carpet installation

I called the Carpet House for help and Jeff, the manager/owner recommended a man he uses for an install of my carpet. The mans name was Barry Houser and he is who I had the problems with, NOT Carpet House. He sprawled out on my stairs after putting in my new (and expensive...$18.00/yd) cream-colored carpet and was on his cell phone talking to his girlfriend and sweating. This happened many times through out the install. When he left, he took leftover carpet with him even though my son insisted many times that I wanted to keep them..(he told my son there was nothing I could do with these pieces, they're scrap, she doesn't want them, they're garbage!) (I had to leave before he was done). I couldn't close my bathroom door, my 2 1/2 yr. old grandson keeps cutting his feet on the metal strip at the end of my living room carpet because it keeps coming up, and the metal strip at my basement door keeps hanging off also! There is a big wrinkle of carpet at the base of my stairs in front of my bathroom door too. My husband had to SHAVE our bathroom door in order for it to close because Houser installed the carpet wrong and used the wrong metal strip. And Mr. Houser had the nerve to tell my son I OWED him more money for the 'extra' metal strips he had to use!! HA!!! We had agreed on a price before he came over and he was told of the EXACT measurements and openings. I've tried NUMEROUS times to call him, only reaching him the first time but since then he has not answered his phone for my call. One day, months later, I called him from my 'cell' and obviously caught him off guard because he answered it and when I told him of all the problems, he said he would be out the next day! I never saw him again. Now he won't answer for either of my phones. I've even called Jeff (owner of Carpet House) and asked him to have Barry call me and he never called. I've seen this man in Walmart numerous times, and he takes off quickly! I didn't trust him from the beginning because he kept telling me I don't need to be there when he's working and that that's how all the 'other' customers do it, they let him go into their house when they're not home. I wouldn't trust this man as far as I can throw him....and as far as I know, he STILL does installs for Carpet House, so please be careful!! UPDATE: On April 8, 2013 Barry Houser just showed up at my house to fix all the 'problems'!! He said he was passing by on his way to somewhere and thought he would stop in and fix the carpet. WOW, ALMOST a year later!! Well, anyway, I showed him everything that was wrong and although he had his own 'explanations' for why they were like that, he fixed them. According to him, my bird cage was in the bathroom so he couldn't check to see if the door closed properly. It's on WHEELS, AND we were right there if he needed us to move it, but he NEVER asked. The metal strip that he had in two pieces, right where we walk on it and kept tearing up our feet, I can't remember if he had a reason for putting the seam right in the middle of the walkway instead of under the couch, but it's fixed now. He said something about us putting in flooring later so we said it was OK??!!! I don't THINK so!! My grandson's little feet got sliced up from walking over that piece all the time, even though we tried everything we could to fix it. We ended up putting a large piece of tape over it...how attractive. My husband fixed the one dangling on the basement stairs. All in all, Never, never again would I let this man do ANY KIND of work for me. SAD.
Description of Work: Mr. Houser, as a side job, installed my living room carpet, up my stairs and on the upper landing. I have a split-level home.
