+ -1 moreMy wife was home, I was at work. The installer (Josh Carpenter) came by, picked up the parts I had laid out for him, and completed the job in 45 minutes. Nicely done, and then my wife asked how much we owed. "Your husband and I agreed on $200", which really floored my wife, since the job had been so easy and straightforward. She paid the $200. I calculate that Josh made himself about $250/hour for that job, a bit exorbitant. I guess next time, ask how long the job will take, then calculate at perhaps $80/hour, what a good mechanic's garage might make. Ya want the expertise ya gotta pay, but what is reasonable?
Description of Work: We have a top-of-the-line Crown Brunswick billiard table. When we moved to town, we had it assembled, but installed plastic pockets and left off the ball return hardware. Now that we're selling our home, we decided it would be best to have a complete table. I called Best Billiards and asked about the ball return assembly installation. The fellow quoted $200, without telling me how long it would take to do the job. I assumed it would be $200 well spent, so I agreed, and waited till the installation day.
