We visited the store on a Saturday and arranged for a chimney cleaning and wood stove inspection. The store scheduled us for the following Thursday. Because inclement weather forced the firm to cancel a service call in another community, they called me on Tuesday and asked if we would like our chimney service to be performed two days early. When we said yes, they were at our door 30 minutes later. Alex the technician performed the work, which took about an hour. He worked efficiently first brushing down the metal lined flue with a spinning brush , cleaning the stove and its glass, and then replacing the three broken fire brick. He carefully cleaned up after the service. He also instructed me on the use of this model stove. He then watched me as I started the fire in the stove. The flue cleaning was $192.50 and the installation new brick $40. I will use this firm again.

This provided rendered excellent service. However, the provider charged $250 for less than an hour's work. The reason the provider gave for this excessive charge was not acceptable.

This installation was done over the winter last year. The crew arrived on time and installed the stove and liner per our agreement. They were professional and very courteous. The installation went well and they cleaned up before departing. The stove worked great but there was a smoke leak and I had to call them back. They responded immediately and fixed the leak with Silicone. Everything was fine over the winter, however the smoke leak returned after they performed the annual cleaning. Tom, the owner, came out and found that the problem was inside the stove where the exhaust pipe had not been adequately sealed (this was a mfg defect). He ordered the parts and corrected the problem at no cost to me. He noted that the piping from the stove to the chimney was also leaking and they replaced it, also at no cost to me. I am very pleased with the stove and the installation job. Even though we had some hitches in the process, Tom made sure I was taken care of. I would highly recommend Wright's if you are in need of stove or chimney service.

Wright's is a family business and they all communicate well with each other throughout the process, from showroom to install. They sell quality American made products. We were looking for items to meet our construction budget that were of good quality. Wright's beat 2 other local stores on both quality and price. They were helpful in finding us the features we wanted at a price point we could afford and did not pressure us into adding more bells and whistles. They showed up on schedule and did the work to the satisfaction of our energy auditor and builder.

Initially everything looked good, upon further inspection, they only cleaned 3 sides of the exterior of the chimneys. The gas log install went well. 1 of the glass door sets came in approximately 4 months after the promise date. They blamed the manufacturer. Then it was discovered that they ordered the wrong door. They became frustrated and opted out, returned my money for the glass door set, kind of left me hanging. I called the manufacturer direct had the correct doors in 3 weeks installed them myself ( approx 20 minutes) and saved $800.00. Wright's in my opinion was very non responsive especially after they received payment. We also had a problem with one of the gas log sets, which they did fix, but it took over 4 weeks.

Response from Wright's Hearth Heat & Home
We appreciate this customer's response. They came to our store and we discussed their options based on their needs & wants. We then scheduled a site evaluation (at no charge) which included sending our owner to their home to give them an estimate for a gas fireplace. This particular scenario included running gas line under permit (a permit is required when any gas piping is ran), replacing their existing fireplace, and installing a new one (labor and material-intensive). We do not sub-contract our work out, we are fully insured and bonded, and we have been in business for 20+ years. Sad to see this customer take their business elsewhere, but we are here to service their unit after the other company has installed it, as we offer maintenance on gas, wood, pellet, coal and oil units even if we did not install them.

After moving into a house that was built in 2000, we began to detect mold smells and suffer from mold-allergy symptoms. We contracted with a mold mitigation company that charged us a lot of money and did not find the source of the mold. After dealing with this for several months, we tore into the fireplace and the drywall around it to isolate the source of mold. It appeared to be coming from the fireplace box itself, so that had to come out. Our next step was to find someone who could help us finish the demolition, clean it all up and re-install a new fireplace and gas log. We saw the Wright Fireplace Company while driving down Hendersonville Road and stopped in to discuss our project. One of the Wright brothers came to our home and looked at the fireplace. We then, with his help, chose our new unit, got an estimate, and scheduled the job. The Wright Company discovered mold in the insulation between the layers of the steel box when they did all the rest of the demolition. The only negative thing I have to say is that the price seemed a little high, but we had just moved into the Asheville area from Denver, CO and were not familiar with the idea that everything here is about twice as high as in Colorado. Needless to say, we were disconcerted by the total expenditure. However, we feel like we got our money's worth as they were prompt, careful, meticulous, and performed the job to our very perfectionist, exacting standards. And yes, I will call them back if I ever need fireplace work done again, and I recommend them highly.
Description of Work: An old, moldy gas log and fireplace assembly including masonry was removed and replaced with an all-new sealed gas-log fireplace unit. They also built the inside of the chimney chase the way it should have been done by the builder twelve years ago. They replaced the chimney cap with a molded steel cap as the builder-installed one had been leaking because it was installed improperly and had not been caulked properly. In short, they built us a fireplace like it should have been done originally.

We had struggled with a decision about repairing the chimney which was unusable because of cracks. We ended up with with this solution and we'll have to see how it works out which is why I put N/A next to quality. It's warm now so we haven't even needed it yet. Wright's was great! The price for the unit, and the installation was less than we would have had to pay for a new chimney liner. I think we got a good deal on the heater itself which was a store model. They discussed at some length the visual effect of the stove in our living room (it's victorian), and I felt that they were really concerned that it be what we really wanted. It looks great and we're happy. We'll have to see how well it heats. What we're really hoping is that when all is said and done we save a little money on heating. I have no idea.... We've actually used Wright's for years as a chimney sweep until they had to condemned the chimney. I recommend Wright's very highly. They are professional and informative and we have appreciated their help with this.
Description of Work: Wright's sold to us and installed a direct vent gas insert (gas coal as opposed to gas logs) in our fireplace.

No show. UPDATE: They eventually did show up a couple days later. They quoted and charged me extra as they would have to get on the roof due to the size of the home. They began inside with my upstairs fireplace and were very neat and clean and showed me the chimney scan images of some mortar issues. They then went into the basement to inspect the furnace chimney. They had a difficult time and when I left them, they said they would have to get on the roof for sure as they could not video/clean entirely from below. Next thing I know they are packing up and leaving without getting on the roof. They did not provide images and told me the flue was so damaged it needed to be removed and replaced. They handed me a piece of the liner that had broken and a bill for $10,000. To their credit, when I complained that I needed images of the damaged liner to submit to insurance and to prove to myself that there was damage, they did send a gentleman out to redo the scan and provide images. I asked 3 times that they email the upstairs fireplace images and to date, they still have not sent those. I also asked why I was charged extra for a 'roof job' when they never got on the roof. They felt that it took so much effort that it was worth the surcharge! So much for a valid quote. They offered to refund 5% but not to reduce it to the regular sweep price. I had a second opinion and was quoted $2000 less for the same repair. Buyer beware!
Description of Work: Scheduled an appointment and rearranged my busy schedule to meet the sweeps here. So far, 1.5 hr later they are a no show. They open at 8a per their voicemail but there has been no answer at the office and no return call as to why no one showed up. WIll update if they ever resolve this, but so far very disappointed. I personally spoke with this customer and scheduled her appointment for 10/23/2012. We looked at different dates as options, but this was the date that we both agreed upon - we accommodated her schedule even though the customer is located over an hour from our home store. We want to make sure our customers are taken care of at the most convenient time for the customer. We schedule appointments for our customers and give them a confirmation phone call the day prior. We did not call this customer the day prior because we did not have her scheduled for 10/16/2012. We received a large amount of phone calls this week due to the cold weather, and we return phone calls as soon as we can, in the order they are received. I spoke with this customer on 10/16/2012 after she made several attempts of calling and apologized for any miscommunication, then we confirmed the original date of 10/23/2012.

,From the time we entered the store we were met by friendly,( no hard sell) staff who showed us the Pellet Stoves that they had. Then they gave us time to check them out for ourselves and read over the brochures. When we had done this, and went to ask questions, they were most helpful and friendly in a not "pushy" manner. When we left, having not actually buying a stove, they were still very friendly and helpful. After checking around our area and research on the internet we decided that the models and manufacturer were the best on the market at that time. Their prices were in line and we decided, based upon our research and their guidance, which model to purchase and that they would install it. They arrived and all went very well. Installation on our hearth, etc as mentioned went without any problems. The stove is great. Would not hesitate to call on them for anything having to do with their expertise.
Description of Work: We purchased a Pellet Stove (wood burning stove that uses wood pellets that automatically feeds the pellets from a hopper) from Wrights and they came out, delivered it, installed it on our fireplace hearth and did all connections, installation requirements necessary to have this stove operational. They told us what it would cost, when they would arrive and how long it would take to install. They were very punctual, courteous and friendly and the estimate was right on. We had no problems with this company at all. Would recommend them without hesitation.

These guys are excellent at getting the job done right- even though the one set of logs had been purchased elsewhere- and was a very complex system that wrighjts did not cossry- they worked through the issues and kept at it until they got it workikng properly (which is more than I can say for the store that sold it to us...their service was very poor, which is why we switrcehd to Wright's). They are prompt and hard working guys; juggled schedules to fit into the mix of gas company, furnace installers, buildiong inspectors and our own schedule (this is a vacation home- so we're not always here) to get it done at our convenience.

the technician was proficient with heaters...not so much with people.
Description of Work: Serviced two propane heaters...recommended replacing one (was not worth repair) and disassembled the other with the promise to obtain the appropriate part (providing I prepaid for the part, implied I wouldn't pay for the part when it arrived). Offered to provide plans for a replacement wood-burning stove and would e-mail the estimate - never followed-up. Further insulted me when presenting the bill - said, "We do like to get paid," clearly implying I wouldn't pay. I cannot with clear conscience recommend these people - high prices and no value.

I had Wright's come out to clean my chimney attached to a gas log fireplace. We had only recently bought the home, and didn't realize that the logs were unvented and the chimney was sealed! Despite the effort to come out and inspect the situation, I wasn't charged for their time. I scheduled a second team for the same day to clean and service my gas logs. The guy did a great job, explained some details about the operation that I didn't know, and didn't leave a mess at all. Great experience.
