Advanced Landscaping

I called Rick and asked for his help. He was out on a job and answered the phone, took my phone number and called me back that evening. He came by the next day to walk around my yard and get an idea what I wanted. He was very professional, took good notes and walked off the measurements of the yard. He listened carefully to what I wanted and in about 45 minutes finished all he had to do. I was not familiar with the type of rock patio he suggested and he picked me up the next day to take me around and show me work he had done in the area. The rock patios were beautiful and his selection of plants was very nice. The patio is made from a local blue-gray rock (large flat slabs) that are cut in place to fit the oval design and then set in something like sand that is actually finely crushed rock and tamped into place. Once we got started, the men worked on it for 3 days and made sure it was all secure and would not move or buckle over time and temperature changes. After I had seen some of Rick's work, he put a bid together and suggested plants, a nice stone patio, a focus garden with a rock wall outside my living-room picture window and a raised bed in the front. He said that I could continue to think about plants that I might want and all plants could be changed as the plan developed - price would be adjusted with final plant selection. I signed the contract and gave him a check for about 1/3 of the work. He did not cash the check until he actually began work on the yard about 4 weeks later after he had sprayed. He sprayed the entire yard four times (once a week) to kill the weeds and allowed a month for all the unwanted plants to die down. Then he showed up with a spray can and marked off exactly where I wanted the patio and the shape I wanted and where I wanted the raised beds and the focus garden. He showed up with a crew of three workers and had the whole job done in 4 or 5 days. The patio is absolutely beautiful, the raised rock focus bed is beautiful, the raised garden he prepared in front is exactly what I wanted. I bought a lot of plants that I liked and he added plants to fill out the yard that I also liked. He really listened to me and understood the look I wanted and did a wonderful job. I wanted more privacy and he did all the work to block the direct view of the two neighbors into my yard. All along he was very careful to listen to what I wanted. He said, "This is your garden, we want to make it just the way you want it." When it came to the bark mulch he made some suggestions but said he would put in exactly the type and color I wanted. I ran around to a mulch yard, Lowe's and another garden center to see what was available and picked the one I liked best. When the whole thing was done, the actual price was about $500 less than the bid. He was on time, did a great job, listened carefully to what I wanted, worked with me as the job was put in to get exactly what I wanted, and cleaned-up carefully each evening. He worked late into the evening to make sure everything was done right and finished quickly. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. He has been in business for over 30 years and is a licensed and insured contractor. He knows his plants and how to create a very personal look for each garden. What I really liked is that he listened and then helped me get the exact look I wanted.

Rick and the team are very professional and responsive. We liked that he tries to incorporate as many native plants that will thrive on our land and discouraged us from some of our initial ideas with good explanation.

Rick called and arrived as scheduled, provided a full estimate and completed the work in quick order.

Rick came out the same day I called and after negotiating terms, we agreed on a date a week later for the work. I had to call the call before you dig number for identifying utilities on the property. Rick was able to start the job a little earlier than expected which was nice. He warned me ahead of time that the price would go up if there were too many utility lines in the way of the job and there were. That raised his cost due to hand digging versus machine. That added $400 to the price.

Rick hopped out of the truck with a business card and lots of ideas, all of which my husband and I are discussing while awaiting Rick's estimates for these small jobs. Will update later.

Rick and team were awesome! This is a hard working team focused on delivering quality service and pleasing the customer. No loud music or extended breaks... they work long days. The team spent two weeks at our home completing this large project, but the end result will (hopefully) be enjoyed for many years.

The works stretched out over 6 weeks, he was very prompt at returning calls, if he was going to be late, he would call and let us know, which only happened once, I was really impressed with the way he worked. He was very good.

Called for estimate in September - He recommended early winter removal. Came back with out prompt. Always did work as he said.

Rick did an excellent job helping me to conceive of the possibilities. He always returned calls promptly and arrived to begin the work exactly when he said he would. He honored his estimate precisely and completed the work on schedule. Throughout the project, it was easy to detect that he really cared about how things looked in the end ... and consulted me when necessary. Rick has a terrific personal style and we intend to use him for future projects in the area to be landscaped.

Rick was punctual and did what he said he would do. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. Roots from the white pines presented a challenge. He cut out the offending roots to plant the new trees. He guarantees the trees for 12 months.

Rick was very professional and helpful with the landscape plan. My favorite part was he was very upfront about costs and timing. He quoted what he was going to do and told us a rough schedule; both of which he was dead on. (The weather co-operated too!). Rick has picked up the phone EVERY time I called or has returned my calls shortly after I left a message. I enjoy working with someone who does that. I do think Rick might have been a little more expensive than some of his competitors, but I others and have NOT had the great experience I had with Rick. I will be using him again should I need landscaping done.

Angie's list helped me find Advanced Landscaping. I started with an email inquiry off their website, which was promptly responded to with a phone call. We setup an appointment for 2 days later to evaluate my project. Rick arrived right on time, and had some great idea's and thoughts for my project. Rick provided a detailed price, writing out the plants, and materials he planned to use. He gave me the price on the spot, hand written. He broke the project into smaller pieces, in case I only wanted to do part of the plans, as it was a lot of work and area I wanted done. I decided to go with Rick and called him the next day to let him know we would do the whole project. He started right away with spraying that needed to be done to prepare for the landscaping. He used a green product that would not hurt the soil, or my dog, which was important to me. I was not present for any of the work, so I am not sure how many people worked with him, but Rick completed the job in 3 days (including over the weekend). He called me to ensure I was happy with the final look and confirm everything was fine before asking for payment. I was pleased with the outcome and the way he placed the plants and the choice of plants used. It will take some time to fill in but I am confident it will continue to look nice. He gave me instructions on how to care for the plants. My project included design and plants, gravel for a parking area and separate driveway, mulch around the house, and side and fire pit area, and hillside planting. I would recommend Advanced Landscaping and will use Rick again for any other projects.

Job went well. Rick conducts his business in a timely and professional manner. Provides valuable advice, stays on budget, follows through (on time), and overall does good work. I will definitely contact him again for future landscaping jobs.

Rick and team were extremely responsive and did a great job. The flower beds were overgrown with English Ivy, so they had to spray multiple times in order to properly remove it. Communication was fantastic - Rick explained, in detail, all of the actions tha would be required, and called prior to coming over each time. His team worked efficiently and cleaned up afterward. I would definitely recommend Advanced Landscaping - they do great work!

He arrived exactly on time. Was quite professional. He listened to what we were looking for then gave us several ideas of what could be done depending on what we wanted to spend. He made suggestions for type of no care plants since this house belongs to my 97 year old Mother. We really appreciated him being cost conscious for us.When we make our mind we definitely would call for his services.

Rick was professional, stuck to his quote and completed the job on time and as explained. Even though he quoted for 2 truckloads of removed debri, he actually took 4 truckloads and never changed the price. The area looks fantastic, healthy and well groomed. I am very pleased! I reviewed 4 quotes and while he was not the cheapest, I was confident in his experience and explanation of services. I would definitely use him again and recommend him without hesitation!!

Rick and his crew removed the dying tree, staying through a good rain shower, and the old grasses etc. He worked very hard to find us the pampas grasses my husband wanted since it is almost past the planting season. Rick also found a red maple to replace the dead tree. Rick and his crew also put a river stone border around the berms, added pine straw and periwinkle to fill in over time. Many neighbors have commented on how good the new landscaping looks.

They did very good work, I was pleased.

Rick is very good at explaining everything and he answered all of my questions. The work was done very diligently and precisely. Rick was very willing to wok with me on pricing, and payment and that was very much appreciated. All of the bushes and flowers were of good quality. The team did an excellent job of cleanup. Rick went the extra mile by pressure washing my driveway when done. I plan to use Rick's services exclusively in the future.

This was the third time we have used Rick, so we were obviously pleased with his prior work. When we decided to plant larger trees along the front driveway, even though he had the smaller-size trees in his trailer, he willingly accommodated our request (at a higher cost, of course.) Crew cleaned up after each day's work. Rick is very reasonable and concerned about customer satisfaction. If I have a need for additional landscaping, I will use him again.

He agreed to meet on short notice and traveled into the mountains to see the property. He suggested a single solution for the front and back. We talked price and he offered to honor the reduction advertised. Because his solution was so "one size fits all," I got a second opinion and went with a company that had more design expertise.

Came out for an estimate on a fairly complex water diversion job ($5000 -$8000). He gave only an oral estimate with nothing written down. The estimate was high and I had no way of knowing what was included and what was not. He also quoted prices for work that I did not ask for. I did not choose to go with this landscaping company.
