Contracted to build house. Upon signing my construction loan I told Jim he needed to wait until the bank approved the construction loan before he started anything (builder signs construction plan before loan is approved by the bank and these doc.s are submitted to the bank with the loan). Fortunately, I wrote into Jim's contract that the loan would be null and void if the bank did not approve the loan. He started the project without approval; grading and ordered all the windows! The loan was rejected. (I should have dropped him and found another builder at this point realizing he doesn't listen ). I reapplied for a different kind of construction loan and was kind enough to let Jim stay on. The process was always strained and although I was his only project at the time it was extremely difficult to meet with him at the house to review the project and he often would ignore any of my requests. The generator was installed backwards, (lost full warrenty), installed an inside electric panal on the outside of the house, the on demand water heater was rigged to look like it was working, but wasn't, I had to fix house drainage as soon as I moved in, he changed the design of 2 bathroom windows (said that's how he would like them) even though I told him several times to not change them. As soon as I moved in I spent hours repairing mistakes and drainage around the house. To this day, some of the outlets and outdoor lights are still not working. Worst of all his book keeping was highly questionable and he even had a Sub come to collect money from me, after the bank made the final payment to Jim. Fortunately, I was able to show the Sub that Jim had signed off with the bank for his final dispursement and he checked off on his receipt of final funds, that all Subs had been paid in full. I would not recommend this builder.

The experience turned out very well. I noticed the difference in the house, and it was a warm winter. There was one corner of my house, where my desk is located, and I was not comfortable, and putting in the insulation really helped. I thought the price was expensive. There wasn't always somebody on the site where there was somebody in charge, and I am used to contractors with someone in charge on site. They were professional, and they were here at 8 in the morning everyday.
Description of Work: We used Demos Builders. They put a new roof, and they pumped insulation into the walls.
