The estimate for tuning seemed reasonable and I will call them to perform the tuning after we move the piano to it's new location.

Tim came to our home to tune our piano and did a fine job. He was on time and completed the work in an expeditious manner. He is professional and courteous. He completed a comprehensive review of our piano and recommended repairs in priority order telling us which needed to be completed at this time and other repairs that will come up over time. I would definitely have him service our piano again.

Tim Barnes showed up exactly when he indicated in phone conversation. Very personable. Explained the process as he was working. After several minutes of examination and playing the keys, strings, and other parts of piano, he went into great detail concerning the condition of the piano. Unfortunately the piano had been neglected for years and needed much more work than a basic tune-up. The piano had been acquired recently, with no knowledge of its history. Tim went into detail, that it had been built in 1912, and rebuilt in the 80's or 90's. Not much work done after that. Left with the promise of forthcoming estimates for repairs, which were sent within the next day or two. We have decided not to get any further work done at this time. Very pleased with Tim and would highly recommend his services to anyone.

Scheduling was a little difficult at first, but then very responsive. Great service by a person who really knows what they are doing.

I've used him before. Everything was good. He did a great job. He made sure the piano was right. We have a little bit of a problem with humidity in the house. He talked to me about the humidity and the heating and cooling. He was on time and did everything he needed to do. He's great. He's a good guy. I will definitely use him again.

I was very pleased with my experience with Barnes Piano Tuning. I received several emails beforehand confirming the appt. and explaining the charges and several emails afterwards listing items for future consideration and thanking me for using their services. Timothy was prompt, courteous and professional. He explained step-by-step everything he did and invited me to watch & ask questions. I chose Barnes Piano because of the many glowing reviews on Angie's List. My piano hadn't been tuned in 20+ years, and I wanted an expert. Because I didn't compare prices, I don't know if the price was in line with others. What I do know is my piano sounds wonderful! I will definitely use Barnes Piano again.

Tim was punctual with numerous emailed reminders. We agreed upon a fair price for the services he stated were needed, including repairing the board that were above and beyond a simple tuning, and her performed those services in a timely manner. He called in advance of the last session to inform me that he would be 10 to 15 minutes late and asked if that was agreeable. I wish every service provider was as considerate. Tim is very professional in the way he conducts his business and I would recommend his services to anybody who appreciates that level or professionability.

Barnes Piano Service was professional from the minute I bought their Angie's List coupon for piano tuning. I quickly received an e-mail describing the company, their services, and was asked to schedule an appointment. I have an older piano that hadn't been played (other than kids banging) or tuned in over 8 years. Tim inspected the piano and was very honest and upfront about what it needed and the costs involved. He worked quickly and made sure the job was completed and I was satisfied before leaving. He even made time to explain to me and my kids about how the piano works. I feel that Barnes provides a quality service for a fair price and I look forward to continuing to use them in the upkeep of my piano. I will be recommending Barnes to all my friends!

In addition to the very competent tuning which I expected based on Tim's previous reviews, he also took the time to explain several issues affecting piano performance and long-term maintenance, particularly local climatic conditions. It went very well. Tim is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and punctual. Barnes Piano, L.L.C. provided high quality information about their services up-front so that I would have a good idea of what to expect. The visit was very efficient. Tim efficiently assessed my piano and then very patiently pointed out the issues with it, including dicussing in detail the services it could use or would be recommended at a minimum. He was clear on cost for each type of service. He promised a complete write-up via email following the visit, and it was received very promptly. I now have the information I need to decide how I want to move forward. I would definitely use Barnes Piano again without hesitation, and I strongly recommend them to others.

could not have gone better. Tim was completely professional and extremely knowledgeable. When he'd been working on the piano for a bit, he called me in to the room. I thought we were done, visit completed. But Tim had just finished thoroughly examining the instrument since, as he said, he hadn't seen this piano before "and didn't know it." He then patiently explained what he found and what he recommended. I felt confident in the plan because Tim, unbeknownst to him, corroborated what another tuner had previously told me to be expecting. Tim answered my many questions & we came up with a plan for future visits. At first glance, a little pricey compared to other tuners we've had, but, in this case, we got more than we paid for with Tim -- We highly recommend Barnes Piano.

During the reassembly of the piano, Tim inadvertently over tightened a runner that holds down the keys. We didn't discover this until the evening when my daughter played the piano. We called Tim and he had me send him some pictures of the area of the piano affected. He knew what was happening immediately. He came by the next morning and corrected the issue. He even offered to change his Holiday plans to make sure we were taken care if and satisfied.

It went very well. I lucked out, because they had a cancellation and were able to fit me in before Christmas. When I scheduled the tuning, I was warned about the potential need for a pitch adjustment (additional fee) based on the length of time since last tuning and the recent long-distance move to Charlotte. Sure enough, it needed a moderate pitch adjustment. Timothy Barnes did an excellent job tuning my piano and he inspected it for any damage from the move as well. He discovered some maintenance items that he recommends and said he would provide me a written estimate, which he has already done. Overall, I was very pleased and plan to use them again in the future.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it went very well. They did an excellent job and I was very pleased. They had to do additional adjustments so there was an extra charge of about $100 over the Big Deal price. They warned me up front that the additional adjustments might have to be made because I had moved the piano all the way from Florida.

I am more than pleased. We relocated three years ago and had not found quite the right person that we trusted with our piano yet ... I believe that our search may finally be over! I am almost embarrassed to admit how long it had been since we had it tuned (especially considering that both me and my husband were piano majors!) Tim was very professional and knowledgeable; honestly, our piano has not sounded this good in years. We had a pitch raise and tuning on this visit, and also discussed some other areas that may need to be reviewed in the future, but there were no high-pressure upsell tactics - just simply some suggestions about what we may need to keep the piano in excellent shape going forward. He offered to send us a quote, and we have received it - the prices are very competitive. I plan to use Barnes Piano again in the future and will definitely be recommending them to others.

So we asked if he would be able to fix it. He gave us several prices of what could be done & we were very pleased with what he did. I love my piano now!

A complete cleaning and retuning of our standup piano....and he plays beautifully.

I had picked up a piano on Craigs List as I wanted to get my young daughters started on piano and didn't want to invest too much before giving them a shot. The piano was horribly out of tune and was down at least a half step all around. There were several keys that wouldn't work at all. I found Tim on Angie's List and decided to give him a shot. I was glad I did. I am an engineer by degree and he took the time to explain the mechanics and history of the piano as he worked. It was very interesting and he was able to pull this piano back to life. I was impressed with his technical knowledge and perfectionist approach to his work.

In addition to the tuning which I purchased through the Big Deal offer, Tim cleaned and repaired the piano. It went great. Tim was very knowledgeable about pianos in general and was able to look up my antique baby grand and give me information on its manufacturer, when it was originally built, and on the overall quality/workmanship of the rebuild. Very pleasant experience and when he left my piano was in better shape than I have ever seen it. Definitely recommend his services and have set up an annual checkup.

Everything went well. I now use Barnes Piano every six months.

Tim was great, showed up on time and spend considerable amount of time tuning our piano. We will ask him to service our piano in the future.
