A Healthier Home

He inspected our entire house and told us ways to make our home home more energy efficient. I do not think that I will ever purchase another home without him first doing an inspection.

Rick is an educator. We went from almost no knowledge about how our home works to feeling fairly competent, now. You really need to crawl around in the crawl space or go into the attic with Rick. Rick actually helped us to save money because he helped us to identify mold that was not removed beforehand by another company, so we didn't have to pay the total bill from that company (and I use the word "company" loosely). Rick showed us things that were problem or potential problem areas - things that I walked by everyday and never thought about... things that we were breathing in everyday that were not healthy. This is some of the most useful money you will ever spend. His knowledge and unbiased insight is to be commended. Rick is very impartial and is not beholden to a product or service from another. Rick was able to visit within a short time frame and was on time. Very highly recommended!

Rick arrived on time and was extremely thorough in his inspection. He spent at least 1 hour in the crawl space and inspected every inch of the space. He removed panels from the HVAC and dehumidifier units to look for weak spots, he took pictures of all the access points to the crawl space where rodents could get in, he inspected the pipes and air ducts going into the house - it was a very comprehensive job and I felt no spot was missed. After completing his inspection he took me through at least 30 pictures that he took and walked me through the issue and possible remediation options. He definitely overdelivered on what I was expecting and I am very glad to have had him come out to my house.

In the crawlspace where Rich found mold, he explained how I should capture the mold and remove it.

It went well. He was thorough. He forgot he charged me initially via this site and went over the fees again .... It was akward!!!

Rick did an outstanding job. He arrived on time and spent four hours at our home. He not only pointed out the trouble spots inside and outside of the house but made over one-hundred photos of them. He carefully and patiently made recommendations for improvement and offered assistance as to how to proceed with the needed repairs. He looked at every nook and cranny. We discovered how moldy our home is and how to best prevent such a situation in the future. We even found all kinds of items that the builders had tossed into the ducts. We plan to carry through with his suggestions. Anyone needing a thorough home inspection would do well to contact him. He is a also a courteous and congenial person.

Rick was very responsive to my request for him to come out to our home and arrived on time. He was extremely thorough, spending over two and a half hours touring the house, taking pictures with which he explained various issues to me at the end of his visit. I have felt we had an issue for some time, and had asked my HVAC people to check out the crawlspace last summer, which they told me was "fine." Rick was able to show me that it was NOT "fine," and why. He directed me to a mold remediation company, and I took his suggestion because I was so impressed with him.

Mr. Bayless inspected the crawl space closely as the mold was everywhere, even in my heat pump vents. I felt that he found so many unexpected issues that he ran out of time, he spent several hours checking everything, but I wish he had had more time to inspect the sun room ceiling panels where there was also mold found, because that was the reason I had called him. But he also makes recommendations about any safety hazards encountered or wasteful energy practices, etc. His inspection is definitely worth the time and investment. He also made himself available in the future for any questions about the photos or the report. If I had not found Mr Bayless(although he certainly is not a vet), I don't know what I would have done; my cats had been getting ill and were on antibiotics, sneezing and coughing, and I had no idea what was wrong with them. After his visit it was easy to guess what had been going on.

We were looking for a starting point in dealing with a water problem in our crawl space and mold in the heat pump. We were not sure of the water source and hoped that calling an independent inspector would give us non-biased suggestions vs. trying to sell us an expensive service. Rick spent about 2 hours under our house. He inspected every inch of the area and gave me a detailed list of what needed to be done to remove water and mold. We learned a lot from the visit and were left with a 'to-do' list of ways to improve the environment. His instructions included things that we could do ourselves if we chose to. I think that we saved money by spending on Rick's service. He pointed out issues that I was not aware of and helped me to see a step-by-step way of solving the problem. He was prompt, thorough and professional.

I was looking for an independent inspector who would assess the mold issues we were experiencing in certain areas of a 5-unit apartment house. Rick's inspection was very thorough, and afterward he provided an equally thorough assessment of what needed to be done to remedy the problem. I was very comfortable with Rick's assessment of our problem because he set about only to provide the inspection and assessment and not to "sell" me a solution. He offered numerous suggestions for what would address our problem, including several suggestions of things we could do without involving a high-priced professional mold treatment and other suggestions for things that could be done by professionals without the cost of a treatment "package." I was very satisfied with the service Rick provided for me.

The service man was very pleasant & helpfu. He even removed some dead mice from my crawlspace, so he went above & beyond what he was there forl. I'm still trying to decide the best way to solve my problem.

There were so many things to be done and costly, we said we are not even touching this house. He was GREAT!!

He not only gave us expert advice on dealing with a situation we had encountered, but also gave us a tremendous education on how to keep our home environmentally healthy and avoid the economic loss associated with mold, mildew, and erosion. Rick is all about prevention and the simple steps he recommended will surely help us avoid tremendous expense down the line. He did an inspection that gave us great peace-of-mind in knowing that our home was in good shape now and would stay that way. He knows more about where mold, mildew, and energy inefficiencies tend to hide than anyone I have ever met. He mentioned so many things that the average homeowner does not think about, but must be aware of to safeguard their most valuable possession. I would absolutely not by a house now unless Rick did an environmental inspection of it. Rick is also a wonderful human-being. He believes in seeing things through. He is well-connected and makes great recommendations. I was absolutely astounded when my doorbell rang hours after he left. It was Rick just checking in on how it had gone with someone he had recommended to us. Now, that's being conscientious!

Rick came to our home because we needed him to do an air quality inspection. We found some mold growing in our new rental house, and were having trouble getting the property management company to fix the issues we were having. With the diagnosis and report Rick provided, we were able to take that to the proper powers and force them to see the problems we were having. He did a very thorough inspection of our air system, basement (where most of the mold and bacteria was housed), and crawlspace. He really listened to our needs and gave us options on how to move forward from here (without breaking our bank). I'd highly recommend Rick to anyone who is looking for a good guy (who won't cheat you and run off with your money), who will give you a thorough, quality inspection! It can be a little expensive, but for the level of expertise he brings, and the thorough job he does, it is worth it (especially if you can get a coupon on here!!)... Would def use again.

He did an excellent job. It was done very well, he was very informative, he wasn't trying to sell me any products, he just did his service and he gave me all the time he promised. He did an excellent service and explained everything very well and he had given solutions that I could carry out myself or have done so I thought it was well worth the money. They did a good job.

It went fine. I followed his suggestions and all seems to work.

He had no reservations about going into the unpleasant and difficult crawl space and completely covering its problems (mostly evidence of mice and too much humidity). He also went through the attic and made sure that it was pest free and reasonably well ventilated and insulated.

Mr. Bayless spent over 4 hours, much of it in the crawl space, seeking sources of mold, energy losses, incomplete caulking and sealing, needed service and repairs, and insufficient insulation. He provided scores of photographs documenting his findings and provided a verbal report on each finding. He was very thorough and responsive to our questions. He started by sitting down with us so we could provide the structure's history and our concerns. He provided some general introductory information and got to work. He discovered the source of moldy odors in our HVAC unit and a great many lesser items, all of which we will address to more completely isolate the crawl space from the living space and to enhance efficient use of energy. $100/hour is a little pricey but he has no competitors in the vicinity. He will follow our progress as we mediate our home's issues and discuss needed work with the contractors we will use; he provided recommendations for three of them.

Rick was awesome!! He took 4 hours to go through the home that we are in contract with. He was very detail oriented and didn't leave anything out. He walked us through everything and made absolute sure that we knew everything he was going through and saying. I felt excellent about knowing everything about the home we wanted to buy!

Rick was very throughrough and said that the home was in a flood plain. He told me that there was alot of mold. He had tons of pictures and was great. He even found a leak in the bathroom where the wood was rotted. He assisted with letting me know I could get a discount if he brought his class to look at the mold. He is very detailed and very good. His specialty is mold and air quality. I felt that he was very honest,nice, and knowledgable. He can offer alternative solutions that could save you money.

The guy did a good job. I have no problem with his work. What I was expecting was different then what he did. There is nothing wrong with what he did. I just misunderstood what the service was providing. I did get some good stuff out of it, it was not a total waste of money. He was more then willing to work with me. He was very cooperative. Pricing is a little high.

It went wonderful. Rick was a professional and he actually answered his phone and if he was at a job and unable to answer he promptly called back. He took a substantial amount of time before the job to explain what he would do and enthusiastically answered all questions. He was a pleasure to work with. He called when he said he would and arrived for the job on time. He is very passionate about helping people and his report was a comprehensive, detailed accounting of all the issues of our property and suggestions to remedy the problems.

Excellent-----Very thorough inspection and evaluation

We purchased our first home a little over a year ago. Every time it would rain, we would get water in our garage which in our split level home is halfway underground. When we would get heavy rains, it would come in to the house downstairs causing us to rip out flooring inside the ground level of the home. Not knowing where the point of entry of the water was and not 100% sure of the connection to the rain, we thought it might be the HVAC system. The HVAC technician we called gladly agreed and we spent several hundred dollars to have the coils cleaned among some other maintenance. I'm sure it was beneficial to have it done, but alas, it was not the cause of the problem. Then we decided there was a compromise in the foundation and had a landscape and excavation company come out to give us an estimate of $11,995. While I'm sure they may have done a fabulous job, that was a bit out of our budget, and he had added in quite a few things that turned out to be unnecessary. I called Rick to come look at the house on a recommendation from a friend being told that his inspections were not sales driven and he would look at the whole picture. He did! He was able to ascertain where the water was coming in on inspection just by seeing clues of water damage down the wall in the garage where the water pipes came in the house. He also noticed after inspection our bedroom downstairs a cardboard box under my dresser was wet implying that the water had seeped in there too. We were able to avoid a possible mold problem by quickly pulling back the carpet and quickly drying the area where had gotten wet...something that would NOT have happened otherwise. He then walked with us outside the perimeter of the house seeing several other issue points which could easily be remedied with simple DIY fixes. We were able to request our next estimate armed with the knowledge to ask specifically for what we needed. We were able to have the rhododendrons pulled up, the ground excavated, a french drain laid around the house, and the area around the water pipe going into the house properly sealed...all for $2500. I only wish I would have called Rick sooner to have saved even more money! I will definitely recommend his services to any home owner for a multitude of issues.

I understand my real estate agent had a different experience, but I had a better impression of Rick's work.
