BUD ROBERTS PLUMBING

I have used Bud in the past he installed previous hot water heater so I gave him the call. Bud does not do the work anymore due to age had his nephew come out. Was quoted a price by Bud not having a clue as to cost of units went with it. My mistake. Wrong height heater was installed, i caught his nephew just as he was ready to soulder pipes, unit was on floor, this was a no no as basement floods. He said if you have a problem give me a call. He should have asked why it was on blocks to start with/or measured the old one and gotten the correct size. I did offer him a tape measure and he said no he knew what size to get. I gave him lower blocks to set it on. In the meantime I had contacted the place the unit came from and got the price on it. Figured real cost of unit and current per hour rate for plumber I was grossly overcharged. I tried to contact Bud about this with no success, and call not returned. Nephew still here. I left before work was done due to an appointment. Spoke with Bud about overcharge next day and got that taken care of. A day or two go by and I get into basement and check over unit before sending check. It is not properly vented, it is a gas unit and very important to be vented right. Call Bud, nephew comes back puts on lower blocks. I ask where manual is, says it was attached to unit, I must have taken it off. I never saw it, it is probably still in box that was taken away. Have still not sent check.....waiting for manual. Incompetence all the way, and too much of my time wasted. Not happy. Last thing about charges...I was basically billed for the heater and the time for two so called plumbers for 3 hours. There was only one so called plumber doing a bad job.

Bud has been a plumber for years and has assistants that help him on jobs. He called me within an hour of my leaving a message and dispatched a plumber to my house before the end of the day to diagnose a leak under my house. Bud showed up to double check the work and to make sure his assistants were on the job. They replaced the valve and he even called the next day to check that the work was done correctly. He charged $70 for about 1-1/2 hour of work including parts. Really good deal.
