This company cares nothing for their employee’s. They will use and abuse you for cheap pay and kick you to the curb when done without any explanation. They perform mediocre work at best and charge premium prices for the work. Look closely at your bill.

I have been a customer for almost 10 years – NO MORE! My recent attempt to get my chiller repaired resulted in overcharges (initially billed for truck flat tire repair) – attempt #1 . The next fix- attempt #2 - had left a very noisy unit that failed in a couple of days. The third “fix” had an estimated part cost alone of $3600+ This exact same make & model part was bid by three authorized suppliers at under $990 – retail. They are no longer my service provider - I have a DO NOT use recommendation.

Marvelous !! Bolton had re-done all the electric in my house and I decided to give them a try at heating/air. They were great at talking with me about my heating and air needs. I was provided an excellent education on why the vents, etc. had to be where they were put and had to be the size they were going to be, etc. Very nice heating/air technicians and duct constructors worked in my home, ones I felt comfortable having in my home with my son and daughter there The team worked together to make the vents as inconspicuous as possible The team didn't tromp all through my home while we were there, they scheduled the work in the living space around our coming and going (yes, we lived there while the project was being done) and worked in the basement and outside when we were needed privacy upstairs At all times, I, a woman was treated with respect although I know I asked ridiculous questions Any/all “up-selling” was for items that would increase the safety, efficiency, attractiveness of the project Everything was done in the time frame promised - out by Thanksgiving dinner :) The bill was settled AFTER the work was determined to be satisfactory BOLTON can expect my business for all projects here on out, we've already talked about water-proofing and fixing up my basement Interestingly, some "other" company had come out to look previously and wouldn't give an estimate, saying it would be too high, I guess that they figured I might not be able to afford them. Oh well, they are out thousands of dollars and my recommendation.

Purchased a through the wall air conditioner in October after being assured Bolton could do the necessary work to remove old unit and install new unit and do necessary electrical work. I was told that the work would be done in a couple of weeks. I complained on November 10 that the work still had not been scheduled, and was told that the job would be worked in between other jobs. On December 8 I finally heard that Bolton wanted to schedule the work for December 11. I notified Bolton that the work had already been completed by someone else.

I used Bolton because they have done previous plumbing, electrical and gas work at the house. They can handle most trade work and coordinate scheduling -- a big help since I live 120 miles away. I accepted time-and-materials contracts, rather than estimates, because of the uncertainties in working on a house built in 1929. The work was done well and cost less than anticipated. Their hourly rates seem about mid- to high-level but worth it to work with professionals. Bottom line, I would hire Bolton again in a minute.

An employee of the company came out to provide an estimate on replacing an existing oil furnace, upgrading the electrical, and installing central heat & air. I told him what we were wanting and he walked around our house but did not look inside the crawl space where the current furnace is, and took no measurements. When I asked him about this, he stated that he had been "doing this" for decades and didn't need to take any measurements. He didn't provide any information about the kinds of systems they install, or tell us anything about what he thought we would need. After being here for less than 10 minutes, he said he would email me an estimate and left. We never heard back from him or any other representative from the company and never received the estimate.

The plumber showed up in the evening to help clear out our clogged kitchen drain that was causing our basement shower and sinks to overflow. He did a good job clearing the drain but I wouldn't use his company again based on how they charged for the service. He counted his drive to our house as part of the fee including his gas and he charged for the use of his machine to clear the drain.. Won't be calling Bolton to help out with plumbing issues.

The total cost included parts. The workers were very good. They came when they said they were going to for most parts. I felt confident in whatever they did and I knew it would pass codes, so when the inspector came and checked everything there were no problems. I have no clue how they compare to any other electricians in pricing but I was prepared to pay whatever they charged. They were a nice bunch of folks.
Description of Work: I used Bolton Construction & Service of WNC, Inc. for some extensive electrical work in my home. When I bought the house, I used them to change a few electrical boxes. They last took down the track lighting in the kitchen and installed six pot lights. They put three closet lights in the closets. They put in new light fixtures in my bathroom and they took out two to three electric sockets and upgraded those to current ones.

It went well, but at some point I felt the friendly technician was a little too chatty, since I was paying $90/hour. They did a great job, and I'd use them again, but I would not engage with them quite so much. Also, they had to leave twice to rent a jack hammer and then back to the shop to get a box to put around the new reducer; I paid full rate for both of those trips. I was worried I needed to replace my entire water main to the house, but they evaluated it and told me I did not need to. That would have cost a couple thousand dollars, and I was pleased they were frank with their assessment.

Drain pipes were corregated and they said routering wouldn't work and would tear up pipes. I went ahead out of hope, but they were right--one worked, two didn't. TheY charged reasonably for their time, however my house was within 2 miles of their base and they charged a significant fuel surcharge which I felt a bit excessive. A foreman had come out before the router team and evaluated my drains and pipes. After the routering had failed (as they had suggested it would), I asked for an estimate for putting in new drain pipes to the street. I was given a written estimate based on what the foreman remembered, which was incorrect in the number of drains involved, etc. I had expected a visit to discuss specifics regarding the job, but that didn't happen. Price also seemed a bit high, and they mentioned that they would use a 12 inch backhoe to dig the trenches. I was concerned that this was so wide that it would damage tree roots and tear up more yard than necessary for a 4 inch pipe. I ended up using another contractor that used a DitchWitch type machine that dug a minimal 5 inch trench and didn't cut tree roots (these were dug under by hand). This trenching went extremely well, but the rest of the job is another story about another contractor... Bolton had also come out to router my main sewer pipe to the street the year previous. They were very good and charged a very fair price. ALL IN ALL, I FEEL BOLTON IS GOOD AND FAIR AS A CONTRACTOR FOR PLUMBING, BUT YOU NEED TO WATCH THE DETAILS IN THE BIDS FOR LARGER PROJECTS (THAT THEY MAY CONSIDER SMALL).
Description of Work: Attempted to router corregated gutter drain pipes (against their advice). I gambled, and they were right.

Job was done professionally and efficiently. Bolton is one of only a few on the list of plumbers pre-approved by Progress Energy to install hybrid water heaters. This pre-approval is required to get the Progress rebate, currently worth $350. The water heater is expensive and I wanted someone who had installed them before. The Bolton people were quite friendly and reasonable. I decided to buy through them rather than through Lowe's or Sears. Two men spent three or so hours on the job. This included all required plumbing and electrical work including running a condensate line through a block wall to the outside. Everything was done carefully and correctly. It seems to me that if you buy one of these new types of water heater and want a rebate, your main decision will be whether to buy at Lowes or Sears and get Bolton to install it, which they are happy to do, or get the whole thing as a turnkey job, which they are happier to do since they get some mark-up on the heater. I found little to no difference in cost to do the latter, but there was a several-day delay in getting the water heater. We exchanged paperwork by email, which sped things up a bit.
Description of Work: Purchased and installed GE Geospring Hybrid hot water heater. Drained and removed old heater. Bolton rerouted plumbing, replaced one valve, installed pressure relief tank, got building permit, arranged for inspector.

This was a frustrating problem for Bolton and us alike. None of the obvious solutions worked. The Bolton team, led by Ronnie Brock, stayed with the troubleshooting process until the solution was found. Several problems were detected and resolved before the culprit device was identified and replaced. Since the service was completed, the heater has performed flawlessly with better control than when initially installed. All of the Bolton plumbing technicians were courteous, professional and prompt. They were also diligent by not giving up until the problem was resolved.
Description of Work: This was service on a Rainnai tankless hot water heater. The heater worked, but shut off during operation without warning. Bolton sent four techinicians (including a factory rep.) over a period of two months to solve the problem. Several modifications to the heater were made which helped, but did solve the problem. Finally a Bolton technician on the telephone with a factory engineer performed a series of diagnostic tests to locate the faulty control device. A new part was ordered and installed and the water heater was restored to original performance.

From initial estimate to final test run of the standby generator, Bolton did an outstanding and very professional job. Their estimate was neither the highest or lowest we received among other electrical contractors, but their professionalism and knowledge far exceeded that of their competition. Dan Taylor at Bolton was our primary contact through the project and provided our initial estimate. Dan was very patient and listened to what our needs were and worked with my wife and I in regards to a favorable location for the generator and transfer switch. When our house was built two years ago, the electrician that wired the house did not wire our two heat pump units and double oven into our existing breaker panel in the basement. Since our 200 amp panel was full, apparently the electrican at the time decided to place these three appliances to a manual cut-off switch that was located on the outside of the home. Now, I know that I am not an electrician, but how hard would it have been to place a smaller breaker panel beside the other panel to wire in these appliances so we could access their breaker from inside the home? Anyways, Dan quickly provided a solution to connect the heat pump units and double oven to another breaker box in the basement. The point of this is that even though we encountered potential issues prior to beginning the project, not at one time did Dan say "we can't do that" or "that's not possible." Dan, and his very courteous and hard-working assistant, Robert, even had to move the extremely heavy double-oven in order to rewire it correctly to the new panel. Dan was also very helpful in helping us decide which size of generator we needed so that we did not spend more money than was needed but also to ensure we had the back-up coverage we felt comfortable with. With our first child on the way in the next few weeks, we decided to to go with the 45kW unit so that we could run the whole house without having to worry about overloading the generator's capacity or having to cut off one appliance to run another. It was evident from the get-go that Dan was very knowledgeable concerning generator installation and operation. The installation of the generator and breaker panel went according to the schedule given to us and we were told well in advance when someone would need to be present to have access into the home. Considering that both my wife and I work very non-traditional schedules, I felt they were very flexible in regards to working around our availability. Bolton took care of getting all of the required permits and inspections through the process. The generator and panel were both installed with minimal impact to the surrounding landscaping and interior of the basement and cleaned up after themselves in the process. We decided to go ahead and purchase the extended 5 year warranty which I feel is a good value for the money and since I know that Bolton will be doing the maintenance and any needed repairs on the generator going forward. We are happy to have made this decision. Moreover, I whole-heartedly recommend Bolton for any of your electrical repair or installation needs. One important thing to note here is that Bolton also has their own in-house gas specialists so I did not need to hire an additional contractor to do the propane hook-up. Please keep this in mind if in the market for a generator as many electricians will not do the gas hook-up and you will be required to get someone else to do it at an additional cost. Call Dan Taylor at Bolton if you need any electrical work done and I know that you will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: Installation of 45kW permanent emergency standby generator including an automatic transfer switch and hookup to existing underground propane line. In addition, Bolton also put in an extra breaker panel in our basement and connected both our 2 heat pump units and double oven to that panel.

Description of Work: We had a water pipe burst with flooding. After finding W. E. Bolton on Angie's List, we called and their staff was here within an hour and were able, in short order, to find the cause of the flooding. They checked out the house to get a clear understanding of the scope of the problem, cut a small area in the drywall to access the pipe, cut and sealed the pipe and left everything clean and ready for the restoration team to come for next steps. The staff were courteous, professional, quick and a pleasure to work with.

They gave us an estimate. They were not the highest or lowest but we chose them because of the reputation. They were here when they said they would be. They came out and did the job. The quality control was good. The manager checked the job about two times and then when the job was done he checked it again. He found a couple fittings that were not to his standards, and he had his crew redo that job in the area. They are professional and hassle free. We thought they were good company.

The first plumber that came was sort of aside, but the second guy that they sent out was great. The minute he sees or touches something, he knows what is wrong with it. He explained to me what he was doing, which I appreciated. He rebuilt the toilet and now it works like a charm. I have had dealings with this company before and the service as always been good. As far as I am concerned it was the person who did the work that made my experience with the company a positive one. His name was Tony Turner. There were a number of things about him that I really liked.
Description of Work: I had a toilet repaired by this company and within a few days it was leaking again, so they sent someone back out to fix it. He totally disassembled the toilet and rebuilt it. All of the seals were in bad shape. I also asked them to adjust the pressure valve in my sink, so that my water pressure would be stronger. The valve was clogged up, so they had to install a new one. I had them replace the pick piping under my sink as well. When they put in the new pressure valve, they showed me the one that they took off and said that it was all jammed up.
