if the above was followed. The floor guy start at one end of the house and work there way to the opposing wall creating the boards to have a bowed effected when looking down them. I have been trying to contact him since feb 2012 without luck until july 2012 when he recieved the inspection report. The builder is not replacing the floor but he has extend his hand to replace b the boards that need it. My question since the boards has shrank how are they going to match and how is the stain going to match the orignal stain. His my floor guy can make it right! It a easy fix. How can he say it is a easy fix when the builder has never came out to look at my floor. I am still battling this issue and my home warranty runs out Nov 2012. I will never refer this builder to anyone!
