..y emailed me To begin with, this company baits and switched yo on their quotes. The original telephone quote was $1,800.00, having ALL of the details about where I was moving to. The estimator came to the house, and worked up a new quote at $2,800.00! They have exorbitant charges, like $240.00 for securing a washing machine for transit. By me taking on the chores that they were way overcharging for, the quote came down to $2,020.00. They emailed me the quote. A couple of days later, they contacted me to tell me that they had made a mistake with the mileage expense, and they would have to send a new quote. The new quote was for $2,300.00, and the mileage expense was the same, but the weight was raised from 5,000 Lbs. to 8,000 Lbs.! I emailed Dakota to ask why the weight increased by 60%? He said he'd get back to me. After about 4 days, I emailed the question again. Still no answer. B then, I was stuck time wise, with using this mover. When the furniture arrived and was unwrapped from the moving pads, it was all dusty and grimy. Apparently, they don't clean their moving pads very often. They emailed me after the move to ask my opinion of their services. I replied that I did not appreciate the way the quotes kept changing, the lack of response to questions, and the dirty condition of the furniture when it arrived. Cameron, the estimator who apparently was not well trained, emails me back his opinions and comments, blaming everything on me! I had to reply to him asking him not to contact me anymore. I would never recommend this company, who has since merged with United.
Description of Work: They provided pick up and delivery moving services.

Response from RJT Relocation
First of all, I want to apologize for any lack of communication During your move. Our goal is to provide the best service possible to every family and individual who moves with us. "Over the phone quotes" - In the moving industry, this type of quote is not considered an accurate one. This is the #1 reason we offer free in home estimates. That doesn't mean the price will always increase. In some cases it doesn't. I did apologize for the difference and explained why this happens. There are a number of movers out there who only do estimates over the phone and they consistently change numbers after loading the truck. As for the move we are discussing, this is far from what happened. Although I did make a mistake in quoting the move in home initially, I corrected this mistake in a timely manner and once again apologized. After reviewing the emails that were exchanged, this was more than 20 days before loading day and I made it very clear that there was nothing that required [Member Name Removed] to use our moving services due to this change and no down payment was require. I also made it very clear that if Tom would be using our services than the accurate charges would be required. From this point [Member Name Removed] agreed to have us move him (also more than 20 days before loading day). "Dirty Blankets" - Once the move was complete I spoke with [Member Name Removed] is regards to the moving blankets that may have caused any furniture item to be dusty or dirty. It is a rare things that happens in this industry and has since been fixed operationally. I offered to have a claim form sent so we can attempt to correct this problem as I would have done if there was any damage. [Member Name Removed] declined this offer and did not want to allow us to correct this. As for the abundance of charges related to additional services: all charges were discussed and visible on the quote. I review the extra services and charges that incur. In this case [Member Name Removed] did not want these additional services and they were removed from the quote. These charges were part of what was not discussed over the phone. Once I met with [Member Name Removed] personally and these services were removed, the actual price quote was much closer to the quote discussed over the phone. After the move had taken place I attempted to discuss the complaints with [Member Name Removed] when he let me know his thoughts. I was not harrassing him in any way as it would seem from [Member Name Removed] comments but did want to offer this same type of response hoping we could understand one another. Please accept my apology for the things that could have been avoided during your move and know that all things you have said are taken very serious by our company. Thanks, Cameron

We hired RJT to do a move for us when we were relocating from Tri Cities TN to Texas. The person (Robie) doing the sale and in home estimate is very good. He talks a good game about how they are a family business and are going to take good care of you, etc. From there things went a bit haywire. After getting multiple estimates from companies, we went with them and started trying to take care of the paperwork. I received an electronic document to work through and sign but the delivery address was added. I sent it back asking them to fix it and received another copy shortly. This now had the incorrect address. I sent that back and received another one with the wrong address again. Finally I e-mailed the Robie who told me he would take care of it and I did end up getting a correct work order.A few days before the scheduled pick up date I noticed that our bank account had been debited for the amount of the move even though they had not even picked up our stuff let alone delivered it in one piece. When I inquired about it I was told that the money was being placed on hold but the transaction would not be completed until after the move was finished. I then asked if I would have to sign something to allow that to happen in case I was not happy with the service or if the transaction would be completed regardless and was informed that the transaction would be completed regardless but that I should not worry as they were going to take great care of me. From there, my wife and I packed our things and prepared for the move. The work crew to load arrived on time and I have to give them credit as they were fantastic. I was really impressed with them. They were polite, clean, professional, expedient, etc. Overall, I could not have been more pleased with their work. From there, my wife and I drove to Texas confident that our household good would soon arrive. We were wrong. After a couple of days, we called to check on our things only to be told that they were still in their warehouse in NC and that they did not know when they would be shipped. But, we could file a complaint to get some money reimbursed from their parent company Mayflower. I need to stress something here, they did NOT call us to inform us of anything. We only found out that our things would not be on time by calling them ourselves. When I talked to their rep (Diane) I was told that she has said something to her boss a couple of days ago when she noticed that our things had not been picked up yet. I asked her if she or anyone else had followed up since then but was told that she did not know. I received an e-mail from her two days later telling me that our things were still there and they did not know when they would be delivered. From there I decided to call Robie who did our initial estimate and who is one of the VP's in the company. I have left several voicemails and multiple e-mails and have not gotten through yet. And that is where we stand right now. It has been 8 days since our things were picked up and they are still sitting in NC while we are in TX. I have no idea when they will be picked up let alone shipped and delivered. Stay away from this company whatever you do.
Description of Work: Loading our household goods, shipping and unloading at our new location. We handled 99% of the packing though they did pack our beds, washer and dryer, and a few other miscellanius things.
