Description of Work: Greg arrived on time per our arrangement. He spoke to us about what he would be doing, and what wasn't included. He went about his inspection with thoroughness and whenever he needed to point out anything he would tell us. He took about 2 1/2 hours to finish the inspection, and then went over it with us, pointing out anything that needed immediate attention. He finished his inspection at about 2pm, and we had a very detailed report (54 pages) by 8am the next day via email that included photos he had taken during the inspection. Greg was very friendly and personable, and we felt quite confident in his assessment. We would highly recommend him to anybody considering a home inspection.

Description of Work: Greg Peterson showed up promptly, studied the house and situation thoroughly, explained how the company would address the problem and left a final radon measurement kit to insure the levels were what we had tested. He sent a very professional proposal which we accepted. Scheduling installation was easy and they worked with our calendar. He and an associate showed up on-time, were very professional and mindful of keeping the installation clean. They put work cloths down everywhere they were. They worked thoroughly and quickly with no "goof off" time. Their installation was very unobtrusive and well done. We could not even tell they had been at our home other than the tubing for the mitigation. A final professional radon tracking was conducted and we were presented an hour by hour reading of radon. The reduction was quite dramatic and pleasing.

Took more time to explain things to me than he probably wanted to but, was very patient and thorough. The report was very extensive, done right away, available on the web for the seller and myself to view within one day after the inspection. ALL my dealings with Greg were so wonderful. He volunteered that I could email him or call him, which I did and he got back to me right away via email. I recommend him without hesitation.

Description of Work: An active, single access point, sub slab depressurization radon mitigation system was installed and thorough testing was completed. An walk through and detailed estimate was provided. All questions were answered in an open, honest and profession fashion. The house already had an access point that was stubbed up during construction. Using that access point, the draw was tested from various points by putting a suction device at the primary point then drilling small holes and testing the level of suction. After testing the draw at each location, the holes were filled and basically unnoticeable. Based on the assessment of draw at the various test points, the mitigator is able to determine the required number of access points, estimate the potential radon reduction, and detail any contingency measures that may need to be performed. In our instance there was sufficient pull throughout the slab that a single access point was all that was needed. Meridian then sealed all accessible cracks, filled any open holes and attempted to make the slab as tight as possible. The actual mitigation system was installed with PVC piping, aesthetically routed in the mechanical room, up and out through an exterior wall to a mechanical ventilation unit and then up along the rear side of the house and above the roof line (downspout pipe, as allowed for by code, was used from the mechanical ventilation unit and provided consistency from an aesthetic viewpoint). A manometer was installed on the interior piping such that it was easy to determine if the unit was operating. A professional grade radon detection device was left in the basement level for a number of days subsequent to the installation. Strict instructions were provided to keep the area as closed as possible to identify the highest level of concentration that would accumulate (typically the lowest floor has the highest radon levels). The print out of the results were provided on the spot (which showed a reading of under 1 PC/l - a dramatic difference!) and a formal report was provided by Meridian.
