Quality Air was contacted to service our malfunctioning boiler pump and arrived at our home on Tuesday, January 5th 2016. It was determined our Bell & Gossett series 100 pump coupler had broken and needed replacement. The broken coupler was removed and replaced with a Bell & Gossett coupler assembly part number 118723. Our technician, Ben, determined the motor and shaft components were spinning nicely. The motor mounts were not acknowledged. The back of the coupler part package states in large, capitalized, bold letters: "IMPORTANT! Coupler breakage is usually caused by sagging motor mounts. Protect your pump from premature failure. Replace both the coupler and worn resilient motor mounts." The package also includes a detailed graphic displaying a sagging motor mount and the resulting misalignment of the motor with the pump shaft, which perfectly matches the appearance of our motor mount. This was also confirmed by a representative from another company giving us a quote on a new boiler system. We contacted Quality Air to respectfully explain our concern about the repair and Steve answered. He was asked if he worked on boilers himself to gauge his level of understanding, and he promptly replied, ?Do YOU?? After mentioning the part installed had details about motor mount replacement on the package, his response was, ?can you send me a picture of it?? as if the part installed by the business was somehow foreign to them. After explaining the technician was made aware of these details during servicing, his response was, ?so you don?t have it?? The implication of dishonesty and hostile tone was unprofessional, disrespectful, and downright insulting. Why this man would be paid to represent a business and interact with customers is beyond us. Quality Air refused to replace the motor mounts on our unit as part of the service provided, even though this is clearly recommended by the manufacturer of our pump and the part they used. After speaking with several other companies in our area, replacing worn motor mounts with a coupler is considered standard industry best practice as well. The coupler will break again or motor fail as the most likely cause of the problem has not been fixed per B&G. We were charged $321 total for the Tier 2 pricing plan plus a $68 diagnostic charge. The details of the Tier 2 pricing reflect heat pump service only and include replacing many parts as well as servicing many others. They do not appear to have a pricing plan reflecting boiler service. A B&G coupler costs $20, and labor involved is quite minimal. According to my research, replacing the motor mounts would be about the same. Yet they strangely refused, and instead forced us to use another company for future HVAC needs. The Better Business Bureau of Asheville was contacted, and an offer to replace to mounts was eventually received. However, we declined to accept this offer as we no longer trust this business.

All went well and even signed up for a contract service which covered seasonal, emergency, and replacement if ever required.

Amazing! Through Angies List web site I requested an estimate on a new HVAC system. I suggested 3 different dates and times that would work for me the following week. Within a half hour, I had an email saying they would call me soon. Another 15 minutes and the call came in. Any of my suggested dates would work, but, they had time TODAY if I was available. It was my day off, so, yes, come on out. Arrived on time and proceeded to give me two full hours of investigation and inquiry as to my needs and desires for a new system. Presented me with a detailed proposal on the spot which highlighted, on the back, all of their guarantees and commitments. Of the two previous quotes I requested, one has never arrived and the other took two weeks. They pointed out complications that had not been noticed by the other companies. (Quality did not know I had received other quotes) My quote came in slightly lower than the other, but not for that reason only, I would only consider doing my business with Quality Air. Even if they had been slightly higher on the quote, I would look forward to much better service and attention than from any other company I looked at. The need is not urgent, so I haven't sighed a contract yet, but I feel no need to look further. Next spring, these folks are going to be putting in a new HVAC unit for me.

Called because air conditioner was installed just barely over a year ago and it wasn't working. Left a message, never received a call back. Called company back because I was leaving the country in the next couple days and wanted system fixed for our pets and house sitter. Arranged for a tech to come out, earliest they could arrive would be after we already left, so verbally told them our house sitter could authorize repairs needed and asked if they could bill us when we returned from our trip. Tech arrived to check out air conditioner. According to our house sitter he was late, didn't speak very good english and just said all the Freon was out of our system,(we don't have a Freon system). She made an appointment for him to come back and make repairs and when he didn't show, we had to call a different company to come. They did however send a $500 bill for doing nothing. Issue was most likely caused when originally installed by this company. So I ended up with a $700 bill from another company for something the original company should have warranted, but said they wouldn't no matter what since we were 2 months over our year warranty.
Description of Work: Showed up late, didn't give an accurate diagnosis of what was wrong, then failed to show to make the actual repairs, but still sent a bill for $500

We do not have this customer in our data base and have never worked here. There is another company here in Asheville with a similar name that seems to get confused with us daily. They are a Russian owned company and that explains the broken English part of this review, We do employ all American technicians driving fully stocked trucks, we also do not send a bill as we collect from the homeowner at the time of service. The Quality Air service provider I was to see in the morning was sick and I was assigned another. I received timely calls from Quality Air with this change and appreciated that they would still work with me on the same day. The provider showed up, was professional and spent a good amount of time looking at my HVAC unit. He replaced my thermostat at my request and told me my HVAC was in good working order. He set up another provider to look at air flow in my home for the following week. He showed me an annual service contract that was reasonably priced and left it with me, so that I could consider this more. This was a great experience and I would recommend this organization.

It went perfectly. The scheduler got me on the schedule first thing this morning and I called late yesterday afternoon. It was SO hot yesterday and my air conditioning system just died! The scheduler was SO helpful (Sharon) and the young man who performed the service call ( Ben Cline) was fabulous. When Ben found the problem, he fixed it immediately and continued to thoroughly check my system. They did not try to charge me for more than what was needed and they were the BEST!! Also, I used an Angie's List coupon and saved $50. Not a bad day!! Thank You Quality Air and Angie's List!!

Jarrod arrived promptly and inspected both units, told me that the air condition would need replacing sometime in the near future. Both units needed new capacitors @ $132 each. I purchased a maintenance contract @ 15.95 per month. which includes emergency service call, only pay for repairs; free maintenance two times a year; priority 24 hour service; 5% discount on system replacements and upgrades; $100 rebate for each consecutive year of membership. I'm very pleased thoroughness of Jarrod's inspection and with the cost of the maintenance contract, which is transferable to the new owner should I ever sell the house.
Description of Work: Assessed Bryant gas furnace (18 y.o.). and Rheem air conditioner (not sure of age but probably as old as the gas furnace.)

First, I was alarmed by the fact that the tech did not have me come out and SEE the burned out capacitor INSTALLED in the outside unit before he cut it out. I am not normally suspicious but I had the feeling he did a bait and switch - that he had badly burned out capacitor on hand and the one he cut out of my outside unit may have been perfectly fine and was "disappeared". I asked how a unit so totally destroyed could have functioned at all last summer (it was fine and there were no failures). He became very upset that I was suggesting he might be lying about it (or did I catch him in the act of doing something fraudulent?) The point is I should not have to even be concerned that an Angie's List company with an A rating would be so unprofessional. I called his boss (owner - manager?) who defended his employee as the finest of men and a veteran with a family to support. Given there was no capacitor left in the outside unit I had to have it replaced. Word of advice to buyers and sellers: if a part is BAD and needs replaced - SHOW it to the customer before you CUT IT OFF the device it belongs in. When I spoke with the manager a second time because the whole situation was still bothering me, he was extremely rude and suggested "I must have been really ripped off by somebody else to be so suspicious". This is entirely incorrect. I had no problems with GENTRY AIR CONDITIONING two years before. Last year the Gentry technician replaced a capacitor that I SAW in place in the indoor unit - it was clearly "fried" and needed to be replaced. No worries. Gentry was a much better company to go with and I am sorry I changed to Quality Air.
Description of Work: a summer tune-up of A/C outdoor and indoor unit (just one A/C). Technician said he cut off a badly burned out capacitor from the outdoor unit and brought it inside to me to show it needed replacement. It was replaced.

Quality Air is a very good company. The technicians are pleasant and professional. They fixed a failed capacitor on my outdoor unit and offered a competitive service contract. I had more problems a week later and they came back SAME DAY to troubleshoot. A different part was broken, but they gave me the contract price retroactively. They didn't have to do that. It saved me $$$. This is the kind of company you join Angie's List for. They are good, fast, and affordable. The big three!

Went well. A replacement part was needed which he had on his truck. It cost an extra $150. Well worth the money since the HVAC had not been serviced by the previous owners in at least a couple of years.

Thank you for the review, unfortunately heat exchangers in furnaces are like a paperclip that you bend back and forth. (You never know when they are going to break) We have infrared cameras to look at heat exchangers to be sure that you are safe for the winter and I see that we showed you the pictures of your heat exchanger. The gentleman who came was polite, informative, and wore protective booties over his shoes to ensure our home stayed clean. He explained our heating system to us as well as provided a clear understanding of the broken part. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of HVAC services. In fact, we joined their club which includes regular maintenance and discounts on parts.
