Terrible experience. If you enjoy paying to be talked down too and made to feel worthless this is the place for you. The only Doctors office who when they get it wrong lash out at you and make it your fault because their right and your wrong and they will put it that way. Sorry the loss of hearing doesn't fit your magical bubble but if I can't hear your test then I would hear it. Do your unprofessional workers think people enjoy tinnitus and hearing loss. Do you people think it a fun to live this way!! Paying my own money with nothing to gain from anyone to be insulted and cheated. Recommend avoiding these non compassionate non professional people.

Took a very long time to before I could get an appointment even though I said I was having constant pain, that the pain was frequently severe, and had been going on for 2 months. I had to wait more than a month from the time I called. First thing that happened when the doctor came in the room is he questioned whether I was telling the truth about my symptoms - without doing any kind of examination first. He accused me of "changing your story." I asked for an explanation. He said I told one person I had pain on the left side of my head, and told another person I had pain in my left ear. I told him that my left ear was on the left side of my head and went on to mention the other areas on the left side of my head where I had pain. He looked in my ear. He felt my neck. He sprayed my nose, explaining it was a decongestant and anesthetic, walked out, came back 10 minutes later, told me to tilt my head so he could look in my nose, and pushed a tube into my left nostril, and all the way down into my throat, without explaining that what he was doing was an laryngoscopy. He did not look at my right nostril. I only found out that this was an laryngoscopy when I got the bill for over $300 for this procedure that took maybe a minute. He pushed the laryngoscope down rapidly, pulled it out rapidly, and it hurt. I yelled out in pain; he did not apologize for hurting me. He felt a lump in my neck and mentioned it. He ordered a CT scan of my neck, which he said showed nothing, however the radiologist report said I had 2 enlarged lymph nodes and, referring to my salivary gland, said that "there was an area of marked abnormality in the left submandibular region." I contacted his office again to say I was still having pain. He ordered a biopsy of one enlarged lymph node. I got a call from the hospital saying to make an appointment for Dr Seal to do a biopsy, and eventually I got a bill for a biopsy, indicating it was done by Dr Seal, however when I arrived for the biopsy, the person that showed up to do it was a physician's assistant. Dr Seal said that the biopsy showed nothing, and that nothing needed to be done, and that if I was still having pain he would refer me to a neurologist, however the pathologist's report said "Reaspiration for flow cytometric evaulation should be considered if this patient has persistent or progressive lymphadenopathy." When I left a message on their web site saying I was still having pain, and also congestion, the woman that called me just said "doctor Seal says there is nothing wrong and recommends you see a neurologist." She wouldn't answer any of my specific questions, such as if there is nothing wrong, why does it hurt whenever I drive in hills, or whenever I'm in an airplane that lands, why is my ear congested, why do I have a hearing loss in my left ear, why is there a pressure differential between my 2 ears, and why has the pain been going on for over 6 months. I was told that doctor Seal suggests you use over-the-counter Afrin Nasal spray. Apparently he didn't read the medicine list that they had asked me to provide, because on it I had Afrin nasal spray listed as one of the medications I was already taking. About 5 or 6 months after the pain started I started hearing loud pulsing noises in my left ear and sent a message via their web site to tell them. They ordererd an mra of my cranium (to view blood vessels) and an mri (to view brain). I was unable to complete the mri portion as the noise from the mri machine was so loud it hurt, even with the foam ear plugs. The next day Dr Seal's office called to say the mri showed nothing wrong. I mentioned that I didn't actually complete the MRI that Dr Seal ordered, just the MRA. The person just repeated that Dr Seal says nothing is wrong and refused to explain how Dr Seal could order an MRI and conclude from the MRI that nothing was wrong, even though I didn't actually get an MRI. I'm waiting for the radiologist to mail the report. I was told by the radiologist's office that there is no report regarding the MRI, because it wasn't completed, so Dr Seal's assistant's assertion that he reviewed the MRI and it showed nothing was wrong was obviously a falsehood. After I contacted them again by on their web site, saying I was still having pain, I got a call asking me to not send them any more messages. I sent them another message apologizing for contacting them again, and adding that my ear still hurt and that my primary care physician and both my dentist and the neurologist said it seemed like a problem for an otolaryngologist, for an ear-nose-throat doctor. Then I put up my review on Angie's list. 2 days later they removed my username and password so that I could not send them any more messages via their web site, and so that I could not access my medical records via their web site either. Meanwhile, the pain, the congestion in my ear, and the pulsing noises are getting worse. The pulsing noises are waking me up often and preventing me from getting sleep. I did see a neurologist that Dr Seal referred me to, who did a thorough exam, and he did not find anything wrong, and said that from my description of the symtoms, it did not sound like anything neurological was wrong. He recommended I see an otolaryngologist, an ear-nose-throat doctor.
Description of Work: I was having pain on the left side, on the side of head, in my ear, pinna, upper teeth, throat, neck, sinuses, eye, etcetera, for 3 1/2 months. Also congestion in ear. Pain in ear was worse when driving in hills, landing in an airplane.

Description of Work: My internist referred me to this group for a suspected sinus infection. Dr. Seal was brisk and prescribed prednisone. The day after completing the course of prednisone all my symptoms returned. Upon calling dr. Seal's office, I was told just to continue with My nasal spray. (I feel dr. Seal was remiss and should have ordered a CT scan to determine or confirm my diagnosis. After several days, I returned to my internist who did order the CT scan for the oboe reasons. The scan confirmed serious sinus infection, put me on a longer dose of Prednisone , plus an AB, and referred me back to an ENT doctor. Needless to say, I refused to see Dr. Seal and went to another doctor, who was fabulous. (Dr. Lang) | |Regarding office scheduling: not thorough and short, rude.

Description of Work: When scheduling appointments, she did not listen to my concerns. Requested that I bring a CD of my CT scan to my appointment. I stated that they should have online access to my scan since it was preformed at Asheville Imaging. She had to put me on hold to ask if their office, in fact, had access. Honestly, shouldn't she have know this? I wondered how many patients make an extra trip to request an unnecessary CD.

The appointment went very well. The office staff was courteous and professional. The appointment began with hearing tests conducted by the audiologist. She explained every step of the process, was very thorough and communicated very well. She explained the results of the hearing test and then I waited a few minutes to see Dr. Moore. None of the waits were long. Dr. Moore was very personable and obviously skilled. He listened, explained the various possibilities, discussed what the next steps would be. He did not act rushed and asked whether I had any other questions. Everything about the appointment was excellent. I do not yet know the effectiveness of the treatment, because we are still in the investigation phase. However, the doctor and the office have been diligent in following up, advising the results of test done to date and scheduling the next step. Also, I don't know yet about billing or administration, but believe it will be excellent. The office had confirmed my insurance information and there has been no problem to date. My only complaint about the office and appointment is the initial wait for the appointment was very long. Then a couple of weeks before my scheduled appointment, the office called to reschedule the appointment because the doctor was going to be on vacation. So I waited several more weeks. Further I made the original appointment in Hendersonville. I did not know that the rescheduled appointment was in the Asheville office until the office called the week of the appointment to confirm it. I went ahead with the Asheville appointment because I did not want to wait even longer for a Hendersonville appointment.

Dr. Melvin was very kind and actually funny and really had me laughing. Definitely good bedside manner. After my examination he concluded that I needed a septoplasty and we actually scheduled it on the spot. I ended up not doing the surgery as I wanted to get a second opinion and didn't have the money. But, I respect his opinion and if DO get the surgery I will definitely go back and get it from him.
Description of Work: I was referred to Dr. Melvin by urgent care dr due to chronic throat and sinus infections. I saw him only for one appointment.

Now this may sound painful, but it WAS NOT. He administered anti-inflammatory injections in my nose, directly into the polyps. (He also prescribed antibiotics, nasal spray and lavage. Now, the only difference I can see between the G.P.'s treatment and Dr. Seal's, was the shot, but I am not a doctor.) The trick to this is to CLOSE YOUR EYES. Dr. Seal has a steady hand, and a nasal spray to numb the area was used just prior to the injection. Within a few days, I could smell, I could taste, and the inflammation and nasal irritation were gone. Hats-off Dr. Seal! Just in time for the holidays!
Description of Work: I have been suffering from a continuous sinus infection and allergies, since about February of this year. I have been treated by my G.P. and Asthma specialist over this time frame, who put me on rounds of antibiotics and nasal sprays. I also have been doing a nasal lavage every day with sea salt. All to no avail. The most frustrating part of all this was that I could not smell or taste. Nothing, for months. It has been a pretty bland existence, food-wise. I saw Dr. Seal a few weeks ago, and after a physical exam of my sinuses, he saw that there was a good deal of inflammation and some small nasal polyps, located directly on top of my olfactory nerves. Dr. Seal has a very calm personality, with a wonderful, dry sense of humor.

Dr. Ronald Lane was thorough, conscientious, and pleasant in his examination of the patient, his explanation of the problem, and his proposed treatment. He took the time to make sure we understood exactly what to do at home, and when the problem was resolved, he gave advice on prevention for the future. A very satisfying professional.

A good experience in the midst of a most difficult time
Description of Work: Referred here from primary physician. Dr. Moore met with us, ordered testing, diagnosed a serious malignancy after doing a biopsy and referred us on to a University Medical Center. He was thorough, compassionate and willing to admit that the surgery was beyond the capability of local resources. He was straightforward and informative. We are forever grateful to him for his attention and insistence that we go to the wonderful physician and facility to which he sent us. Without hesitation we would refer family and friends to him.

He is really good. I've had nine ear surgeries, and the last one was through Dr. Rainey. I can hear better than anybody because of him, he changed my life. He's really sweet and he takes his time with you without rushing you. He makes you feel comfortable when you go into surgery. When he's examining you he will tell you what he's going to do so you know what to expect.
Description of Work: Dr. Rainey is my doctor here. He found a lump on my neck and I needed an ultrasound. He had me sent right away.
