Declined service.
Description of Work: I called to get information and make an appointment for a spring tune-up. Couldn’t get a price quote for this, despite there being a $79 coupon on their website. The “membership” program makes no sense. You have to pay an “assessment fee” up front, and a tune-up fee ( won’t disclose) and then agree to the withdrawal of $18 from your checking account, or pay an additional $35 if you pay the membership fee up front. Too convoluted for me.

That's been good.
Description of Work: They do twice a year maintenance. I pay them like $16 a month and then they come twice a year and do free maintenance and change out things that need to be changed.

They installed complete brand new units in my house in November. They do a complete and thorough check. I got an air cleaning system on my unit and the filter gets changed once a year for free. In spite having the air cleaning system they even have it dusted for me every six months. I don't have to worry for anything. They are fantastic and they really are. I have not dealt with a better company. They look out for every need and really stand by their product. They were here on time and did the job efficiently.
Description of Work: Quality Air Air Conditioning & Heating came out this month for a regular six months checkup of the units to make sure it's working fine.

Our a/c was not working and we called Quality Air. They arrived promptly, and did an inspection. I was given written materials of maintenance agreement and professional information about the technician, James. He was nice enough, but I was waiting to leave to go on a camping trip and all of this took over 3 hours! First he went and checked out everything, and had me look at the dust on the inside and outside. He was telling me how cleaning would make it run better. Then he told me a number of different parts that could need replacing, including the inside and outside capacitor. After all of this he gave me a price to fix the outside capacitor. Then after I thought it was all settled, he came back and in and said it was the compressor. We spent over an hour trying to find warranty information and was told they would have to put in an entire new system because they could not replace a non-warrantied compressor. I was hot and frustrated. This was the Wednesday before the Memorial Day weekend and we did not get home until late on Friday. We had no AC and I went on Angie's list to find who could replace the compressor. Another company came on Monday and changed the outside capacitor, in less than an hour, and we have been cool ever since. It felt like Quality air was just wanting me to get an entirely new system so I would do the maintenance agreement.

It's absolutely wonderful. They did a beautiful job. They are great people. The guys doing the work were very intelligent and knew what they were doing. They did just a wonderful job. The price included cleaning all the ducts and the other work. They did a lot of work. They put in a new return and two new ducts. They did great work. I couldn't be happier with the money spent. The unit that I chose is supposed to cut my electric bill in half, so we will see. The good thing about it though is that within a year if I decide that I don't like the system, they will replace it with something else. It's a good guarantee. They guarantee their work and they guarantee the system. The sales representatives are nice. Everybody at the office is great and they will work with you. I was very impressed. I have got the catalogs so the price for what I got was in range. They were here on time when they said they would be here. I couldn't have asked for anything better. My system had gone down and I needed it fixed. They came out the next day. Philip who came out and did the initial work-up on my heating and air-conditioning unit showed me what he found. It was a 1985 unit and it was dead. I think this new one is going to last longer. I would absolutely use them again in the future if I needed to.
Description of Work: Quality Air Air Conditioning & Heating put in a brand new heat pump for me and added new ducts. I have got a clean air system. They did the electrical work as well as far as hooking it up, disconnecting the old unit, and ripping it out of my kitchen. I live in a double wide and it was not up to code obviously. They had to take it out of my kitchen and reinstall it underneath my house.

We have a maintenance contract with them and we pay $13.95 a month. They are a Bryant dealer and we have Bryant HVAC system. That?s why we use them. It has been two years since we started using their services. It took them forever to get out here for the yearly service, last year.
Description of Work: We use the services of Quality Air, Air Conditioning & Heating for the maintenance of our HVAC system. Their last visit to our house was in October for a regular yearly tune-up. They come in to clean and make sure that everything is working properly.

The salesman was thorough and did a load calculation, but the quote was not competitive. It was higher than everyone else's and 43% higher than the company we chose. He promoted their BBB rating so much that it gave me the idea to look. What I found was an A rating, not A+ like he stated, and complaints that concerned me.

Installation required much more time than QA expected because of the unique requirements melding the solar with standard furnace/boiler system. It was a learning experience for them and for me. I was kept abreast of progress and consulted at every turn. The company had to sandwich in work on this installation with other jobs which probably cost them time (and money) but did not inconvenience us to any great extent. I was impressed by the efforts to "get it right" which I appreciate greatly. QA probably did not make any money on this installation due to its unique requirements, but the work is top quality and I would not hesitate to recommend them for any other installations. QA was recommended to me by my son-in-law who operates an HVAC company in Winston Salem, too far away to do this job for us. He is in no way directly associated with QA.
Description of Work: Replaced a failed 20 year old Heatmaker unit (not installed by Quality Air) with a Weil-McLain furnace and boiler. Tied this into existing unique hot water solar system and meshed the operations so that Solar reservoir is still primary source of heat for domestic hot water and circulating hot water household heat. Replaced existing defective venting system with new vents conforming to code.

My first experience with Quality Air was a conversion of a furnace and generator from propane to natural gas. The furnace conversion was completed flawlessly, but the generator was problematic.What impressed me was their attitude and perserverance in solving the generator problem. They did not charge me for all the extra time and trips, thus honoring their original estimate. I then became a club member and have been happy with that. They had my difficult to find filter and diagnosed a bad capacitor before it could cause a system failure. They replaced the capacitor and only charged for the part. Yes, I have been extremely happy with their service and hope that this post will benefit people looking for a A/C & heating contractor

They called on the day of the appointment (after I had taken off work to wait on them) and informed me that they had to change my appointment to the next day because "a club member called and they had to do their job instead". When I asked if this could happen the next day, the girl I spoke with told me that "yes, that is a possibility".

WE HAVE A CLUB MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM FOR OUR CLIENTS AND THERE IS APPROX. 1600 MEMBERS. THEY INVEST ON A MONTHLY BASIS AND ONE OF OUR PROMISES IS THAT IF THEY HAVE A PROBLEM THEY WILL RECEIVE FRONT OF THE LINE SCHEDULING. WE LIVE OUR PROMISE! IT WOULD NOT BE FAIR TO A CLUB MEMBER TO PUSH THEM OFF AND TO TAKE CARE OF A NON-MEMBER FIRST. WE DO HOWEVER HAVE A POLICY FOR A NON-MEMBER THAT IF IT IS RESCHEDULED TWICE WE WILL RUN THAT CALL THAT DAY EVEN IF IT IS IN A OVERTIME SITUATION.

The work was scheduled the week following our acceptance of their contract; the speed surprised us. Workers showed up exactly on the days scheduled, on time. Total job was expected to be done in 2 days, but it actually took 4 which was entirely related to the electrical upgrade we needed and the delay did not cause any problems. The workers were friendly, respectable, polite, knowledgeable and helpful with information. They cleaned up after all their work, every day. They were able to get the Heat Pump working for us within the 2-day period with a temporary electrical hookup so that we had heat again within 2 days of their first arrival. The duct cleaning was extremely thorough. The electrician was able to complete the service upgrade (upgrade a 100 Amp panel to a 200 Amp service) promptly. We are now extremely happy campers with the work done, are looking forward to our much-better energy efficiency, and would recommend this company without hesitation.
Description of Work: Our old oil furnace completely died in mid-February, and we decided to replace the entire system with a Heat Pump. We contacted several Asheville contractors and chose Quality Air for their knowledgeable staff, good price, and excellent equipment warranty. We needed the works: replace furnace and A/C, disposal of old equipment, air filter system, deep duct cleaning, house electrical service upgrade to handle it, and duct wrapping.

The service man was scheduled to arrive between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. I called the company at 11:35 a.m. and was assured by the person answering that she would check with him and call me back. A little more than an hour later, I called again. The same lady apologized and called him, reporting the service man would be here within a half hour. He arrived at 1:10 p.m. This company's maintenance contract involves joining their 'club' and making monthly payments instead of one yearly fee. Each unit requires a separate 'club' contract. There are several levels and I became totally confused. They only come once a year.
Description of Work: Two air conditioning units were to be serviced, cleaned and the filters changed. I wanted to set up a maintenance contract. Because of the time delay, only one unit was serviced.
