Well-Loved Piano

He spent considerable amount of time making sure everything sounded beautiful. I probably won't use them again because the regular price of a tuning is too expensive.

After fighting through traffic jam, Tim Barnes got to work on my piano, which had experienced two moves in the past year. It had not been tuned for 1 1/2 years. He explained the state of my piano and made recommendations on the proper care. He then spent a couple hours tuning it. He was competent, efficient and professional. I would recommend Tim and Barnes Piano.

I have used Tim several times and will continue to use him in the future. He is always very professional and courteous. He calls when he is on the way from his previous job so I know exactly when to expect him. I am very comfortable with him in my home. However, I was disappointed that Angie's List (not Tim) ran an offer for Tim's company right after I purchased mine and it was for about half the price that I had paid. That is very frustrating.

My husband and I just retired to South Carolina. After moving several times throughout his career to several different areas of the country and always on the search for a quality tuner for my piano, I happened to get an email from Angie's List with a discounted piano tuning the same week we moved to the Charlotte area, hopefully moving for the last time. After researching the provider online and reading the reviews on Angie's List, I decided to purchase the tuning for the discounted price of $49. My first impression seeing a price so low for a piano tuning was that it couldn't be a very experienced or qualified tuner but the reviews were great. Tim Barnes lived up to his online reputation. I received a phone reminder the day preceding and Timothy Barnes called just prior to arrival. This was my first experience with such a young man as tuner but he is not only excellent at what he does but was also tech savvy enough to send follow-up information via email. Much appreciated in today's world for me. His first questions were regarding my piano's age (54 years) and previous tunings (annual). Timothy seems to love all pianos and if your piano is as important to you as mine is to me, I highly recommend you give Barnes Piano your business. Tim was also confident enough in his own abilities to comment on the fine work that had been done to my piano in the past - some strings replaced back in the 1970s. Also, as another convenience, I am able to set up an annual reminder for tuning.

The provider turned up on time. He was very good at explaining everything he saw as he tuned the piano. He was very knowledgeable about our antique baby grande and explained what we would need to have fixed depending on what our future use of the piano will be. He was great and I will call again when we decide.

He spends a good deal of time testing to see where and if the pitch has slipped. It's all done electronically now-- no more tuning forks.And then tunes individual strings as needed to place the pitch where it needs to be. Every so often he actually plays music to see how it would sound as an instrument, not just isolated strings.

He would have done a great job if it hadn't turned out the piano was broken and would not hold a tune.

He was on time, congenial and an all around nice person to have in my home. I will use him again.

It went well. The owner came out and spent a couple hours tuning it for us.

It turned out very well although it was very expensive. It was more expensive than I had hoped but I believe the service was very good and I was pleased with the result. I was very satisfied with the service.

Overall it went well. Took about 4 hours to tune the piano. I thought that was a little bit long. It plays well.

Tim called at the appointed time to let us know he was running 15 min. behind. (It was an 8am appointment, so rush hour traffic was an issue...and always unpredictable.) He came in, went right to work and did an analysis of our piano. Having not been tuned in recent years and just having been moved, our piano required a little more than tuning which he recommended. However, he did not insist that we do anything additional...just suggested it. We paid $99 for the Coupon for tuning ($230 value) and then an additional $85 for the other needed service. We feel like it was a real bargain for quality service. We would definitely use Barnes Piano again in the future. Our piano sounds great!!

Everything went smoothly. Courteous, professional and knowledgeable.

Mr. Barnes arrived promptly and was very professional during the whole appointment. After examining the piano he told me that it was in very poor condition with many issues and that, since it was a low-end piano when it was purchased, he would not recommend putting the money into it that would take to bring it up to speed. He prepared estimates for needed repairs - basic, intermediate, and complete packages - so we could see what he was talking about. After listening to Mr. Barnes's advice, we decided not have the piano tuned, but instead to start saving for a newer, better-quality piano in the next year or so. Once we purchase one, more than likely we will be calling on Mr. Barnes to perform piano maintenance services to keep our it in top shape. Mr. Barnes was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He provided an education on the anatomy of the piano and even information on how to develop skills in playing the piano -- and above all, he was honest. He could have just tuned the piano as it was and collected his pay or tried to push us into repairing it so he could make more money, but he told us our money would be better invested in purchasing a newer piano. Tim was thorough and very professional - will use him again

Tim Barnes spent 4 hours tuning my piano. My son is interested in doing this for a career. Tim explained what he was doing. My piano has never sounded better!

Tuning was excellent! Tim was prompt, friendly, exceptionally knowledgeable & thorough. He took time to answer my questions & gave me detailed info about the tuning process & the overall “health” of my piano. Made recommendations regarding the physical environment (humidity & placement away from the return air duct side of the room), as well as recommended cleaning for the excessive amount of dust bunnies that had accumulated on the sound board & in unseen parts (under keyboard, etc.). Have used 2 other piano tuners in the past, but those could not compare. Will be calling again to schedule piano cleaning with them, and future tunings. Highly recommend this company!

He was excellent. He was very knowledgeable. He took the piano apart and cleaned it all out. He did a very good job.

Tim has been tuning our pianos since he started his company. His work is fabulous. He is always conscientious, ontime and cleans up after himself. Tim is trustworthy and honest. Tim excels at explaining what he did to the piano and why in non-technical terms so I can understand. He is also very good at knowing the unique quirks of each instrument. We trust him so much that we are not afraid to leave while he is working on the piano. Tim is everything you would want in a worker: knowledgeable, polite, fair-priced, you absolutely get what you are paying for with him. The assistants are friendly, engaging, and very well organized. They do a great job of being flexible when we have had to reschedule appointments in the past. They are always able to make things work. We would highly recommend Barnes Piano.

As always, everything went very well. Tim has been servicing our piano for a number of years. He is a very professional and skilled technician and is always willing to patiently answer questions. I have always been extremely pleased with the services provided.

We had recently moved and had the piano in storage. We will definitely use him again.

It went great! He called when he was running a bit late which I appreciated. He did work on this for quite a while. Everything has been working fine since. The only issue I had was that he did charge me an additional fee, which I felt mislead about the deal amount and what it covered.

Did a good job but of course charged more but it needed what was recommended
