I was charged $802.00 for the replacement of the valve but valve was not the issue. And I was charged $134 for an initial diagnostic that was incorrect. They then identified the issue as being something completely different then the valve and again wanted to charge me again $134 for a second diagnosis and $267 to replace a part that has one screw. It was covered under warranty so was free and took less then five minutes to replace. After paying them almost a thousand dollars the issue was not fixed and they wanted to keep charging for more parts so I had another company come out to look at it. Sheer Comfort found the issue in ten minutes. A loose wire. I was charged almost a thousand dollars for a loose wire.

They give me a summary of what they did. They were very clean, could not even tell they had been here. I am very satisfied with them.
Description of Work: Replaced heating and air conditioning unit. Also come out twice a year to check up on the new system.

This company has no remorse and is not accepting any responsibility for the damages they caused. I never smelled anything burning until after they worked on the unit. I have been without heat since January 31, 2017. I have to depend on Amish heaters to heat my home. I'm not sure why I was treated this way, I can assume it's because of my gender or race! We paid $134 on January 12, 2017 but now it going to cost an astronomical amount to replace the entire unit. I have had 3- different companies give me estimates with their findings of the damages caused by Smoky Mountain Heating & Air.
Description of Work: On February 3, two technicians Greg and Brandon) came to my home to installed a relay on my furnace which required wiring unlike the old relay they took out. When I came home from work the house was filled with smoke, I called the fire department. The wiring that the technicians did was wrong and caused wires to melt together, the blower was so hot the paper melted off of it. Thankfully the breaker shut down the unit so my home wouldn't burn down. They originally serviced the unit on January 12, 17, they came out because my unit was coming on but not blowing air. Their findings were I needed heat strips, cost of this visit was $134. On February 2, 17, one technician returned to my home for the same problem. Two high voltage wire were replaced/repaired, and new connectors were added. I came home from work, to the smell of something burning.Brandon instructed me to turn the unit off so I did. I called them again, on February 4, Brandon come to my home he did not leave a paper copy of his findings this time however he did observe the melted wires/paper plus the horrible smell of burning in the area where the furnace is.He took the blower out and observed all melted wires there as well. He stated, that he could not rewire the unit and the head guy Drew Thorp would have to decide what to do next needless to say he left the blower unbolted down and disconnected anything that may cause additional damages. Brandon expressed an apology for what occurred with my horrible experience meanwhile insisting that Greg is the best and did nothing wrong. On February 7, 2017. Drew told my dad that the charge of $248 on February 3. did not have to be paid, But the unit needed heat strips and they did nothing wrong! Imagine that however on the 2/3/17 Greg & Brandon told my dad the heat strips no longer needed to be replaced because it was the relay. On 4 different invoices from Smoky Mountain Heating & Air, they all state my heat pump & furnace are good working & normal. Due to their negligence of quality work my entire unit needs to be replaced the fee is between $5000-$7000 so that $248 for the same problem that was never fixed from January 12 2017 means absolutely nothing.

The workers were polite and punctual but the unit never was repaired. The needed repair was going to be very costly and we had already spent several hundred dollars on previous visits. We opted for a different route.
Description of Work: Our heat pump went out right before the warranty expired. We called this company and they came out to make repairs. The repairs lasted a few months and the unit failed again. This time not under warranty. This company came to our house again but never really resolved the problem. We were told the needed repair would cost 800+. So we just bought an efficient window unit instead that is working great.

Smoky Mountain has suggested that I pay for the rust clean-up. A second problem is a thick dust output from the room vents in all rooms. A similar problem occurred in 2007. I paid for a LENNOX and quot;Healthy Climate 16 (HC 16) Media Air Cleanerand quot; ($550). At that time it was the best buy filter system available, as reported by and quot;Consumer Reportsand quot;. Smoky Mtn installed the HC 16 at that time. It came with a 5-year warranty. in late 2013, the heavy dust problem reccured. This time, Gentry* demonstrated pollen in the output vents and I observed maple seeds flying in the vents to the rooms. Any one of the input filters prior to the furnace should have removed particles of that size. I wasted some time trying to get someone to analyze the dust content -- but then realized that the HC16 system had outlived its warranty, and that the problem was the HC16 or its installation in 2007. This could be a problem in that the maintenance technician who installed the HC16 for Smoky Mountain in 2007 had passed away and the warranty had expired. I have yet to inform Smoky Mtn of my latest troubleshooting. I must do all of this in my head because I am 75 and cannot get around in the attic with my lack of balance. I can pay another $550 for another MC 16 -- but have no way of seeing that it was installed properly, in 2007or at this time. I have not spoken with Smoky since receiving their letter of 7 June, which suggested that I solve my dust problem, along with my rust problem. And that I pay for it. *see evaluation of Gentry submitted, 8 June June 10 update: I have informed 'Smoky of my response to their offers a week ago. Smoky says that they are not qualified to do the work, but I say I have a maintenance contract with them for my furnace and A/C; They have been helpful so far . -- but not with their two responses on the present problems. They solved a similar dust problem on my/their maintenance contract in 2007. The warranty period for that work is over. I am only suggesting that they repeat that work, at my cost. And they are refusing to do it. The first claim on the rust problem is one that they should have done because the cause of it was their fault. During their maintenances they had not noticed the stuffed-up duct for the A/C coolant disposal in the attic. The rust from that stoppage is easy to see outside over the A/C pipe. Since that area of the furnace/A-C system must be checked every 6 months, they're saying their technicians beneath that stain had failed to look up and notice the 100 square-foot stain area on the vinyl of the rear of the house. That is impossible..
Description of Work: Furnished semi-annual performance reports for a LENNOX Heating and A/C system installed in the attic of my home. Smoky Mtn identifies itself as a "_Premier LENNOX Dealer. Recently two problem areas have been identified in that system, which is approx. 10 years old: A leak was found in the condensate drain from the condensate pump for the A/C subsystem and reported by the Smoky Mtn technician who does my 6-month check-ups. The leak, which resulted from a blocked drain, collected materials which rusted and contributed stained output through a pipe installed for the (normal ) exodus through the house wall from the attic area. Since the rust stain occurred over a period of at least a year, a considerable stain exists on the vinyl siding of the outside wall of the house two floors at the rear of the house.

After calling every HVAC company, local furnace repair as well as the manufacturer rep to no avail for the past 2 months, I finally found this company on Angie's List. No one would touch my Harman system as it burns coal, wood or oil. I could find no one to come inspect the inefficient output. We have been limping along and burning down all my acreage to heat the home. Finally started using oil and the system failed after about a week. This company said they could service the unit AND could be there in 2 hours. We were shocked. Matt and Alex showed up earlier than projected and spent 1.5 hours showing us all about this system. They showed us clogged filters that the prior owner never changed, demonstrated that we had excessive water in our system, tested the oil/air mix, replaced the capacitor and made further recommendations to finish the tune-up when the system has been cold for several days. While I am out of their service area and there was a $75 trip fee, it was my only option. I am just feeling fortunate that they would even come try, not to mention I feel they did a very professional and thorough evaluation of my system.

We were very impressed with them. Everything was overall good but there were some complicated issues.
Description of Work: I used Smoky Mountian Heating & Air to have our air conditioner cleaned. We did a review last year but they did come out again this year. They were here a couple of months ago and the repair itself was 367.28 because the air conditioner wasn't working. Everything is working now.

excellent! they ( matt and his helper) arrived 20 minutes early. performed a thorough evaluation. found no real problems. did not try to sell me services or products i did not need. charged me the quoted price. they recorded the needed information in the event that i developed a problem with the fan timing control, so that if they had to return, they would have the appropriate parts on hand.
Description of Work: we had a 15 year old lennox central ac unit that had never been checked and may have had a problem with a fan timing control, and was in need of a routine "check up".

On the newly scheduled appointment time, the sales representative showed up about 45min late. This appointment took more than an hour during which the rep appeared to make some detailed notes, however, I never received the estimate. Nothing! Total waste of my time, which I had to make up for taking off of work.
Description of Work: Called to get an estimate for installing a new heating and cooling system. They scheduled it for about two weeks away. About a week or so later, they called back and said they couldn't keep that date and needed to reschedule, which I did.
