Description of Work: I do not recommend McNutt Service Group for HVAC work. I have used them for over 10 years, but it the last 2 years I have had nothing but problems with them. The company is totally unresponsive to my complaints and even though the HVAC units were installed by them and are still under warranty, they rarely work properly. In addition to this, they charged me for work which was covered by warranty and when I pointed this out to them, they admitted their error and promised to refund the money. It has been 5 months and I have made 13 phone calls and still do not have my refund. Do not expect a call back when you have a problem. They may be punctual but they cannot solve your heating and air problems.

Description of Work: I called to ask for help the lady said some one would call back and NOPE never got a call.

Description of Work: Spring contracted check up-within 2 weeks, heat pump failed to cool.....they said they would send tec....we waited and waited....had to call back....no one had dispatched the tech....finally came about 2 hours late.....restarted fan motor (said the fan motor might be bad)....the unit was only 2 years old.....failed again within 2 weeks....now new fan motor had to be ordered......again several days, meanwhile no air conditioning....it was really hot last summer.....two service call charges to change a defective motor which was under warranty (watch out for Lennox...also had outside thermostat control fail a year ago, twice, again two service call charges) Now, without any prior notice, they send an invoice for $299 for a renewal of our service contract (two inspections a year)....last year the bill was $114....when I called to ask for an explanation, I was simply told that their costs have gone up but they would reduce the bill to $249....they also had lost the already scheduled fall inspection date, but willing to reschedule if I desired....needless to say, I am checking with others for better treatment and pricing.....according to one review, others in 2012 have been charged only $79 for an inspection of their system We have been loyal customers of McNutt for over 13 years in two separate homes, have had extensive HVAC work done by them in both homes, but in the last two years, the changes have been all negative....hope we can find another more reliable company

Description of Work: In May 2011, McNutt replaced a mini-split system in a bonus room over the garage. In August, 2012, the system failed. I called McNutt to request a service call. They never called the tenant at the house or me. Called them again, and couldn't find the paperwork. Rescheduled the appt...they showed up at our house! Tenant, by now, very upset as time had to taken off work, etc. Finally, they showed up to look at the system and said it needed a part, and they would order it. Came back and said that wasn't the problem and unit needed a new compressor. Said it would cost approx. $1500....740 to install and 2 service call charges! I went on line and found that this unit is guaranteed for 7 years. Found out, too, that McNutt has new owners, no longer the trustworthy old regime. The service manager and I worked out a deal for me to pay $640 to install and forgave the 2 service charges. Now invested $3800 for the replacement unit plus $640 to replace the compressor. I am not a happy camper!

Description of Work: I called McNutt, made an appointment for our A/C tune up. The appointment was made for the following week. Keith, our technitian arrived exactly at 10am. He took his shoes off as he entered our home. Keith was very professional in every way you can think off. Will ask for Keith once again to help us.

Description of Work: The cost listed is for a yearly contract. We have contract and service person comes out in spring to check all air conditioning parts, and in the fall to check all heating parts. They have pointed out potential problems and offered solutions. We are happy with the service.

Description of Work: McNutt installed our heating and AC unit in 2002.........installed wrong size....charged same price....a couple of years later we found out the wrong size had been installed.......different service tech each time......our 10 year warranty on unit runs out this year. McNutt gave us an extended service warranty AFTER we found out wrong unit had been installed. They have expanded into SC and GA and have too many irons in the fire....WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.................The $6500.00 was for the original installation......but they gave us a free service contract for years "to make up for their mistake"...................

We were told they were busy and could only get to those customers with service contracts, BUT they offered to sell us a contract over the phone and THEN they would come. We ended up calling another company, who fixed the problem and when I asked about maintenance, they said that our Trane HVAC did NOT require any routine maintenance.

Description of Work: Tony Staton came for the estimate the day after I contacted McNutt. After I had gotten 4 estimates, I scheduled replacement of my present heat pump, air handler, and thermostat with McNutt. They removed the old unit from the premises and installed the new ones.

Description of Work: They removed an old York heat pump and replaced it with a new Trane model. They also assisted in installing a drop down attic ladder.

Description of Work: Came to trouble shoot problem of why A/C wouldn't work. Circuit breaker kept tripping off. Had a few options for problems. Didn't stop until he found the problem.

Description of Work: The McNutt folks first had to remove the house's two oil furnaces (the house used to be a duplex). One was an oldie from the 1940s and that was a dirty job. They had to tear it apart in order to haul the pieces out a small basement window. They then installed a Trane heat pump. When they hooked it up to our existing ductwork, they decided to replace a lot of the old ducts with new insulated ducts. We also had to have our electric service upgraded to 200 amps and their electricians did a great job. That, too, wasn't easy as they had to bore through our house's stone wall for the new conduit.

Description of Work: They installed two new heating pumps to our installed unit which heats a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. One pump is electric and the other is a back up gas pump in case the first one fails. They took a full day to install this and all used material and garbage was taken away by them.

Description of Work: They installed a new furnace in my 1600 square foot house. They removed and discarded the old unit prior to installing the new one.

Description of Work: Replaced 12 year old system, 2 heat pumps and inside equipment. Put in Trane equipment and integrated propane gas into main floor inside equipment so that propane kicks in below 40 degrees. Installed digital thermostats which are programmable for maximum efficiency.
