Tuned my piano - excellent service.

Tim is very professional and knows his stuff. He gave us good information on the history of our piano and has a great ear .....the best skill needed for a piano tuner. He did an excellent job and you can tell he is passionate and thorough about the care of your piano. He recommended some additional work on the piano which I paid extra for and made some other recommendations about long term maintenance which I am strongly considering. I was very pleased with all aspects of the service and would highly recommend Barnes Piano Tuning to anyone.

After examining our piano, he asserted that our piano's pitch needed to be adjusted (for an $85 extra charge), and so he did that first. Then he tuned the piano. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Our biggest complaint was that it seemed like, after we had signed up for the Big Deal, that we kept learning about additional things that needed to be done, above and beyond what was covered by the Big Deal. The aforementioned pitch adjustment, about which Tim sent us some information prior to his visit, was the first of these. Tim also identified four other items that he recommended be addressed, and sent us an estimate for nearly $2,000 for these items after his visit. This is probably evidence of Tim's thoroughness, but it was a little disconcerting, given we were only expecting a tuning. Overall, however, we were satisfied with the service we got from Barnes Piano and would recommend them to others.

We recently moved to Charlotte, and the movers were unable to properly assemble the pedal board on our baby grand after the move. I wasn't sure if the problem was in the assembly or if something had been damaged. I contacted Barnes, explained the situation, and Tom was able to come out the next week to check it out in case a claim was necessary. One hour and he had the piano working better than it had before the move! We are having him tune it in January. He called to see if it was okay that he came half an hour early (it was perfect) and then was friendly, courteous, and exceptionally knowledgable. I learned more about the construction of a baby grand in an hour with him than I had in 5 years of owning it. I am excited to find such an incredible tuner and servicer. As a note, they do not service electric organs but were able to provide references.

First of all Timothy Barnes was very personable and knowledgeable. We had scheduled a piano tuning, but suspected we may need more service because the piano had been moved and hadn't been tuned in at least 10 years. Timothy based his recommendation for service on our usage of the piano. No hard sell, just honest advice. We were very pleased, will use Barnes Piano for future tuning and repair needs. Highly recommended.

Used Angie's list coupon for $99.00, appreciated that they did not try to sell me additional services but told me what could be done in addition in one years time.

I can't say enough what a great professional experience this has been. Communication has been excellent. He arrived on time for each appointment. Plus, I can tell that he personally cares about the work he does. It's like he is tuning the piano for himself to play and he wants as close to perfect as he can get it.

I purchased a special from Angie's List for a piano tuning and was given an appointment the day I contacted Timothy. He came to the house today on-time as promised. Timothy spent a couple of hours tuning and adjusting the pitch on my piano. He suggested ways for me to keep the humidity in the house at an optimum level. The only problem I have with him is that he can play MUCH better than I.....:0)....just makes me want to practice more.

Timothy gave explanations for everything and was very professional in his work and demeanor.

Had not met Tim the first time he came to tune our piano, so it was a real pleasure. He's engaging, knowledgable, and focused. Glad to know there are high quality folks able stay busy, as their services are invaluable today with fewer people truly learning their crafts and professions.

The appointment was confirmed one business day prior to the scheduled arrival date. Tim was punctual and began assessing the needs of the old paino. Tim patiently explained in detail what repairs needed to be completed to the piano as far as cleaning, tuning and pitching. The piano had been transported from Florida and Tim discussed how the climate may have effected the piano. Tim spent 2.5 hours thoroughly cleaning and pitching the piano. The paino sounds great and I am very much looking forward to it being a musical focal point in our home once again! I am very pleased with the service provided and would be happy to recommend him in the future.

Tim spent over 4 hours which included at least 45 minutes explaining in detail each step and answering all of my questions. In the future I will only have Tim or someone he personally recommends work on my Kawaii. His expertise and passion was refreshing.

After a long and deliberate tuning, the piano sounds wonderful to our ears, once again! The owner, Timothy Barnes, arrived promptly at our home and really took his time to make the piano sound like new. He did a great job of tuning all the chords of the piano and gave us some great tips to keep it sounding beautifully in the future. Very professional service; I would highly recommend this company to friends and neighbors looking for assistance with their pianos.

I didn't realize the piano needed to be stabilized but when he showed me the pitch differential from A440 I had him stabilize it before tuning it. Also didn't know a piano's interior had to be cleaned (don't remember ever having done this) but now I know! Having these other two services increased my price over what I had hoped it would be. He spent over 3 hours here and it now sounds great! Thanks, Tim.

Tim was very accommodating and started by and overall examination of the piano and it condition. His knowledge was very impressive. Because my piano had not been tuned for the past few years, there was as Tim explained a deeper tuning required. I was a little surprised at the added cost. But Tim explained in detail what was required to bring my piano back to what it once was. When he finished I was thrilled at the sound I had been missing.

I am very pleased with the service I received. I scheduled this through a special on Angie's List. I has to reschedule my first appointment due to a medical appointment, and the staff was very courteous in doing this for me. My piano sounds great now!

The detail(s) really is the fact that Tim spent 2 1/2 hours with the piano doing what was necessary to put the piano back to " almost new " condition ! The only " non piano tuning " time in that 2 1/2 hour period was a 5 minute break to have a water break. Any questions I asked were answered in a more than satisfactory manner to mr. I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for this service and it turned out very well. They were prompt and very professional. We purchased an older piano and they are coming back to do a little more work so I think it was to their benefit as well. The first time the technician was here he was here for about two hours.

since the piano had not been tuned in 10 tens or more, he had to do a great deal of extra work. He worked tenaciously on the piano for 2-3 hrs. His work is excellent. I've recommended already to others.

Tim was very courteous -- he realized early into the day that he would be late to my afternoon appointment, so he called to let me know. I really appreciated that, instead of him just being 30 minutes late. Tim took a few minutes upon arrival to assess the piano and then shared with me what he needed to do. In my case, it was just the basic tuning. Upon completion of the tuning, he let me know what else he had discovered (some pads will need to be replaced, etc). We parted company on very good terms and I look forward to doing business with Tim in the future.

Tim arrived on time as always. I have been using Tim to tune my piano for about 4 years. He is always prompt and very polite. He explains exactly what he is doing while he is working on my piano. I don't play, so this is very beneficial for me! It takes him about 2 hours to completely tune the piano and it is a pleasure to have him in my home. I have given his name to several friend who have also used his services and they continue to talk very positively about Tim and his piano tuning skill! I hope he never leaves the Charlotte area! As a home owner I deal will all types of service providers. Tim Barnes and his team provided me by far the best service experience I have ever received. There are very few piano service providers in my area, meaning little competion which usually equates to an average experience. Barnes Piano treated me like I was their only customer, with friendly, personalized and truly knowledgeable, professional service. Starting with exceptional administration support and Tim showing up right on time, to the detailed consultation on how to best and cost effectively get my 70+ year old Weber baby grand piano back into tip top shape - I just can't say enough about how exceptional the total experience was. All necessary work was clearly explained to me, including alternatives and trade-offs. Once I decided on the best path forward I knew what the the total cost would be UP FRONT. Tim was prompt and professional. It has been a number of years since this piano was last tuned, therefore I was not surprised that it needed more than just tuning. He recommended a "moderate" pitch raise as well, to which I agreed. The piano plays beautifully now, and I look forward to Tim keeping my Yamaha sounding good.

Tim came to the house and was very professional. He called to let me know he would be 10 minutes later than I expected. He took the time to explain the piano's condition and discussed the previous damp chaser I had on the piano (for humidity control) and why I may want to consider a new one in the future. I was very happy with his knowledge and service.
