About us

GreyBeard Realty, formed in 1999, began as a rental management company but quickly shifted to include sales. Today sales make up 75% of the company’s business. Why is it called GreyBeard Realty? Although we are a real estate company we wanted to anchor our name to our beautiful surroundings. Greybeard Mountain is the largest of the Seven Sisters (Middle Mountains), which is the closest range to Black Mountain and Montreat. Greybeard Mountain got its name from the old timers who thought the ice-covered trees on its ridges looked like an elderly man’s flowing grey beard.

Rosie Johnson of Greybeard Realty was wonderful! She was thorough, patient and caring. She took us to see many properties and really listened to what we wanted. After finding a property that we wanted to purchase, she was with us every step of the way--never pressuring us, always sensitve to what was best for us. We love our new vacation house and we love the fact that Rosie Johnson is now considered a friend!

We used Rosie Johnson. She was very easy to talk to, she was efficient. When we went back to Florida she sent us a lot of listings. When we came back into town she always made herself available. She was very patient, caring, not just trying to make a sale. When we found a house she was totally helpful with us being out of town to make things go smoothly. I can not say enough good about her. I would use her again in a heartbeat.

Description of Work: We used Grey Beard Realty for two services: several times we rented homes from them in the mountains of western North Carolina and they were so good and responsive that when we needed to rent our own home as a vacation rental, we chose them. We had our home listed with them for several years and they were always responsive, helpful, friendly, and professional. We even ended up using one of their agents to buy our home! We highly recommend them!

Scott Russell of Greybeard Realty has been a great help in finding and purchasing property. He is knowledgeable about areas, properties and contracts. He is excellent to work with and I would use his services again.

They were excellent. They have been doing our rentals. I will leave again and so, they were down for short term rentals. They charged me 20% of the rentals. They were superb.
