One of the major concerns, when you move to another State is finding new key service providers. How fortunate are we to have found Sabastian and Appliance Zen. We are truly in an "om" state after using their service. Our oven stopped heating up and Sabastian not only found the problem on the circuit board but was able to repair it. "Nobody" does circuit board-level repairs. My past experience has been that a service provider would just say, "sorry, you have to replace the entire board assembly." At greater expense. But not Appliance Zen. The other issue with the oven was that it was running 25 degrees hotter than the temp we set. That turned out to be an easy adjustment. No repair needed. Lastly, our dishwasher was also acting up - not cleaning all of the dishes on the bottom rack - and Sabastian determined what was wrong, but after checking the prices of replacement parts, factoring in labor and the age of the unit, he recommended against the high cost of repair and to just replace the unit. Beyond the excellent service, Sabastian is just a badass guy to be around. Great conversation and great technical skills. What more can you ask for? Appliance repair provider found. Check that box.

I called Appliance Zen for a problem with my inoperative, stove fan. I also had a problem with my microwave, that would often shutdown, unexpectedly, when it was running. The serviceman/owner, Sebastian visited and diagnosed the problems. The fan needed a simple off/on switch replaced. The microwave needed some inexpensive parts replaced. I told Sebastian that I didn't want to put money into the microwave if it could not be effectively repaired and that I would prefer to put the money into a new unit. Sebastian assured me he knew what was wrong and could repair the microwave. He returned with parts and repaired both items. I believe the charge was $280. The fan switch was a basic repair and worked perfectly. The microwave worked for about two days, then began exhibiting the same problems. I called an left a message that the repair failed. I left multiple messages. My calls were not returned. When Sebastian finally returned my call, he told me that parts were difficult to find for my microwave but that he would find what was needed and return for the repair. That was almost two years ago. Sebastian took my money for a repair that I was reluctant to have done. He took my money and did not make the repair. A refund was never offered. Mr Sebastian is a personable individual. but he has some problems that involve competence, honesty and integrity. At no time was I rude or offensive in my calls to his business. I would like to point out that his administrative assistant, Mary, who mans the office phone, is one of the most pleasant business people I have ever encountered. God bless her. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend that you find another business to perform your repairs.

The guys were great. Our dryer, which we've had for 4 years, started working it's way out from under the counter and tipping forward. They could see that it had not bee installed correctly in th first place and very quickly remedied the problem.

Sebastian scheduled my appointment for the next morning, arrived as expected, and fixed the compactor in a timely manner. He gave me tips on things I could do myself to try to fix the issue if the compactor broke down again. This was the first time I'd called on Appliance Zen and they'll be my first stop the next time an appliance needs help.

After several visits, lots of time, and ordering special parts on his part, Sebastian was unable to fix the stove. We thought we would owe him around $700 (our estimate) for the work he had done. But since he was unable to make the repair, he said there was no charge. We were joyfully flabbergasted. I have rarely met anyone in this business with such integrity. Cheers to Appliance Zen for doing the right thing. (I had just lost my job so this was very welcome news.)
Description of Work: Sebastian came and was eager to rehab our second-hand purchase of a high-end range, American Heartland. It needed conversion to propane, and he came several times, ordered parts, and did a lot of custom work in his shop for us.

DO NOT HIRE THIS PERSON! We have been on a 6 month odyssey with Appliance Zen. I was reluctant to hire Sebastian after having had a very unprofessional encounter with him in 2013 when he repaired some appliances at my rental property. But I wanted to convert the house over to natural gas, and PSNC recommended him to do the conversion on the gas dryer. He made several visits in preparation for the actual conversion, which seemed odd. I would have thought one visit would have sufficed. Then there was a waiting game as we waited for the gas company to connect the house to the main lines. Once that happened, we had to co-ordinate 3 different repairmen to come out and do their conversions. Sebastian did not answer messages left, and was hard to pin down for a time that he would show up. It was winter and I did not want my tenants to go without heat or services, so timing was crucial. Sebastian did make it, literally at the last 2 hours before the weekend, and when he left the dryer was supposedly working. Although he was slow to respond to us and hard to reach, when it came time for payment, he was completely available. So I paid him immediately, being thankful to see the end of him. I should mention here that at different times during this first month, Sebastian refused to communicate with myself, and then my property mangers, and had problems with the tenants. At one point I called him and his explanation was that he had a terrible assistant but that he had fired her. At this point, communication went from random and frustrating to completely shut down. Back to the dryer; it was fixed, however by the next week it had stopped. He claimed that my tenants must have moved the dryer and slammed it up against the wall, breaking some other part to the dryer. But he was sure that he could fix it and the part would be ordered. Hoping that he would right his errors, we let him string us along for 3 months. My tenants were without a clothes dryer, but ironically it turns out that Sebastian hangs out at the local laundromat (perhaps it is his mobile office?), so they were able to check in with him every time they had to haul their laundry to be dried. He continued to claim that the part was on order, back-ordered, in the mail, etc. He even gave them dates that he would come by and fix the dryer, but then didn't show up or answer his phone. The people who live in my house have jobs and lives, and really should not have had to schedule their lives around someone who obviously is a liar. Finally, two weeks ago, we hired another repair person to look at the dryer and it has been deemed unrepairable, so I am left buying a new washer/dryer (it's a stacked unit and both had to be replaced). Time and money were wasted. I cannot urge you strongly enough, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!
Description of Work: Appliance Zen was recommended by PSNC as the only person in the area who can convert a LP appliance to Natural Gas. This is a precision adjustment to the fuel nozzle and requires special equipment.

We checked every part of this, We had an issue at this address that the landowner refused to resolve we were SCAMMED by the people living here. After sending a part off that the tenant knew was not bad it did in fact come back as defective and I ended up paying for a plumber and a part as well as the problem of dealing with said person. Second That is not my office, I was out working in the field. I did contact your tenants. I have just checked my Verizon bill to see how many times we did leave messages, I did also have (more than 20 calls to your property manager that NEVER RETURNED A SINGLE CALL) This is a joke and you might want to go over this again as this is slander. Your review is filled with inaccurate statements, seeing that it is one long problem and you did not contact me in the past three months (yes a part was ordered for your dryer and came in but they seem to have an off schedule) also your range was checked out and was correctly converted, also your fridge was fixed and did not seem to have any other issues ...

I called at the last minute December 23rd and Sebastian answered the phone. I told him our problem he promised to call 1st thing the next day. He called before 9 and was here within 20 minutes. He found the problem (wasn't getting cold) and recharged the freon. He was professional and personable. We would use him again in a minute. He would not take a tip for coming the day before christmas on a moments notice. Great guy!

At first they seemed ok, but a little different. I paid for parts, but it was a big struggle to get them. I believe this process started in May. To date, he still has my ice maker and I can not get a receipt for service or a repair on my ice maker. Also, I don't think he has a great understanding of Sub Zero refrigerators because I was told different stories. My freezer would vacuum pack itself, normal, but it no longer does that. It is very confusing and unprofessional with Appliance Zen. I am giving up on them; maybe i will get my ice maker back, maybe not.
Description of Work: He put his computer on the ice maker and it said everything worked. It did not. He took the ice maker and I have never seen him again. Also, he did remove the Sub Zero Refrigerator of ice build up, but to get the parts needed was a struggle. He was not prompt and only reacted to constant calls.

The technician did a good job and came quickly. However, he charged $90 for 30 minutes of work...including the Angie's discount. There was a minimum service charge of $65, but that did not cover anything except walking in the door evidently. He added his time to the $65. I was pretty shocked. He did offer a one-year warranty on his work, but the price was still way to high, in my opinion, for a very simple fix. Would not use again even though he was a nice guy.

See above. Some of the delays were due to our scheduling but the major delays were on Zen's part. The lack of communication was extremely aggravating.
Description of Work: We have a Bosh dishwasher and it seems that there was a power surge which burned out the electronics. The repair process started in November 2013 and was finally fixed in Arpil 22, 2014. We could not use the dishwasher during the time period. The first attempt at repair was unsuccessful as he installed a new pump or something but the dishwasher failed a few hours after he left. It was a week or more before he returned. He came back and said it need a new circut board or something. This part solved the problem. The biggest issues with the person are: getting him to come back to finish the job usually required 3- 5 phone calls to set up an appointment. (Some of the delay was due to bad weather) Getting Zen appliance to return phone calls and keep the appointment was very aggravating. Also, when the repair was finally completed, the buttons that tell us the various cycle options are now scratched and almost illegible. He did not treat our well maintained appliance with the care that we expected. The last thing he did was look at our refrigerator which was not removing the humidity properly. He said would order the sensor but that was in April 2014 and this is late July 2014. We have never heard from him and we are tired of chasing him to finish every repair.

I am sorry you feel this way, we had to order more parts and wait for the factory to send them out. we did seem to have a phone tag going on, we also showed up 3 times within our appointment and no one answered when we called to open the gate, we also have a policy that has been in effect since 1/2011 that says if no one picks up the phone we are not sending a tech, the surge that damaged the second board, and switch. we had no way pf seeing that problem. i would recommend having a surge protector, as well as seeing about lightening protection because of where you live.

Sebastian very quickly resolved the issue with the dryer once the cord was installed. With the information I had given him about the previous owner's experience with prolonged drying times he was able to quickly deduce the problem, seek it out, and fix it. I only needed a few pieces of the part they ordered for me and they charged me only for what I needed. Sebastian was happy to answer any questions I had as well.

It was an awful experience. He came twice, he replaced something on the microwave that didn't need to be replaced and then he said he was coming back to work on the refrigerator and he just never showed back up again. He charged for the parts of the microwave for $140 and to be honest I don't remember about the refrigerator. He was incompetent.

We never charged for anything that was not installed, after reading your receipt you purchased the part from Hadco. The refrigerator was fixed at no charge, the part they sent you was the wrong part. We can not warranty when another company is sending parts as we were not the ones to order this. You had this serviced over a year ago, we said to call when your part was in and we would have billed them for the repeat call. I am sorry you could not contact us. As you see we have a great rating I am unsure why you would wait this long and write a review with no contact to us.

He came to the house and looked at the refrigerator which I had turned off. Had removed contents to another refrigerator. Asked what it was doing and said that he would like to see it in operation so we made an appointment to have him return and look at it after I had turned it on and it started to have the problem. He then determined what the fix would be and said he had to order the part. He returned after getting the part and replaced the old one. He did not charge for initial visit. When he replaced the part he showed us the old part and explained the problem and answered several questions we had.

I got them through Angie's List. He is topnotch. He came in and presented himself very well with an I.D., the vehicle was self identified, and when he came in he made sure he took his shoes off and put slippers on over his shoes to avoid tracking everything in. He checked out the stove and he was very good about explaining why he needed to replace the entire unit rather than a smaller part of it. He had the part for me the next day, came back, and got it taken care of. I couldn't be happier today. He charged me a little bit less than the going rate for an appliance. He gave me a break because I am an Angie's List member and I am a senior citizen. I've got his card on the refrigerator so that if something goes wrong, he will be the first one I will call.

he told me there is basically nothing that can be done because of the way they made the machine. the drum is off balance, but they riveted the drum with cheap metal and it cant be fixed. he refused to charge anything since there was nothing he could do.

A valve underneath my Kenmore dishwasher began leaking, and I called Appliance Zen because of the reviews on Angie's List and because I had a discount coupon. It took three tries to fix the leak, because each new part was defective (a supplier issue, not one with the installer), but Sebastian stuck with it until the problem was solved. He even made a free repair?including providing the $50 part at no charge?to my electric range, just as a courtesy gesture to compensate for my having to wait longer than expected for the dishwasher to be fixed.

and after being told by Sears, where I bought it 8 years ago, that it would take a week to have a service call, I looked up recommended providers on Angie 's List and contacted Appliance Zen. Sebastian, the owner, came right out and looked at it. He had to get parts but came back a day later and completely fixed it and showed me the whole process. I was very pleased.

Sebastian replied to our phone message in about two hours. He scheduled a visit for the next day. He arrived on time. He fixed our dryer in minutes by opening it up and pushing the reset button. This as NOT something I could have done, although I'm pretty handy with repairs. He didn't SEE the button, he put his and in and just knew where it was. He discussed what we needed to do to keep the dryer healthy, and promised to visit again at a discount if this repair didn't hold. The provider recommended by the Bosch manufacturer couldn't come out for days, and wanted $140 just to show up. Some of that would be applied to service, if it was needed. No comparison! Thanks, Angies List!
