+ -1 moreExcellent service. Very professional and friendly. Very knowledgable. They removed 17 diseased hemlocks, ground stumps. Trimmed and cabled a large maple. Very meticulus about clean up. They came when they said they would. I cant say enough about them. We deifinitley would hire them again.

+ -1 moreThe huge tree is between 2 houses and growing over electric lines in a relatively small space. One half of the tree is growing to the side and could be at risk of breaking off and falling on my neighbor's house. John and his crew pruned out branches to eliminate weight and then installed 2 cables to anchor branches to the upright part of the tree. They had to use a crane for the pruning because of the electric lines in a tight space. They are very careful to minimize damage to the yard. Safety is their top priority. They are all very professional, courteous, and easy to work with, answering any questions and explaining what is happening. I can recommend John highly and will use him and his crew again.
Description of Work: Pruned and installed 2 cables in a huge white oak tree, using a crane for the pruning.

+ -1 moreJohn and his crew arrived promptly each day and got right to work. They worked very carefully and steadily, roping down each branch. The largest tree was 10 feet in circumference and 90 feet tall with a very wide spread. He brought in a crane because the trunk was so large and would have damaged the yard if felled. The second tree was in a very confined space with electric lines nearby. Both trees had branches over the house. They cleaned up as they worked, keeping the site safe. They removed all the wood and did a great clean up job. John is very safety conscious and was constantly watching to be sure that no one would be injured. It was obvious from the beginning that John had studied the trees and had planned how to proceed. All the crew knew what they were doing, were very deliberate, working steadily and carefully and coordinating constantly. John and his crew are all are very easy to work with, courteous and professional. The company is fully insured. I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Removed 2 huge oak trees which were very close to my house and in a confined space in my small yard. Ground 6 stumps.

+ -1 moreThese men are very skilled, careful, and efficient. Everything about the job was professionally done exactly as promised. Bidding and insurance documentation was quick and complete. Cleanup was excellent; they raked the affected area of the yard clean and left wood chips for us to use as mulch, as we requested, in a pile exactly where we requested. The price was in line with two other bids. We recommend this company highly.
Description of Work: John and his crew cut down two tall, dangerous trees in our front yard (one dead and one which was falling apart limb by limb) and trimmed several limbs high over the house from two maples.

+ -1 moreI enjoyed working with John throughout the process and would hire his team again for any future tree work. He had a large team who came out and knocked out the job within a few hours. Both large trees were taken down nicely and all the stumps were ground up. Any excess debris was raked up. All in all, I thought his team was very professional and did a great job. I would recommend this company.
Description of Work: Took down a large cherry tree and maple tree, ground up a lot of old stumps and chipped an existing pile of limbs.

He came in and gave an estimate of the work he was going to do and in that he was very selective as to what he was going to leave and what he was going to take. He knew his trees as an arborist would and was conservative with us, he told us that we could do part of it now and part of it later and gave us the choices to do that. He was very efficient and courteous, and I would highly recommend him.

He had a good strategy for taking down about 17 pine trees, most of which were mature and close to my house. I went with another contractor based on cost only but would have used Pro Tree Care otherwise.

I called him the next morning and accepted his bid.His crew started the following week and removed all trees, limbs and everything else from my property. There were no problems with any of the work.

+ -1 moreJohn Parmenter, owner, came first to give an estimate and advice on what to cut for best health of tree as well as looks. He spent lots of time explaining and educating us with no pressure to schedule the work. John has a wealth of information and gave us straight forward answers. The estimate was reasonable and we liked John's attitude about not topping trees nor butchering them. The work was done by a 4 person team, including John, and they had all equipment necessary to do the job properly, including a shredder. All were friendly and helpful, and they wore safety equipment and did the work carefully. Their cleanup was beyond our expectations and much care was taken to not injure other small trees below the cutting. John always returned my calls and emails promptly. I couldn't be happier with the job or the price and will call them again if I need other tree care.
Description of Work: Cut down tall hickory tree and pruned dead wood from large silver maple. Hickory tree was left for firewood at our request and maple chipped and hauled away. Yard raked. Road cleaned with blower.

+ -1 moreJon was fast and responsive coming out to give us a quote. He gave us recommendations that were clear and sensible and then did a visual inspection of all the trees on our lot. He worked with us to manage a tight schedule on our end and when the work plan changed, he quickly revised the quote. The job lasted two days. The nail-biting portion of it - the tree overhanging the house - was felled with zero damage to the house. The rest was done quickly and efficiently. I appreciated their diligence and the ease of the whole process. While its hard to be super-cheerful about a 2000 arborist bill, I feel like it was worth it for the ease of the experience and the quality of the service in regards to a job that was not simple. When I need more tree work, I will be calling Jon.
Description of Work: Jon and his crew cut down a large (2' diameter) that was quite close to the house. Additionally, he removed several smaller trees and trimmed the deadwood from several others. They cleaned up the site and removed all the wood.

Description of Work: His estimate was 3-4 times another which I received. He said he would have to bring in a large crane, reason fot high cost, which might damage my driveway. Service I went with got job done in 55 minutes with a simple bucket truck. Feel like Protree was definitely trying to oversell their services.

+ -1 moreJohn and crew epitomize professionalism. Not only are they very efficient they also operate it in very organized way. Ropes and tools are constantly being stored when they are not being used, limbs are being moved to chipper steadily, etc. They are very safety conscious and everyone wears hard hats, hearing protection, and safety vests. Our project involved one very large tree that was only a few feet from our house. They took it out with surgical precision and even used a large crane to safely dismantle the trunk and some large limbs that were over the house. I watched a lot of the work and at no time did they not look like they were in complete control. Everything about them instills confidence. I genuinely admire people who do their craft, and conduct their business at this level. This is the A-Team!
Description of Work: Removal of a large Hemlock tree almost 48 inches in diameter, and two smaller trees.

I learned more about the company by going to their excellent website. John answered emails to the site promptly, so it was a good way to communicate. He and his three workers were extremely well organized and efficient, removed branches and trees very carefully, and cleaned up well. At the same time, they were all very courteous and a pleasure to work with. They worked hard and finished by two in the afternoon. I was grateful for being in such good hands, and would hire them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Removal of four large white pine and three small trees in close space between my house and community pool.

When they took down a couple dead trees they took the chips from the trees and they gave them to students at Warren Wilson College who used them for experiments in environmental studies; they call it composting. They also used some around the dining hall. It’s a very good way to dispose of those chips. The price isn’t high but there are people that do this type of thing cheaper. That wasn’t what we were aiming for.
Description of Work: We use Pro Tree Care for our trees. He is a tree-taker-downer. He has special equipment that allows him to quickly trim the trees; most companies don’t use this equipment. He was here a month ago to take down a couple trees and to trim some others.

+ -1 moreJohn Parmenter of Pro Tree Care and his team are AWESOME! After receiving our estimate and giving him the go ahead, he was at our home in about one week. He called the night before to notify us of the time that he would arrive and he was on time. He was very professional and it was amazing to watch him and his team at work. They were very skilled at bringing down huge limbs and the main base of the trees with efficiency and preciseness. They were careful not to damage any of my plants that might have been in their way and they cleaned up totally before they left. John went above and beyond what we expected, his prices were excellent and we would recommend him and his team very highly.
Description of Work: We had a huge Poplar tree and a huge Sweet Cherry tree removed. Both trees were rotten at their bases and in danger of falling. Both stumps of these trees were removed with the stump grinder. We also had a Maple tree and Oak tree trimmed off of the roof.

I'm grateful to all other member's who commented on ProTree Care's service. In addition to the overall performance, ProTree Care is priced extremely well for services rendered. I would not hesitate to use his services in the future. I highly recommend that anyone looking for tree service contact John Parmenter. Many of the neighbors commented on both the efficiency of their operation and the high standard of clean up performed after the cutting was finished. John Parmenter and the ProTree Care team are an impressive group. The ProTree Care team is committed to doing what's right for the environment and to delivering high quality customer service.
Description of Work: Outstanding, professional, safety conscious, fairly priced service for work on two oak trees. ProTree Care removed a diseased white oak tree and pruned a scarlet oak. It was a very impressive operation. The white oak was approximately 60 feet tall, 70+ years old with an estimated weight of 10 tons. The tree was cut down due to a fungus growing at the base. It was estimated that this fungus may have been the result of prior damage due to construction work and possibly tree topping that was done decades earlier. Prior to the start of the job, John Parmenter discussed the safest and most economical approach. The equipment used for this job included a 35 ton boom truck and a chipper. John cut each limb and cable tied the limb to the boom lines. The boom hoisted the limb over the house and positioned it in the area of the chipper. ProTree Care personnel guided the limbs into the chipper. In addition to removing the white oak, work was done on a scarlet oak. The scarlet oak limbs were getting too close to the house. The limbs leading toward the house were reduced, sprout growth was reduced and repairs were made to old stub cuts. A truly OUTSTANDING job from start to finish.

The removed a locust and an overgrown arborvitae, then worked to remove branches from a large oak and poplar. They worked carefully and removed material to be chipped as they worked around the house. They carefully cleaned up all small branches from the roof of the house and the surrounding lawn. I was extremely impressed with their skill and diligence and would recommend them unequivocally to anyone needing tree trimming or tree removal.
