Frugal Framer

I've had about 20 prints framed over the years by Frugal Framers. All of them were limited edition prints that go up in value overtime. I explained this to the shop and how careful they had to be with the prints.... they assured me that the prints would be well taken care of and not damaged in any way. Recently, I've seen the prices rise for the prints I've had framed and decided to sell them to collecters. I've went to take them out of the frame to ship and to my surprise all the prints are all glued to a foam backing. Thousands of dollars worth of collectible prints ruined. They look good framed, but are essentially worthless to any collector. I had to return all the buyers money after finding out the posters where ruined.

We went to the shop on Hendersonville Road. I believe the person that helped us was named "Terry." The suggestions that he made for the matting material and the color/material for the new frames were perfect! Cost was less than what we were expecting when we first went into the shop. The gentleman that waited on us was patient and had an excellent eye for color and style. He was very careful with both items, which we really appreciated since we could never replace them. We will definitely use Frugal Framers again.

I have used Frugal Framer for over 20 years for everything from diplomas to kid's art work to antique prints. They have always been very nice, did the work as requested and communicated when needed. More importantly, they are enthusiastic about the pieces they framed, keep excellent records of the way they framed things in the past, and always greet with a smile. The records are important so that the mats/frames/size can be matched if I bring in something new.

I love this place. Jerome is a delight to work with--very knowledgeable and helpful. I have gone to them for about 6 months now to have my photos matted, and am very pleased with price and service.

and I'd called for specialty item others who did not carry recommended that Frugal Framer would, It was near closing and I called, told him what i needed, said he did carry those, so i said i would hurry. stated it was for my setup for a show--i pulled up minutes after closing time, but he came around to the car, verified i was same woman who called, heard what i was using the picture hanging elements for --said he did have it and would i mind waiting? of course i would wait! He was going in to the store to get them --came out with numbers i had indicated would suffice for now and wished me well in the show. no payment required. What service and what a gentleman! he is the owner, i did not catch the name--sorry,

Great they spent a lot of time with us picking out the best frame we could agree on. The finished product was exceptional and it was done in a timely manner.

THey were delightful and affordable, but the finished product is very lumpy and looks quite bad when interior lighting makes shadows on it . . . it must not have been pinned adequately. I have seen and purchased MUCH BETTER framing of embroidery FULL DISCLOSURE-I have not yet addressed this with them, as I think it is irreversable and might cause some destruction to the piece. I wouldn't hesitate to use them for picture framing, but I might look elsewhere for cloth framing.

Looked through their frame collection, which is very nice and expansive. The young lady helped me pick out mats and knowing that I wanted to keep the price down, selected frames to try that were within my price goal. We tried various mats and frames, and for one piece decided to keep the original mat. The price is a very good value. The pieces of art were taken out of the frames and mats removed so she could better determine the art size. From there we went to mat selection and then frame. While waiting for the art to be removed from frame I looked at their nice selection of pre-framed art. It was well done as to quality of the entire framing job. Lots of local Asheville art.

They are just so wonderful it is off the charts. They do a superb job and the people are so knowledgeable. They guy who owns it, he knows more about framing and the history of all kinds of things that are related. He has helped me find resources for restoration of old photographs and other kinds of things. He's helped me find somebody to clean and restore a painting that my grandmother did. They always do what they say they are going to do, very professional.
