Well-Loved Piano

This is the 3rd time we have used Tim to tune the piano. He is always very professional and when he is running late he calls to let me know.

The work went very well. The owner of the company came and did the work. We were pleased with the service.

Everything went well. Took about 2 hours tuning my baby grand. I am very happy with the results.

.Tim came highly reviewed on Angie's list and I was thrilled to find a Big Deal for piano tuning. There was a bit of a delay in the correspondence by email to set up the appointment, but we were able to set up a date for the service. While I could not redeem the big deal by the expiration date, Tim still honored the price. He was punctual and courteous upon his arrival, and explained the services to me after inquiring about the history of my piano. He spent several hours tuning my piano, as it was both flat and sharp in some places. I did have to pay more than the big deal price due to the degree of pitch difference he had to correct. However, my piano had been though 2 moves, so this was expected. Tim recommended some additional services based on his observation and inspection of my piano. He provided a price list which explains the purpose of such additional services. I would highly recommend Tim as a piano tuner for a piano in any condition. He is extremely talented, and is a beautiful pianist himself!

During his visit which took about 2 hours to accomplish BOTH adjustments to the piano, we had a discussion about HUMIDITY in the house which he said greatly impacted pianos. Ideal level being about 42% relative humidity. We have had an older model dehumidifier for many years (dial set control 1-9) which would remove 2-3 gallons per week. Because of the age of this unit we bought a new digital DeLonghi unit about a year ago which continuously monitors the humidity level and controls + or -5% around a set point. Since buying it, I have been using a 50% RH set point removing 8-10 gallons of water a week & sometimes 2.5 gallons a day when it is raining daily. I have lowered the set point to 45% (40%-50% control range) since his visit. Mr. Barnes was very professional and gave us insights for better care of the piano which was built in 1959. We plan to monitor the condition of the piano during the coming year and plan to have a retune after a year to see how much change has occurred. I do expect some change because of the lower humidity and because SO MUCH had to be done on this visit. Interesting to note that Tim seemed to do the job swiftly and with ease in 2 hours. The tuning a few years ago was done by another person who DID NOT mention pitch adjustment to us and struggled with the piano for about 4 hours before declaring the job done. We will definitely be using Barnes Piano to care for our piano in the coming years.

Tim arrived on time and provided a highly professional level of service. Our piano was badly out of tune, so it required a pitch adjustment in addition to fine tuning. Tim explained the whole process and then spent almost 3 hours tuning.

I have an old piano (studio grand ) that has a lot of sentimental value. It still is a playable instrument even though it has been moved several times over the past 30 years. It needed a lot of work. I have never had anyone look at this piano who was as well versed in the make, ( it is a Brewster circa 1920 or before) and who knew as much about pianos as Tim Barnes. He also had a wonderful grasp of what this piano means to me and my family and was very truthful about what we could expect from any work he would do. Tm Barnes cares, and he knows his pianos! I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is prompt, polite, extraordinarily honest, and easy to work with. I intend to have more work done on my piano by Tim, and hope he has many more appreciative customers like me.

We did end up having to pay more than what they said the price was because we hadn't tuned our piano very recently. So that was kind of disappointing but other than that it was fine. The additional cost was $65. They just seemed like a normal company, they seemed to be on top of things, they were nice to work with and seemed organized. They do a good job as far as I know and I would recommend them.

Barnes Piano is a wonderful service provider. From scheduling the appointment to the actual service, my experience was what I wish I could find with all service providers. My first and only phone call to Barnes was promptly answered by a polite person who quickly scheduled my appointment. An email appointment confirmation was sent and an email reminder for the appointment was sent. I have an older baby grand piano that Tim tuned. In addition to tuning the instrument, Tim later did research regarding the age and some history of the company that manufactured the piano and emailed this information to me. Certainly, this action was above and beyond the service call. I will most definitely use Barnes Piano for all piano services in the future.

His service had let me know ahead of time via email and phone about my upcoming appointment. Tim spent 2 hours here to do 2 tunings. He analyzed the condition of my piano. Before he started working, he let me know what shape it was in and what he suggested should be done to bring it back to being in tune. When he was done, he made a suggestion that since my piano is 32 years old, the keys are ready to be re-padded whenever I'd like to have that done. He offered to schedule an appointment for next year with reminders sent out ahead of time. I was very pleased with his work and his service.

Tim is a great tuner! He is very dependable and reliable. This is the second time I have used him to tune our piano and received excellent service once again. He takes the hassle out of maintaining our piano.

As Tim tuned my piano he explained what he was doing and further adjustments and repairs my 1926 piano needed to bring better tone and more control of the keys. He seemed very knowledgeable as to the technicalities. He was very polite and easy to work with and nswered my questions with great clarity and patience. Later he emailed me the technical explanations of each needed repair and what would be involved with doing the repairs. After consideration of several weeks and checking on his reputation, I have scheduled further work with him on the adjustments he recommended. I would definitely recommend Tim to anyone who needs their piano tuned and information about their piano.

Was on time. Professional and courteous. It had been a couple years since my piano had been tuned. So it took a couple hours for him to do. I would definitely recommend him and use him again.
