Carpenters Guild - Design/Build Services

Description of Work: Tore down existing deck and replaced with a proper foundation and sub-structure and added a larger deck and supported wooden trellis. Quality of work was excellent, professional attitude by carpenters on the job and given that our residence is out of this persons area we were pleased by his promptness and daily arrival and departure. The overall cost was higher then we had planned, in part because of the distance and the nature of the materials I requested and the effort in supplying that material, however, the workmanship and final result were excellent, so, the cost for us became a none issue. This work was done in a timely manner, the carpenters were easy to work with and to have on site, there were no major issues with the job so we have no experience working with them through a problem. All mistakes were on me and not the carpenters. After a year there were changes to the deck that I wanted to make and I contacted the Guild but they were busy with other work at the time and I was anxious to complete the changes promptly so we didn't work with them again.

Description of Work: Th Carpenters Guild worked with me and My wife to build a 940 square foot addition on to our existing home in Haw Creek. Ted Nash, the owner, consulted on the design ideas we had and helped us make appropriate decisions that gave us the grand feel we wanted without going over our budget. We added a 27x24 foot great room and master bedroom/ bath/ closet area, a new front entry, side deck and screened porch. The company drew the permit drawings, and oversaw the complete building process. The addition encroached into the main house and a 12 x24 section of roof was removed to tie the great room into existing kitchen and LR. This was a challenge as we were living in the house during the building process with our 2 year old son. The contractor was excellent about predicting how we would be inconvienienced and helped to make it as good as could be by working quickly and keeping the site clean, safe. The product is tremendous and we are proud to live in the result. We decided to change windows in the Laundry room and to reside the entire house with hardiboard siding and cedar shingles in the gables during the process. The company was extremely flexible when changes were made and, in fact, suggested better solutions than we had first decided upon, without gutting us for added money
