I only got an estimate, and compared to other estimate experiences, I felt this was vague, without any detailed specifications. Others gave me a sketch and details of cabinetry, and all I got here was some ambiguous verbal descriptions. Also, I didn't want the responsibility of buying flooring & other materials myself, in advance - I wanted more of a turn-key job and I got the impression that he preferred me to be responsible for the materials and he would only be responsible for the labor. There are all sorts of things that can go wrong with this type of scenario. I hadn't completely given up, and I emailed him to ask about bonding, insurance, licensing, specifications and contracts, and I never heard anything back from that email. Darryl was very nice and pleasant, I liked him and cannot fault him there, but I had some concerns about what would be done, whether it would be done on time, whether I could depend on the estimate actually being for exactly what I wanted, and what recourse I would have if something went sideways in the work. I just can't afford surprises.

We bought a Big Deal last November but didn't use it until it warmed up. Three young men came and went to work. They did a thorough cleaning using power nozzles, brushes and scrubbing all the exterior mildew and accumulated dirt. We had our house pressure washed several years ago and I can honestly say, these people did a much better job. We were very impressed at how diligent they were, even going post by post on our back deck. A fantastic job.

They show up on time and they are very responsive. I have had a great experience with them. He was able to find the problem with my roof, and repair the job quickly.

He did a great job, I used the big deal for him to install new flooring in the bedroom and closet, as well as molding in four other rooms. They were extremely nice and a pleasure to work with. Not to mention their quality of work was top notch.

Darrell was fantastic - so considerate to go out of his way to pick up the things I needed from the store, flexible for my time-frame, great price, and just an overall great guy who I felt I could trust completely after interacting with him on both days.

Darrell was very professional and courteous on the phone. He scheduled the power washing of my home to fit my schedule. He and his helper arrived at the time he told me he would be there and they did a very good job. I would definitely use this company again.

The project was well planned out and we worked with him to buy all materials. He sowed up on time and did the work over the course of about 5 days due to weather. When we were gone, he acquired the additional materials and did not add a surcharge. The work was done very well and the site was cleaned up every evening.

The first time I used them was when I purchased the big deal from Angie's list and I was very impressed with their work. They did a good job with the work they did.

Darrell and his helper picked up and replaced doors on an older home owned in Canton. I thought it might be a difficult job since the home was older but they zipped right through the installation. They did an excellent job and the doors look very nice. Darrell even had the keys set to open all locks with one key. Both guys were very professional and cleaned up nicely afterwards. Their price was very reasonable too.

They initiated a phone call prior to their appointment to clarify the work to be done. My elderly Mother needed her bathroom to be repainted after the flooring was replaced. The front porch of her condo and back porch ceiling also needed to be painted. I supplied all materials. Two men showed up as scheduled and began working right away. One started inside and the other outside. I had to get more Kiltz for the exterior ceiling and they used what they had on their truck until I got back with a gallon more. They did a good job and they worked fast. The bathroom really needs another coat and I would have gladly paid them more to give it a second coat, but they seemed to be on a tight schedule, so I said I would do it myself. It still needs to be repainted. I am just a little disappointed that their schedule was not a little more flexible so we could have put a second coat on the bathroom. Overall, they came on time, willing to do anything and got the job done on schedule and for the Deal price quoted.

A+ Home Improvements performed this work on a rental home I own in Asheville NC; I currently live in Raleigh. Darrell and I talked several times on the phone and through email before I was finally able to make the trip out to meet with him and my property manager on a Saturday morning. During the walk-through I identified several additional items and requested that he add them to his "to-do" list. It's important to mention that I made it clear that doors, windows and other materials were to be "rental property" quality. Not too cheap and not too expensive... So, that should provide a bit of perspective on the $9750 I paid him for labor and materials. Darrell sent me a quote including his prices, payment terms and an approximate date he'd start the work. I was concerned about getting the work done before the end of the year for tax purposes and he assured me that he could get it done - even after I continued to add to the list. In short, he was fantastic. Very reasonable prices, very responsive to my questions and the house looks great. Since I'm an absentee owner, we had to coordinate the work between Darrell, my property manager (who was local) and me. My property manager also gives him rave reviews. I double-checked with her before submitting this Angie's List report and she said she'd definitely work with Darrell again and would be happy to recommend him. I highly recommend Darrell and A+ Home Improvements.

It went well. The workers were very nice, and did a good job. My only issue, however, was that it took longer than expected for them come out and start the work.

They were friendly, on time, they completed the task appropriately. If I had any question they were available to answer them. The pricing was fair as well.

They were on time to the minute and very pleasant and efficient. I spoke with Daryll yesterday and he will be returning soon to do some more work. I highly recommend them.

From the time my husband contacted Darrell until work finished was 2 days.

Very accommodating, fast and efficient, did exactly what we asked for. We had a number of things that needed to be done and he completed one and went on immediately to the next one... and the next... and the next. When our allotment of time was up he even agreed to stay longer (at the $25/hr rate) to complete all the things on our list. We would definitely call A+ next time we need work done.

Darryl is a nice guy, but I would not get him to paint again.

BE VERY CAREFUL. Write a detailed contract - do NOT use his quote as the contract. He puts a clause at the bottom of the quote, that essentially allows him to say it was more than he expected and he is done. He will argue and not show back up. Be sure to put in the Start date, and the Completed by date. Daryl took several weeks to come out to continue the job. Daryl never completed the job to the original agreed upon work. His comment was "Don't you think I did 850 worth of work already?" He was counting hours from leaving his house over an hour away. He worked a Sunday and counted 12:30-5 as a 'full day'. I dont care how many trips you make and how far away you live. Do NOT pay him partial payments. He finished about half the work, and I paid him 1/2 (not agreed to beforehand). It was approx 3 months before I could get him back out to continue. This was since things started picking up in the spring of the year. I was then low priority for him. He is focused on his rating. He underestimated the job. Please note also - Daryl does not know the Building codes very well. When asked details - he did not know. He would have built the deck to old code - DECK CODE has changed. I provided him a copy - to which he declined and did not take. IN the contract specify specifically what is in scope and what is not in scope. For example: Deck complete with 2 2X12 supports and a 2X10 outer band. Oh, if you have to goto this much detail... - - and you do with this company - I would not hire them for the deck job. He is super busy since he focuses on his A Angies list rating.

They called right back, service was terrific and the price was right on. They did an excellent job.

Mr. Baldwin showed up at the agreed upon time and day. He purchased the materials to fix my roof as I did not know what to buy. He did an outstanding job repairing my leak. I intend to use his services again.
