EDMISTEN HEATING & COOLING

Edmisten installed a new system for me two seasons ago. I asked for the annual maintenance for both heating and cooling. The fall of 2020 I had to call and remind them and all I got was excuses. They finally came out to inspect the heating system and assured me that I was on the list and it would not happen again. This season the heat has been on since October (2021) and I emailed the Company in January (2022) because they never contacted me AGAIN. THE RESPONSE WAS we are putting you on the DO NOT WORK FOR LIST. How pitiful is that! Avoid this Company!

I hired Edmisten to install and obtain the permit for the HVAC system. Since I had a 544 square foot condo it was more complex because I didn’t want too powerful of a unit that would shut off too fast and leave to unit cool but humid. Kael from Edmisten researched and found the perfect system that would stay on long enough to cool and dehumidify the condo. His workers installed the unit without problem and they explained how to use the system. I would recommend Edmisten Heating and Cooling.

It took many service calls to get the dehumidifier to work properly. But Edmisten never hesitated to come back and were always proactive in trying to resolve the problem(s). Their HVAC work has been fine and their people a pleasure to interact with. We have no problem continuing to use them.

It was $80 for just coming when I told them I needed someone to come and add some Freon.I had everything besides the electronic scale. I told them please don't come without the electronic scale. If you come the electronic scale, you are coming for nothing. And that's what they did. They came without the electronic scale and they still charged me $80 for nothing. They called the next day when I left them a voicemail. They were almost on time.

Super! It was a very challenging installation, over 5 days, with tight crawl space and limited access points. The Edmisten team did a super job. Special thanks to David Shore for spec'ing, pricing and planning the job and to Gio and his team for the installation. Great guys and they have my highest recommendation. I will certainly use them for any future HVAC service needs.

We called the Sunday after Thanksgiving because our heater wasn't working (a new house we had just purchased) and didn't think we could last the weekend it was so cold. The technician, Daniel, (withholding his last name) called me promptly and was there in a hour to get the furnace working. The price was very fair for a Sunday. After speaking with him we decided to get a programmable thermostat installed. I called the office on Monday and made an appointment to get the thermostat installed. The office is very easy to deal with and Daniel came back at a time convenient to me a week later and put in my new thermostat. He explained how to work it and help me set it up so it can be controlled from my tablet. I love the thermostat and I love Edmisten Heating. I've hired a lot of HVAC companies in my time and they are definitely the best.

Edmisten employees responded in a timely matter to all contacts. I felt they listened well to our situation and came up with a decent plan to meet our specific needs without trying to sell us a system that we didn't want or need. Their workers arrived on time the day of furnace upgrade. They were professional and thorough in their work. They did a nice job of cleaning up afterwards. I would fully recommend them.

Due to faulty construction at the time our log cabin was built in 2007, we developed a mold problem throughout the house in summer/fall 2013. The mold made its way to our AC system and was throughout our original duct work. The entire HVAC had to be removed and replaced even though it was just a few years old. David and John were extremely professional and sympathetic throughout the entire process. Once the old duct work was removed by a handyman, Edmisten's came right out and got the new system put in immediately (even with bad weather!) so that we would be warm and toasty over a cold weekend. I gave them a "good" on the price, only because the entire mold remediation was so expensive. It was a painful "repair" that our homeowner's insurance did not cover...to the overall tune of over $20,000! Edmisten's was the only company I got a quote from because they were so prompt and accommodating. I really have no idea if $4600 was a good price, but under the circumstances, it seemed reasonable. Over a year later, we have had no issues whatsoever and we continue to use them annually for our yearly maintenance. We are very happy customers and highly recommend them!

The installation was perfect and price was mid range. Quite a bit lower than a competitor. A couple of issues came up in the following weeks but they were quick to respond and take care of the issues. Would recommend this company.

Edmisten was quick to sell us an expensive heat pump system that was supposed "to take care of us for years to come." The system has a two-year warranty. It works well most of the time, but we've had two problems: 1) They rushed the installation, some problem with not being able to find a certified electrician or something and the system's operation (or rather the operation of the electronic thermostat) was not well-explained, perhaps because the installer preferred to talk about how much he disliked President Obama--heat pump was installed the day after the 2012 election-- and the system was left on "emergency heat" for about a month, driving up our bill; eventually I figured that one out on my own, notified Edmisten, but didn't seek any reimbursement or anything, just ate the added expense and chalked it up as a lesson to pay attention and read the instructions instead of relying on the installer; 2) about a year later, we had an unpleasant musty odor when the heat pump went to the defrost cycle, something apparently known as "dirty sock syndrome." A few problems with the service for the second problem. First service call didn't fix it; tech tried to tell me the problem resulted from clogged filters, even though they had been changed just two weeks before. Had to call back when, of course, the smell returned. Maybe I caught them on a bad day or something. A couple of unpleasant phone calls with their customer service people and John Edmisten when I asked if they could possibly get out quicker since I'd already had to take one day off to accommodate a tech who arrived late and didn't do the job. Did eventually send out a knowledgeable friendly tech who immediately recognized the problem. Ordered and installed a new coil shortly after Thanksgiving. So far it's working fine. Got a nice email from John Edmisten apologizing for the situation, saying that they valued my business AND they didn't charge for labor which, as I understand it, they could have done under the terms of the warranty. I appreciate and respect that. Edmisten is like a lot of businesses in this area. They are locally-owned and pretty much have a captive market because there is so little competition. I'm not sure that they understand (and, in fairness, this may not be their fault) the sort of professionalism and business-like interaction one would find in a larger more competitive market. At any rate, they made the situation right; so far my unit is keeping the house warm--as I write this, it's well below zero--so I've revised my review and grade. Fair is fair.

The folks were knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. They explained exactly what was and was not included in their quote (for example, we had to pay an electrician separately for hooking up the new device). For necessary services which they did not perform, they recommended providers with which they had worked in the past and whose workmanship they could vouch for. We received quotes from multiple providers and theirs seemed to be the best overall value. The work was done promptly and correctly -- no need to call back to fix problems.

Installation went well. Took a few days longer than quoted. Had to call installation people back for whistling noise in system. It turned out they had to replace one of the two zone dampers which whistled when closed. This problem was probably caused by the lack of head room in basement for the new system which caused a lot of air pressure on the damper. They came back and fixed the problem. I have called them back on two other occasions for problems which they promptly fixed on their one year warranty. Overall the installation in our 80 year old home was a challenge but I am satisfied. The dual fuel system works well. Temperature stays right with the thermostats. I am changing out old windows to energy efficient ones and adding additional insulation which also has helped with comfort.
