Well-Loved Piano

Outstanding service - I would highly recommend Timothy to anyone who needs to have their piano serviced. Although it was costly for me - it was because the piano had been moved 6 times in 6 years and had not been tuned for that period of time. He also fixed keys that were sticking which I had been previously told could not be fixed. Overall - awesome service and I will be having him tune my piano yearly from now on.

We purchased the Angie's List "big deal" for a basic piano tuning for $99 knowing that our piano would require more than a "basic" tune?our hopes in doing so was to keep our overall cost to get our piano back on track to a minimum. Timothy Barnes was really thorough and obviously was very experienced. He recommended a couple of other things that will make our 35 year old piano play more efficiently, and we will hopefully be able to do those things in the future. Over all a great experience.

We purchased the deal for our daughter in law as present. They responded quickly to them. We never heard any complaints. The service went well.

Timothy is clearly a very knowledgeable and highly skilled piano technician. I would use his services again and have no hesitation in recommending his company.

It went fine. You get ample opportunity to upgrade and get lots of things fixed on your piano. Prices for those not so reasonable.

This was a great experience and I've already scheduled my next tuning using his company's auto-appointment feature. I am a mediocre pianist, so his careful explanations of the "what and why" of the tuning process was excellent. He's an accomplished pianist and was able to get his points across by relating his actions to what is important to me at my skill level. I had a very different experience with a previous company who had removed the key backstop from the piano and never returned. He was very candid about what it would require to replace it and gave me instructions so I build it myself. Impressive since I know his company could have done this as a service. His credentials are impeccable and I will be recommending him to my friends. He's professional, amiable and a master of his craft.

Mr. Barnes advised me that the piano would need more work than we wanted to put into it, so we decided not to have it tuned. We were not charged for the service visit.

Mr. Barnes is very professional. He arrived promptly and spent a great deal of timing tuning the piano. He was very thorough in his explanations, and his prices are reasonable for someone that clearly knows what he is doing. I recommend him without reservation and have already scheduled the next appointment for tuning. Barnes Piano is a very reputable outfit.

I did not understand this deal until I paid for it. The tune-up would only be performed if the piano did not require other maintenance which mine likely did since I had just moved. This was not clear in the advertisement and I did not know this until after I had paid and actually spoken to someone with the company. The deal would have cost much more for me than the 99 so I cancelled.

I have been working with Tim for many years since moving to Charlotte when my children started taking piano lessons. He is thorough and a pleasure to work with. It is always a musical pleasure when he is finished!

Tim was prompt, personable and professional. He was knowledgeable, very thorough in his diagnosis and helpful in explaining it to us. He worked with us to make sure we got the tuning and repair that we needed on the spot, worked with us to find an affordable solution and talked about ?getting to know the piano? which was a nice way to talk how he could help us in the future. My piano, which I had inherited from my parents, had not been tuned in decades-- and is about 60 years old. Tim came exactly on time, assessed what needed to be done, and talked with me about the costs, over and above the Deal that I had purchased from Angie's list. Knowing what all the cleaning, pitch adjustment, and cleaning would entail, I feel that their price was very reasonable. And the piano now sounds wonderful. Thetuner, Tim, was knowledgeable, personable, and very professional. I will definitely be calling on Barnes Piano to tune this piano again.

I found him to be very professional. He did a great job tuning the piano. He came when he said he would. He also did a thorough cleaning on it.

Everything turned out well. The owner came out to do the work and he was very friendly and very efficient. I spoke with his wife to get something scheduled and she was pleasant on the phone. They were able to come out to my home to do the service.

Piano had not been tuned in close to ten years. Once agreed upon he worked to complete the repair over a roughly two hours. The tuning was completed with very good results. The tuner was very professional and informative.

We had a great experience with Barnes Piano. We scheduled Tim to tune our piano. He was very thorough in examining our piano. Although our piano is relatively new to us, it is an older piano. Tim was able to explain what was going on within our piano in a way that I could understand, pianos are pretty complicated instruments. Turns out the piano wasn't out of tune, but had another issue. Tim did a great job of explaining the issue and options for correction. I received a very good education on the inter workings of pianos. Barnes Piano was very professional. He arrived on time and worked on our piano in a timely manner. He was friendly and very informative. I totally recommend Barnes Piano and look forward to working with them in the future.

In the last year I was given a 6ft grand piano from a family member who upgraded to a better piano but didn't really want to part with the old one. I lucked out with room for it, but had no real knowledge of pianos and at the time no one in my immediate family to play it. SInce taking delivery of the piano my youngest, 8yrs, started playing and then my husband. Needless to say we don't know much about what is involved with taking care of such an instrument. I purchased an Angie's list coupon for piano tuning. I had a few questions about what services were covered and what the extra's were going to be. I provided a description of what I thought was needed, after a series of very prompt emails with answers, I established a realistic rough idea of the cost. We waited several months before having the work due to extenuating conditions that would have made having the service done earlier unreasonable. When I called to make the appointment for the work. They were very nice, responsive, and able to accommodate my schedule. Tim was running about 10 min late and called to inform me of the circumstances as soon as it was evident he wasn't going to make it on time. When he got here he was very interested in learning the history of the piano, and piecing together what I thought to be true and what the piano was telling him. I was able to get my family member on the phone to clearly identify the piano's history and Tim clearly impressed my family. I would very definitely recommend barnes Piano to anyone and will use them the next time we need to have work done.
